Als am Anfang der Dreissiger Jahre Ernst Jungers Essays Die totale Mobilmachung und Der Arbeiter erscheinen, erkennt Heidegger in ihnen unmittelbar den Geist der sich vollendenden Neuzeit. Fur ihn ist Junger der wahrhaft zeitgemasse Vertreter von Nietzsches Philosophie, die der Philosoph als das Ende der abendlandischen Metaphysik auslegt. Von 1934 an legt Heidegger in einer eindringlichen Auseinandersetzung immer wieder vor allem Jungers Der Arbeiter, aber auch andere Texte wie den Essay Uber den Schmerz und das spatere Werk Auf den Marmorklippen aus. Im Januar 1940 ruft er einen kHardback Kreis von Kollegen an der Freiburger Universitat zu einer Aussprache uber Junger zusammen. Anlasslich dieser Zusammenkunft entstehen Texte, in denen Heidegger sein Verstandnis von Jungers wichtigen Einsichten in den Charakter der Zeit ausfuhrlicher darlegt. Ihm gelten sie als unverzichtbar fur die Erfassung der durch den Willen zur Macht und der Technik gepragten, aus den Fugen geratenen Epoche. Zugleich unterzieht er sie einer destruierenden und zuweilen entschieden polemischen Deutung. Noch Jahre spater, in der ersten Halfte der Funfziger Jahre, als Junger weitere Schriften wie Der Friede oder Uber die Linie veroffentlicht, ringt Heidegger mit der Gestalt des Arbeiters, in der er den Nachfahren von Nietzsches Ubermenschen erblickt. Der Band 90 von Heideggers Gesamtausgabe Zu Ernst Junger enthalt jene Aufzeichnungen der Dreissiger Jahre, die Aussprache uber Junger sowie ein Manuskript mit der Uberschrift Gestalt aus dem Jahre 1954. Ausserdem umfasst er Randbemerkungen, die Heidegger in grosser Zahl in zwei Handexemplaren von Der Arbeiter, in Jungers Essaysammlung Blatter und Steine sowie in Uber die Linie uberaus sorgfaltig eingetragen hat. Zwei Faksimiles aus dem ersten Arbeiter-Handexemplar geben dem Leser einen unmittelbaren Eindruck des genauen Lesens. Der Band dokumentiert nicht nur Heideggers sehr entschlossen gefuhrte Auseinandersetzung mit Jungers aufmerksamen Analysen und programmatischen Stellungnahmen. Er gibt daruber hinaus einen Einblick in die Herkunft derjenigen Gedanken, die Heidegger spater zu seiner Erorterung des Gestells ausbaute.

The last 20 years have seen a remarkable increase in knowledge of the etiology of colorectal cancer. At least three aspects are much clearer. First, known environmental agents and behaviors have been identified that increase risk (for example, diets high in meat, obesity, and smoking ) or decrease risk (for example, diets high in plant foods, aspirin, and physical activity) of colorectal cancer. Second, germline mutations in specific genes have been identified for the major inherited syndromes involving colorectal cancer (FAP, Lynch Syndrome, Juvenile Polyposis, MYH-Associated Polyposis, Li-Fraumeni Syndrome) as have variants of genes that modify the risk associated with the known environmental agents. Third, the specific tissue, cellular, and molecular disturbances that characterize the progression to different subtypes of colorectal cancer have been recently described.
