Free Download Theoretical Chemistry and Physics of Heavy and Superheavy Elements By S. Wilson, U. Kaldor (auth.), U. Kaldor, S. Wilson (eds.) 2003 | 565 Pages | ISBN: 9048163137 | PDF | 26 MB Quantum mechanics provides the fundamental theoretical apparatus for describing the structure and properties of atoms and molecules in terms of the behaviour of their fundamental components, electrons and nudeL For heavy atoms and molecules containing them, the electrons can move at speeds which represent a substantial fraction of the speed of light, and thus relativity must be taken into account. Relativistic quantum mechanics therefore provides the basic formalism for calculating the properties of heavy-atom systems. The purpose of this book is to provide a detailed description of the application of relativistic quantum mechanics to the many-body prob lem in the theoretical chemistry and physics of heavy and superheavy elements. Recent years have witnessed a continued and growing interest in relativistic quantum chemical methods and the associated computa tional algorithms which facilitate their application. This interest is fu elled by the need to develop robust, yet efficient theoretical approaches, together with efficient algorithms, which can be applied to atoms in the lower part of the Periodic Table and, more particularly, molecules and molecular entities containing such atoms. Such relativistic theories and computational algorithms are an essential ingredient for the description of heavy element chemistry, becoming even more important in the case of superheavy elements. They are destined to become an indispensable tool in the quantum chemist's armoury. Indeed, since relativity influences the structure of every atom in the Periodic Table, relativistic molecular structure methods may replace in many applications the non-relativistic techniques widely used in contemporary research.
Free Download E J David Kramer, "Theologian of the Resurrection: N.T. Wright's Eschatology and Mission Theology " English | ISBN: 9004701850 | 2024 | 344 pages | PDF | 3 MB In this study, N.T. Wright's exceptional work on the resurrection is shown to form the centre of his eschatology and mission theology. Wright's emphasis on the historicity of Jesus' resurrection for the gospel's missional encounter with the West is highlighted. By drawing out the significance of the resurrection for Wright's eschatological narrative, the author sets the stage for Wright's mission theology, focusing on the church, evangelism, political theology, and eschatological ethics. Wright's emphasis on doing history is explained in terms of the theological conviction that, since God acted in history, historical study has become a sphere of missional engagement.
Free Download Alex McKay, "Their Footprints Remain: Biomedical Beginnings Across the Indo-Tibetan Frontier" English | 2008 | pages: 303 | ISBN: 9053565183 | PDF | 1,7 mb By the end of the 19th century, British imperial medical officers and Christian medical missionaries had introduced Western medicine to Tibet, Sikkim, and Bhutan. Their Footprints Remain uses archival sources, personal letters, diaries, and oral sources in order to tell the fascinating story of how this once-new medical system became imbedded in the Himalayas. Of interest to anyone with an interest in medical history and anthropology, as well as the Himalayan world, this volume not only identifies the individuals involved and describes how they helped to spread this form of imperialist medicine, but also discusses its reception by a local people whose own medical practices were based on an entirely different understanding of the world. Free Download Theater and the Sacred in the Middle Ages by Andrzej Dąbrówka, translated by Jan Burzyński, Mikołaj Golubiewski English | July 31, 2019 | ISBN: 3631655010 | True EPUB | 576 pages | 0.8 MB The book presents a theory of relationships between the forms of devotion and early drama genres. The historical background is the circumstances of the Church becoming independent of the Empire. A theological and philosophical aspect of the transformation of piety at the time was the specification of the ontological status of the sacred (spiritualization) and "shifting it to Heaven" (transcendentalization). In opposition to a theory of Western civilization as a process of increasing individual self-control, the author argues for the need to take into account purely religious conditions (the idea of recapitulation). This allows the author to develop a holistic aesthetics for the religiously inspired creativity in the period spanning the 11th-15th centuries and to propose a new typology of medieval drama.
