Ein Verständnis der inneruniversitären Reformbestrebungen dieser Zeit ist nur möglich, wenn man die Gründungsgeschichte der Amerikawissenschaft an Universitäten der damaligen US-Besatzungszone nachzeichnet und in ihrer jeweils besonderen konzeptionellen und organisatorischen Ausprägung erfaßt.
