The Orthodox Church in Ukraine A Century of Separation (NIU Series in Orthodox Christian Studies)
Free Download The Orthodox Church in Ukraine: A Century of Separation (NIU Series in Orthodox Christian Studies) by Nicholas E. Denysenko
English | November 23, 2018 | ISBN: 0875807895 | 316 pages | PDF | 8.12 Mb
The bitter separation of Ukraine's Orthodox churches is a microcosm of its societal strife. From 1917 onward, church leaders failed to agree on the church's mission in the twentieth century. The core issues of dispute were establishing independence from the Russian church and adopting Ukrainian as the language of worship. Decades of polemical exchanges and public statements by leaders of the separated churches contributed to the formation of their distinct identities and sharpened the friction amongst their respective supporters.

The Oregon Trail (Milestones in American History)
Free Download Tim McNeese, "The Oregon Trail (Milestones in American History)"
English | 2009 | pages: 149 | ISBN: 160413027X | PDF | 3,6 mb
During the 19th century, hardy pioneers used the Oregon Trail to migrate to the Pacific Northwest. The five- to six-month journey spanned 2,170 miles west through territories that became the states of Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. However, the journey west was not necessarily a smooth one. According to some statistics, about one-tenth of the emigrants perished along the way. After the completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1869, traffic along the Oregon Trail declined. Yet, the trail was used until modern highways were constructed parallel to large portions of the trail during the 1890s. The Oregon Trail: Pathway to the West focuses on the period of 1840-1859, when approximately 52,000 pioneers moved to Oregon, and nearly five times that opted to move to California and Utah.

The Optimal Duration of Exclusive Breastfeeding A Systematic Review
Free Download Department of Child and Adolescent Health, "The Optimal Duration of Exclusive Breastfeeding: A Systematic Review"
English | 2002 | pages: 52 | ISBN: 9241595647 | PDF | 0,9 mb
The longstanding debate over the optimal duration of exclusive breastfeeding has centered on the so-called "weanling's dilemma" in developing countries: the choice between the known protective effect of exclusive breastfeeding against infectious morbidity and the (theoretical) insufficiency of breast milk alone to satisfy the infant's energy and micronutrient requirements beyond 4 months of age.

The Operatic State Cultural Policy and the Opera House
Free Download Ruth Bereson, "The Operatic State: Cultural Policy and the Opera House"
English | 2002 | pages: 237 | ISBN: 0415278511, 0415868297 | PDF | 0,8 mb
The Operatic State examines the cultural, financial, and political investments that have gone into the maintenance of opera and opera houses in Europe, the USA and Australia. It analyses opera's nearly immutable form throughout wars, revolutions, and vast social changes throughout the world. Bereson argues that by legitimising the power of the state through universally recognised ceremonial ritual, opera enjoys a privileged status across three continents, often to the detriment of popular and indigenous art forms.

The One State Reality What Is IsraelPalestine
Free Download The One State Reality: What Is Israel/Palestine? by Michael Barnett, Nathan J. Brown, Marc Lynch
English | March 15, 2023 | ISBN: 1501768409 | 372 pages | PDF | 7.69 Mb
The One State Reality argues that a one state reality already predominates in the territories controlled by the state of Israel. The editors show that starting with the one state reality rather than hoping for a two state solution reshapes how we regard the conflict, what we consider acceptable and unacceptable solutions, and how we discuss difficult normative questions. The One State Reality forces a reconsideration of foundational concepts such as state, sovereignty, and nation; encourages different readings of history; shifts conversation about solutions from two states to alternatives that borrow from other political contexts; and provides context for confronting uncomfortable questions such as whether Israel/Palestine is an "apartheid state."
