Grzymała-Busse (eds.) 2004 | 860 Pages | ISBN: 3540221174 | PDF | 9 MB In recent years rough set theory has attracted the attention of many researchers and practitioners all over the world, who have contributed essentially to its development and applications. Weareobservingagrowingresearchinterestinthefoundationsofroughsets, including the various logical, mathematical and philosophical aspects of rough sets. Some relationships have already been established between rough sets and other approaches, and also with a wide range of hybrid systems. As a result, rough sets are linked with decision system modeling and analysis of complex systems, fuzzy sets, neural networks, evolutionary computing, data mining and knowledge discovery, pattern recognition, machine learning, and approximate reasoning. In particular, rough sets are used in probabilistic reasoning, granular computing (including information granule calculi based on rough mereology), intelligent control, intelligent agent modeling, identi?cation of autonomous s- tems, and process speci?cation. Free Download Thomas Waller, "Roberto Schwarz and World Literature: Critical Essays " English | ISBN: 3031660021 | 2024 | 320 pages | EPUB, PDF | 1088 KB + 6 MB First of its kind, this essay collection examines the intellectual trajectory of Latin America's foremost literary critic and dialectician, underscoring its relevance for contemporary debates on world literature. The volume shows how Schwarz's concrete analyses of Brazilian literature and culture offer a theoretical blueprint to understand the literary registration of capitalism's combined and uneven development. Exploring concepts such as misplaced ideas, objective form, and volubility, the contributors show how the nuance of Schwarz's interpretive practice can be productively remodelled into a program for world-literary studies. Throughout the volume, Schwarz's unparalleled contributions to cultural theory, long neglected in the Anglophone academy, are rigorously and creatively debated. Roberto Schwarz and World Literature is a primer on literary criticism as concrete practice and an indispensable book for those interested in how literary form mediates social reality.

Free Download David Gold, "Rhetoric at the Margins: Revising the History of Writing Instruction in American Colleges, 1873-1947" English | 2008 | pages: 218 | ISBN: 0809328348 | PDF | 2,3 mb Rhetoric at the Margins: Revising the History of Writing Instruction in American Colleges, 1873-1947 examines the rhetorical education of African American, female, and working-class college students in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Author David Gold uses archival materials to study three types of institutions historically under-represented in disciplinary histories: a black liberal arts college in rural East Texas; a public women's college; and an independent teacher training school. The rich case studies complement and challenge previous disciplinary histories and suggest that the epistemological schema that have long applied to pedagogical practices may actually limit our understanding of those practices. Gold argues that each of these schools championed intellectual and pedagogical traditions that differed from the Eastern liberal arts model - a model that often serves as the standard for rhetorical education. He demonstrates that by emphasizing community uplift and civic participation, these schools created contexts in which otherwise moribund curricular features of the era - such as strict classroom discipline and an emphasis on prescription - took on new possibilities. Rhetoric at the Margins describes the recent revisionist turn in rhetoric and composition historiography, argues for the importance of diverse institutional microhistories, and asserts that the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries offer rich lessons for contemporary classroom practice. The study brings alive the voices of black, female, rural, southern, and first-generation college students and their instructors, linking these histories to the history of rhetoric and writing. |
