The Karamazov Correspondence Letters of Vladimir S. Soloviev
Free Download Vladimir S. Soloviev, "The Karamazov Correspondence: Letters of Vladimir S. Soloviev "
English | ISBN: 1644690535 | 2019 | 388 pages | PDF | 2 MB
The Karamazov Correspondence: Letters of Vladimir S. Soloviev represents the first fully annotated and chronologically arranged collection of the Russian philosopher-poet's most important letters, the vast majority of which have never before been translated into English. Soloviev was widely known for his close association with Fyodor M. Dostoevsky in the final years of the novelist's life, and these letters reflect many of the qualities and contradictions that also personify the title characters of Dostoevsky's last and greatest novel, The Brothers Karamazov. The selected letters cover all aspects of Soloviev's life, ranging from vital concerns about human rights and the political and religious turmoil of his day to matters related to family and friends, his love life, and early drafts of his works, including poetic endeavors.

The Journey of G. Mastorna The Film Fellini Didn't Make
Free Download The Journey of G. Mastorna: The Film Fellini Didn't Make by Federico Fellini, Dino Buzzati, Brunello Rondi, Bernardino Zapponi, translated by Marcus Perryman
English | August 1, 2013 | ISBN: 0857459708, 1782382305 | True EPUB | 226 pages | 1.6 MB
Federico Fellini's script for perhaps the most famous unmade film in Italian cinema, The Journey of G. Mastorna (1965/6), is published here for the first time in full English translation. It offers the reader a remarkable insight into Fellini's creative process and his fascination with human mortality and the great mystery of death. Written in collaboration with Dino Buzzati, Brunello Rondi, and Bernardino Zapponi, the project was ultimately abandoned for a number of reasons, including Fellini's near death, although it continued to inhabit his creative imagination and the landscape of his films for the rest of his career.

English | 2008 | pages: 242 | ISBN: 0061252719, 0061252700 | PDF | 1,4 mb
In the autumn of 1598, Abraham, a melancholy young Jewish gem merchant, seeks his fortune far from the imprisoning ghetto walls of Venice. Traveling halfway across the world, he lands in the lush and exotic Burmese kingdom of Pegu-an alien place, yet one where the jewel trader is not shunned for his faith. There is a price for his newfound freedom, however. Local custom demands that Abraham perform a duty he finds troubling and barbaric . . . and thus Mya, barely more than a girl, arrives to share his bed. Gently banishing his despair, awakening something profound within him, Mya ultimately accepts Abraham's protection and, unexpectedly, his love. But great social and political upheaval threatens to violently transform the Peguan empire-with devastating consequences for Abraham and Mya and their dreams for the future.

The Israeli Third Sector Between Welfare State and Civil Society
Free Download The Israeli Third Sector: Between Welfare State and Civil Society By Benjamin Gidron, Michal Bar, Hagai Katz (auth.)
2004 | 216 Pages | ISBN: 0306480298 | PDF | 4 MB
The First Directory of Israeli Researchers published a few years ago revealed for the first time that there were 48 researchers from 11 disciplines in 14 different academic institutions in this small Middle Eastern country. It is not surprising, therefore, that with such intellectual resources, Israel can produce year after year social science research of the highest quality such as this first case study of its Third Sector. The three authors, each with an impressive record ofhighly regarded, sophisticated empirical research were selected to participate in the first of a series of international comparative studies of nonprofit organizations in the mid-1990', directed by Lester M. Salamon, Director of the Center for Civil Society at Johns Hopkins University in the US. This book is an outcome of the analysis of data collected from two main sources:The Hopkins Project and the Israeli Third Sector Database recently developed by the Israeli Center forThird Sector Researchat Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Beer-Sheva. Originally part of an international study involving 40 countries in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the US, the first results were published in 1999 in Global CivilSociety:DimensionsoftheNonprofitSector, editedbySalamonand hisassociates. It was here that I learned for the first time the extent of the economic importance of the Israeli third sector, the subject of this book.

The Invisible Hands of U.S. Commercial Banking Reform Private Action and Public Guarantees
Free Download The Invisible Hands of U.S. Commercial Banking Reform: Private Action and Public Guarantees By Margaret M. Polski (auth.)
2003 | 121 Pages | ISBN: 1461350786 | PDF | 1 MB
This book is a product of my commitment to developing both theory and practice in political economy. I first became interested in economic and institutional change in the commercial banking industry when I took a seminar on financial insti- tions led by Robert Glauber in the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in the spring of 1995. In my experience, Bob is one of a handful of teachers who has the verve to challenge and inspire both esoteric and practical inquiry: the seminar grappled with practical business and policy problems in a way that posed a significant challenge to existing theories. In addition to dem- strating the need to better integrate theory and practice, it provided a perspective and an approach that I continue to find useful in research, consulting, and teaching. Conducting the research for this study has taught me many things about banking, regulation, and policy making, and I am grateful to a very large number of people for their assistance. Bob Glauber continues to be generous in discussing the ch- lenges of change in the financial services industry.

The Invention Of The Text
Free Download Gianfranco Marrone, "The Invention Of The Text "
English | ISBN: 8857523918 | 2014 | 200 pages | EPUB | 1046 KB
The notion of text is perhaps the most used and discussed within social and human sciences. Nevertheless, it is surprisingly one of the worst defined. Philology and Linguistics, Literary Criticism and Aesthetics, Philosophy of Language, Hermeneutics, Ethnology, Psychoanalysis, Sociology, Semiotics: all these disciplines refer in various ways to the "text", to make of it the basic object of their analysis or to measure the distance they keep from it. So what does "text" mean? What genealogy does this concept have? Why is there "no salvation outside the text"? This book shows why the text should be the formal model to explain all human, social, cultural and historic phenomena and, as a consequence, the product of a double invention: first as a sociocultural configuration, secondly as an analytical reconstruction.
