Proceedings By Alistair Moffat, Justin Zobel (auth.), Xiaofang Zhou, Stanley Su, Mike P. Papazoglou, Maria Elzbieta Orlowska, Keith Jeffery (eds.) 2004 | 745 Pages | ISBN: 3540238948 | PDF | 9 MB We have described the development of a new micro-payment system, NetPay, f- turing different ways of managing electronic money, or e-coins. NetPay provides an off-line, anonymous protocol that supports high-volume, low-cost electronic trans- tions over the Internet. We developed three kinds of e-wallets to manage coins in a NetPay-based system: a sever-side e-wallet allowing multiple computer access to- coins; a client-side e-wallet allowing customer PC management of the e-coins, and a cookie-based e-wallet cache to improve performance of the client-side e-wallet c- munication overhead. Experiences to date with NetPay prototypes have demonstrated it provides an effective micro-payment strategy and customers welcome the ability to manage their electronic coins in different ways. Free Download Virtual Applications: Applications with Virtual Inhabited 3D Worlds By Peter Bøgh Andersen, Lars Qvortrup (auth.), Peter Andersen, Lars Qvortrup (eds.) 2004 | 260 Pages | ISBN: 1849968918 | PDF | 7 MB 3D Virtual Applications: Applications with Virtual Inhabited 3D Worlds deals with the use of virtual inhabited 3D spaces in different domains of society. (Other volumes deal with interaction, production methodology and space.) From focusing on virtual reality (a reality into which users and objects from the real world should be moved) we are increasingly focusing on augmented reality (i.e. on moving computers out into the reality of real users, objects and activities). This book deals with the use of virtual inhabited 3D spaces in both contexts. Based on the structuring of the application domains, this book looks at the use of VR and augmented reality in the following major application domains:- Production oriented applications - use of VR and augmented reality for control of complex production plants, for navigation support (ships, cars, aeroplanes) and for support of collaborative work processes- Communication support applications - virtual spaces are used for supporting communication in learning environments and for support of organisational communication. Also virtual spaces are used for supporting the navigation of people in public spaces, i.e. as maps, planning tools- Scientific applications - use of 3D models for medical research; use of dynamic models for representation of abstract concepts and ideas (data-mining applications); use of dynamic 3D models for simulating biological or social processes- Artistic and cultural applications - the construction of stages representing concepts and/or emotions Free Download Kev Darling - Vickers Supermarine Merlin Seafire Guideline Publications Ltd | 2000 | ISBN: N/A | English | 40 pages | PDF | 107.61 MB Warpaint Series No. 72 Free Download Vectors: Heroes, Villains, and Heartbreak on the Bridge of the U.S. Navy by Thomas B. Modly English | April 4, 2023 | ISBN: 1642257036 | 520 pages | EPUB | 12 Mb Thomas Modly had an eclectic career in the military, academia, business, and government when he answered the call to service in 2017 and returned to the Navy where his career began. His experience, as chronicled in these pages, tells the story of Secretary Modly's quest to advance the Department of the Navy's preparedness for the challenges of this century. As Acting Secretary of the Navy he held fast to the mantra of "acting, not pretending," and thus advocated aggressively for the Navy and Marine Corps' future ― a future he believed would be defined by uncertainty and unpredictability. Every Friday he wrote a personal message to the entire Department regardless of rank. Those messages were called SECNAV Vectors. Each Vector was intended to clearly communicate his priorities and to establish a rapport with all levels of the organization. The subject of each Vector was inspired by real events that occurred in real time. As these events unfolded , the Secretary's unyielding emphasis on being prepared for unpredictable events are proven to be prescient as the Navy found itself, unintentionally, in the center of COVID-19 crisis.
