Elngar English | October 28, 2024 | ISBN: 1032738502 | 246 pages | MOBI | 7.00 Mb The industrial landscape is changing rapidly, and so is global society. This change is driven by the growing adoption of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. IIoT and AI are transforming the way industrial engineering is done, enabling new levels of automation, productivity, and efficiency. However, as IIoT and AI become more pervasive in the industrial world, they also offer new security risks that must be addressed to ensure the reliability and safety of critical systems. ![]() Free Download L.H.M. Ling, "India China: Rethinking Borders and Security " English | ISBN: 0472130064 | 2016 | 192 pages | EPUB | 910 KB Challenging the Westphalian view of international relations, which focuses on the sovereignty of states and the inevitable potential for conflict, the authors from the Borderlands Study Group reconceive borders as capillaries enabling the flow of material, cultural, and social benefits through local communities, nation-states, and entire regions. By emphasizing local agency and regional interdependencies, this metaphor reconfigures current narratives about the China India border and opens a new perspective on the long history of the Silk Roads, the modern BCIM Initiative, and dam construction along the Nu River in China and the Teesta River in India. ![]() Free Download Jinba Tenzin, "In the Land of the Eastern Queendom: The Politics of Gender and Ethnicity on the Sino-Tibetan Border " English | ISBN: 0295993073 | 2013 | 188 pages | EPUB | 2 MB Open-access edition: DOI 10.6069/9780295804842 ![]() Free Download and Medicine National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, "Improving the American Community Survey: Proceedings of a Workshop" English | ISBN: 0309490006 | 2019 | 210 pages | EPUB | 9 MB Since its origin 23 years ago as a pilot test conducted in four U.S. counties, the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS) has been the focus of continuous research, development, and refinement. The survey cleared critical milestones 14 years ago when it began full-scale operations, including comprehensive nationwide coverage, and 5 years later when the ACS replaced a long-form sample questionnaire in the 2010 census as a source of detailed demographic and socioeconomic information. Throughout that existence and continuing today, ACS research and testing has worked to improve the survey's conduct in the face of challenges ranging from detailed and procedural to the broad and existential. ![]() Free Download Sarah Dellmann, "Images of Dutchness: Popular Visual Culture, Early Cinema and the Emergence of a National Cliché, 1800-1914 " English | ISBN: 9462983003 | 2018 | 424 pages | PDF | 22 MB Why do early films present the Netherlands as a country full of canals and windmills, where people wear traditional costumes and wooden shoes, while industries and modern urban life are all but absent? Images of Dutchness investigates the roots of this visual repertoire from diverse sources, ranging from magazines to tourist brochures, from anthropological treatises to advertising trade cards, stereoscopic photographs, picture postcards, magic lantern slide sets and films of early cinema. This richly illustrated book provides an in-depth study of the fascinating corpus of popular visual media and their written comments that are studied for the first time. Through the combined analysis of words and images, the author identifies not only what has been considered Ÿtypically DutchŒ in the long nineteenth century, but also provides new insights into the logic and emergence of national clichés in the Western world. ![]() Free Download Image Models (and their Speech Model Cousins) By Charles Byrne (auth.), Stephen E. We thank Stephen E. Levinson and Larry Shepp for organizing the workshop and for editing the proceedings. We also take this opportunity to thank the National Science Foundation, the Army Research Office, and the National Security Agency, whose financial support made the workshop possible. A vner Friedman Willard Miller, Jr. v PREFACE This volume is an attempt to explore the interface between two diverse areas of applied mathematics that are both "customers" of the maximum likelihood methodology: emission tomography (on the one hand) and hid den Markov models as an approach to speech understanding (on the other hand). There are other areas where maximum likelihood is used, some of which are represented in this volume: parsing of text (Jelinek), microstruc ture of materials (Ji), and DNA sequencing (Nelson). Most of the partici pants were in the main areas of speech or emission density reconstruction. Of course, there are many other areas where maximum likelihood is used that are not represented here. ![]() Free Download Gaston Franssen, "Idolizing Authorship: Literary Celebrity and the Construction of Identity, 1800 to the Present" English | ISBN: 9089649638 | 2017 | 282 pages | PDF | 2 MB Though these days, our celebrity culture tends to revolve around movie stars and pop musicians, there have been plenty of celebrity authors over the years and around the world. This volume brings together a number of contributors to look at how and why certain writers have attained celebrity throughout history. How were their images as celebrities constructed by themselves and in complicity with their fans? And how did that process and its effects differ from country to country and era to era? ![]() Free Download Identification, Characterization, and Manipulation of Neuronal Ensembles English | 2025 | ISBN: 1071642073 | 282 Pages | PDF (True) | 34 MB This volume looks at the latest advancements made in the study of neuronal ensembles and their role in brain processes. The chapters in this book cover topics such as approaches to implementing multisensory experiments including the basics of head fixation and analysis of laminar electrophysiology; dimensionality reduction algorithms and network analysis applications for neuronal population recordings; the use of graph theory to detect groups of neurons in optical recordings with high levels of coactivity; tagging and manipulation techniques using optogenetic and chemogenetic approaches to study memory engrams; and methods to characterize molecular signatures of neuronal ensembles using spatially defined transcriptomics. In the Neuromethods series style, chapters include the kind of detail and key advice from the specialists needed to get successful results in your laboratory. ![]() Free Download INVESTOR'S GUIDE TO TAX EFFICIENCY: DISCOVER THE FUNDAMENTAL TECHNIQUES FOR CREATING A LARGE WEALTH POOL, MINIMIZING TAXES, TAKING ADVANTAGE OF GLOBAL ... The delicate interplay between memory effects and the occurrence of hys teresis loops has the effect that hysteresis is a genuinely nonlinear phenomenon which is usually non-smooth and thus not easy to treat mathematically. Hence it was only in the early seventies that the group of Russian scientists around M. A. Krasnoselskii initiated a systematic mathematical investigation of the phenomenon of hysteresis which culminated in the fundamental monograph Krasnoselskii-Pokrovskii (1983). In the meantime, many mathematicians have contributed to the mathematical theory, and the important monographs of 1. Mayergoyz (1991) and A. Visintin (1994a) have appeared. We came into contact with the notion of hysteresis around the year 1980. |
