The Determinants of Diachronic Stability
Free Download Anne Breitbarth, "The Determinants of Diachronic Stability "
English | ISBN: 9027202419 | 2019 | 300 pages | PDF | 9 MB
While much of the literature has focused on explaining diachronic variation and change, the fact that sometimes change does not seem to happen has received much less attention. The current volume unites ten contributions that look for the determinants of diachronic stability, mainly in the areas of morphology and (morpho)syntax. The relevant question is approached from different angles, both empirical and theoretical. Empirically, the contributions deal with the absence of change where one may expect it, uncover underlying stability where traditionally diachronic change was postulated, and, inversely, superficial stability that disguises underlying change. Determining factors ranging from internal causes to language contact are explored. Theoretically, the questions of whether stable variation is possible, and how it can be modeled are addressed. The volume will be of interest to linguists working on the causes of language change, and to scholars working on the history of Germanic, Romance, and Sinitic languages.

The Deep Psychology of BDSM and Kink
Free Download The Deep Psychology of BDSM and Kink By Douglas Thomas
2023 | 294 Pages | ISBN: 1032122099 | EPUB | 1 MB
This fascinating volume investigates how the concept of soul is connected to BDSM and kink, exploring the world of alternative sexualities through the psychology of C. G. Jung and James Hillman as readers are guided on a provocative and lively journey through darker aspects of the sexual imagination. Contextualized both in sexual history and contemporary events, the book unveils surprising points of correspondence between the tortured fantasy-images of Jung's The Red Book and the modern world of BDSM and describes from Hillman's psychology a soul-centered perspective that affirms the psychological value of fantasy-images animating our human lives. The book also considers the collective archetypal sources of historical trauma which have provided inspiration to some of the more disquieting aspects of BDSM and details how the deep psychology of BDSM creates a space in the modern world to ethically engage these practices. Kinksters and BDSM practitioners will discover a psychological language that clarifies and affirms why these activities and relationships can be so intensely intimate, pleasurable, and transformative. Psychotherapists and enthusiasts of Jungian and archetypal psychology will find fresh insights here that support the practice of BDSM as a form of individuation and a path for bringing soul into the world.

The Decisive Duel Spitfire vs 109
Free Download David Isby - The Decisive Duel: Spitfire vs 109
Little, Brown and Company | 2012 | ISBN: 140870305X | English | 600 pages | PDF | 114.09 MB
Many such 'specialist' histories are little more than a catalogue of technical details, dates and numbers - accurate but dry. Here, though, David Isby writes a scholarly account of the development of the two key fighter aircraft of the Second World War which holds the attention throughout. It is punctuated with accounts of events told by the protagonists, covering every aspect of the story - from the development of modern fighter aircraft through to the final fates of both types. In doing so Isby draws on hundreds of sources and knits these together to produce a supremely well-written and complete narrative, easily on a par with the best of the genre.

The Dark Side of Statius' Achilleid Epic Distorted
Free Download Julene Abad Del Vecchio, "The Dark Side of Statius' Achilleid: Epic Distorted"
English | ISBN: 0198895208 | 2024 | 288 pages | PDF | 3 MB
The Dark Side of Statius' Achilleid explores systematically and for the first time the darker aspects of Statius' Achilleid, bringing to light the poem's tragic and epic dimensions. By seeking to position at centre-stage these darker elements, the book offers several new readings of the Achilleid in relation to its literary inheritance, its gender dynamics, and its generic tensions. This volume delves beneath the surface of a story that ostensibly deals with a "light" subject matter-the cross-dressing of a young Achilles on Scyros-to carry out an in-depth examination of the poem's relationship to its epic and tragic precursors, and to explore its more serious themes. In this book, the poem is shown to challenge traditional epic narratives, and to display Achilles' complex familial relationships, as well as his transgressive and unique heroism. The

The Dark Side of Leadership An Institutional Perspective
Free Download Bekir Emre Kurtulmuş, "The Dark Side of Leadership: An Institutional Perspective"
English | ISBN: 3030020371 | 2019 | 95 pages | AZW3 | 523 KB
Contrary to the notion that leaders contribute to positive behaviour within organisations, this book reflects growing interest in the 'dark side' of leadership: the unethical and immoral personalities that can reside in positions of power. Drawing on empirical and theoretical analysis, the author examines immorality within leadership and the underlying causes behind this behaviour. Focusing on the impact of institutional pressures, this book analyses how such behaviour is influenced by internal and external factors. By employing a theoretical framework, the author seeks to demonstrate that institutions either compel leaders to be ethical and moral, or in contrast, they actually provide legitimacy for immoral actions. An insightful and thought-provoking read, The Dark Side of Leadership will be of interest to those studying leadership, HRM, and business ethics, as well as social psychology scholars.
