With its so-called Egyptian temple town and adjacent pyramid cemeteries, Sai Island is one of the prime examples for settlement policy of New Kingdom Egypt (c. 1530-1070 BC) in Upper Nubia (northern Sudan) and is the focus of this project. New fieldwork and multi-layered research conducted by the AcrossBorders project has provided fresh insights on living conditions in New Kingdom Nubia in direct comparison with Egypt. This volume is dedicated to SAV1 North, the sector situated along the northern enclosure wall. It was excavated between 2008 and 2012 by the Sai Island Archaeological Mission and processed within the framework of AcrossBorders. The principal focus of the book is the physical remains of SAV1 North: the architecture and material culture, with emphasis on the pottery and small finds. Datable to the mid to late 18th Dynasty, the building phase labelled as Level 3 was the heyday of sector SAV1 North - a time well-attested by several architectural remains with associated finds and pottery, which are all presented in the volume. A summary of thoughts on possible hints about the lifestyle and activities at SAV1 North preserved in the material remains completes AcrossBorders I. All in all, the evidence from SAV1 North underlines the important role Sai plays in understanding settlement patterns in New Kingdom Nubia. ![]() Free Download David Clapham, "Accommodating Difference: Evaluating Supported Housing for Vulnerable People" English | ISBN: 1447306341 | 2015 | 260 pages | PDF | 3 MB For vulnerable older, disabled or homeless people who need accommodation and support, many different forms of housing have developed - whether hostels, group homes, extra-care housing or retirement villages. But do these settings effectively improve the well-being of those who live in them? This important book explores the impact of different forms of policy and practice on the lives of vulnerable people, arguing for a flexible policy approach that places people in control of their own lives. It puts forward an original evaluation framework and applies this to case studies of provision in Britain and Sweden - two countries with long and differing experiences - to raise interesting and important issues for the future. The book will be a valuable resource for those working in and devising policy for supported housing as well as students on urban studies and planning courses and those studying health and social care subjects who wish to better understand the nature of supported housing.
![]() Free Download Alice Bradbury, "Ability, Inequality and Post-Pandemic Schools: Rethinking Contemporary Myths of Meritocracy" English | ISBN: 1447346610 | 2021 | 184 pages | PDF | 15 MB The COVID-19 pandemic closed schools, but this hiatus provided an opportunity to rethink the fundamental principles of our education system. In this thought-provoking book, Alice Bradbury discusses how, before the pandemic, the education system assumed ability to be measurable and innate, and how this meritocracy myth reinforced educational inequalities - a central issue during the crisis. Drawing on a project dealing with ability-grouping practices, Bradbury analyses how the recent educational developments of datafication and neuroscience have revised these ideas about how we classify and label children, and how we can rethink the idea of innate intelligence as we rebuild a post-pandemic schooling system. ![]() Free Download ASK STAX: Master Writing AI Prompts in 7 Simple, Powerful Steps by Fraser Hay English | August 6, 2024 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B0DCGGCKRX | 115 pages | EPUB | 10 Mb ASK STAX®: Master Writing AI Prompts in 7 Simple, Powerful Steps
