Man's Inhumanity A True Account of Life in a Concentration Camp
Free Download Father Melchior, "Man's Inhumanity : A True Account of Life in a Concentration Camp"
English | 2015 | ASIN: B0006D0NDK | EPUB | pages: 140 | 12.9 mb
"Many impressive books have been written about German horror camps where, from 1939 until 1945, human beings were subjected to degrading experiences, or were destroyed like swarms of helpless insects.Every ✅Publisher in the U.S.A. has been offered at least one hair-raising diary, and the flow of these human stories will probably continue for many years to come. It would seem to be a sign of mass psychosis. Former inmates of concentration camps have to tell their story. And many people feel reluctant to read another book filled with the smoke of burned bodies. The camp where I stayed for several years has received less publicity than the larger and more smoothly run DACHAU and RAVENSBRÜCK camps where mass extermination was carried out with cold efficiency. Our camp was called BRZEZINKI, in German BIRKENAU. Some prisoners nicknamed it RAJSKO. In literal translation this means "HEAVEN-LIKE".In Brzezinki-Birkenau, mass murder was carried out on such a fantastic scale that the executioners had set up five crematories. Almost all the inmates were destroyed and only a few lived long enough to greet their liberators. Except for one book written by a Polish woman thus far, no report has been graved on flintstone by any of the liberated Polish Jobs.I am not a writer and my story will be a plain and frank account of things which I have witnessed and experienced in nine prisons and in three concentration camps, from which I was miraculously saved by God. It is not my aim to evoke your pity, nor to arouse your wrath against the Germans. I wish only to help you to realize what happens when man rejects God and when his passions become his sole master. He will then commit every kind of inhuman crime, whereas if he follows the Golden Rule he will withstand the most ruthless pressure and even in the midst of inhuman sufferings will desperately cling to his faith.I wish to stir the conscience of statesmen so that they may unify their efforts in preventing a repetition of the crimes committed in the name of an omnipotent and evil deity-the STATE."-Foreword

Making the Rural Urban Inter–Class Dynamics to Protect the Environment in a Gentrifying Rural Town in Colombia
Free Download Sebastián Felipe Villamizar-Santamaría, "Making the Rural Urban: Inter-Class Dynamics to Protect the Environment in a Gentrifying Rural Town in Colombia "
English | ISBN: 3031583345 | 2024 | 181 pages | EPUB, PDF | 8 MB + 6 MB
This book takes the small rural town of La Calera, in the outskirts of the Colombian capital of Bogotá, as a case study to analyze how residents from different social classes - wealthier ex-urban newcomers arriving to traditionally peasant and rural areas - interact to decide how nature will be used in the face of further urban expansion. Contrary to the conflicts in other gentrification cases, including those of "green" gentrification, this book shows how newcomers and longtimers in La Calera use environmental concerns to bridge social class rifts and push the state to provide water, public space, and decision-making power.

Making the Most of Study Abroad prepares students for a successful study abroad experience. This book is designed to fill that gap and inform the reader on many crucial elements that can make the difference between a fantastic study abroad trip and a lackluster stay. While this book is principally designed around the idea of study abroad, it can also serve as a guide for travelers planning an extended stay abroad.

Making India Colonialism, National Culture, and the Afterlife of Indian English Authority
Free Download Making India: Colonialism, National Culture, and the Afterlife of Indian English Authority By Makarand R. Paranjape (auth.)
2012 | 266 Pages | ISBN: 9400746601 | PDF | 2 MB
Compared to how it looked 150 years ago at the eve of the colonial conquest, today's India is almost completely unrecognizable. A sovereign nation, with a teeming, industrious population, it is an economic powerhouse and the world's largest democracy. It can boast of robust legal institutions and a dizzying plurality of cultures, in addition to a lively and unrestricted print and electronic media. The question is how did it get to where it is now? Covering the period from 1800 to 1950, this study of about a dozen makers of modern India is a valuable addition to India's cultural and intellectual history. More specifically, it shows how through the very act of writing, often in English, these thought leaders reconfigured Indian society. The very act of writing itself became endowed with almost a charismatic authority, which continued to influence generations that came after the exit of the authors from the national stage. By examining the lives and works of key players in the making of contemporary India, this study assesses their relationships with British colonialism and Indian traditions. Moreover, it analyzes how their use of the English language helped shape Indian modernity, thus giving rise to a uniquely Indian version of liberalism. The period was the fiery crucible from which an almost impossibly diverse and pluralistic new nation emerged through debate, dialogue, conflict, confrontation, and reconciliation. The author shows how the struggle for India was not only with British colonialism and imperialism, but also with itself and its past. He traces the religious and social reforms that laid the groundwork for the modern sub-continental state, proposed and advocated in English by the native voices that influenced the formation India's society. Merging culture, politics, language, and literature, this is a path breaking volume that adds much to our understanding of a nation that looks set to achieve much in the coming century.
