Sunyaev , Peter Ballmoos English | PDF (True) | 2005 | 306 Pages | ISBN : 3540405011 | 3.3 MB After three decades of intense research in X-ray and gamma-ray astronomy, the time was ripe to summarize basic knowledge on X-ray and gamma-ray spectroscopy for interested students and researchers ready to become involved in new high-energy missions. This volume exposes both the scientific basics and modern methods of high-energy spectroscopic astrophysics. The emphasis is on physical principles and observing methods rather than a discussion of particular classes of high-energy objects, but many examples and new results are included in the three chapters as well. ![]() Free Download High-Energy Physics and Cosmology: Celebrating the Impact of 25 Years of Coral Gables Conferences by Behram N. Kursunoglu, Stephan L. Mintz, Arnold Perlmutter English | PDF | 1997 | 237 Pages | ISBN : 030645713X | 21.8 MB The 25'" Coral Gables Conference was the culmination of the series that was begun in 1964. The conferences evolved under the titles that in~lude: Symmetry Principles at High Energy; Fundamental Interactions; Orbis Scientiae; and, occasionally, Unified Symmetry in the Small and in the Large. There was a pause after the 2()1h meeting in 1983 which was dedicated to P. A. M. Dirac. The conferences were resumed in 1993. Some of the reminiscences involved the absence of great minds who attended these meetings in the past and who were no longer with us. The list includes, just to name a few: Julian Schwinger, Robert Oppenheimer, Lars Onsager, Robert Hofstater, Abdus Salam, Richard Feynman, Stanislov Ulam, P. A. M. Dirac, Lord C. P. Snow, Eugene P. Wigner, Vladimir K. Zworykin, and Dixie Lee Ray. Most of these people were among the architects of modern physics and had participated in many of the early Coral Gables Conferences. We miss them. These conferences have contributed to the progress in high energy physics and cosmology. This year, again, papers were presented on familiar topics, such as neutrino masses, age and total mass of the universe, on the nature of dark matter, and on supersymmetry. The latter has now become a perennial issue. Like the weather, we all talk about it, but, so far cannot do anything to affect it. Another favorite subject was so-called monopoles, which theoretically participate in phenomena like condensation, confinement of electric charge, confinement of monopoles themselves, etc. ![]() Free Download High Temperature Electronics Design for Aero Engine Controls and Health Monitoring by Lucian Stoica English | PDF | 2016 | 162 Pages | ISBN : 8793379250 | 104.1 MB There is a growing desire to install electronic power and control systems in high temperature harsh environments to improve the accuracy of critical measurements, reduce the amount of cabling and to eliminate cooling systems. Typical target applications include electronics for energy exploration, power generation and control systems. ![]() Free Download High Stakes: Testing for Tracking, Promotion, and Graduation By National Research Council; Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education; Board on Testing and Assessment; Committee on Appropriate Test Use; Robert M. Hauser; Jay P. Heubert 1999 | 350 Pages | ISBN: 0309062802 | EPUB | 1 MB Everyone is in favor of "high education standards" and "fair testing" of student achievement, but there is little agreement as to what these terms actually mean. High Stakes looks at how testing affects critical decisions for American students. As more and more tests are introduced into the country's schools, it becomes increasingly important to know how those tests are used--and misused--in assessing children's performance and achievements. High Stakes focuses on how testing is used in schools to make decisions about tracking and placement, promotion and retention, and awarding or withholding high school diplomas. This book sorts out the controversies that emerge when a test score can open or close gates on a student's educational pathway. The expert panel: Proposes how to judge the appropriateness of a test. Explores how to make tests reliable, valid, and fair. Puts forward strategies and practices to promote proper test use. Recommends how decisionmakers in education should--and should not--use test results. The book discusses common misuses of testing, their political and social context, what happens when test issues are taken to court, special student populations, social promotion, and more. High Stakes will be of interest to anyone concerned about the long-term implications for individual students of picking up that Number 2 pencil: policymakers, education administrators, test designers, teachers, and parents. ![]() Free Download Hesitant Fuzzy and Probabilistic Information Fusion: Theory and Applications (Uncertainty and Operations Research) by Zhan Su, Zeshui Xu, Shen Zhang English | July 3, 2024 | ISBN: 9819731399 | 159 pages | MOBI | 18 Mb This book introduces the current research progress on hesitant fuzzy decision-making based on probability theory and methods. From the perspectives of theory expansion, information fusion, and information mining, it explores novel perspectives, ideas, and techniques for addressing hesitant fuzzy uncertain decision-making problems and demonstrates them through practical applications and case studies. It aims to provide a reference for researchers, practitioners, and graduate students in the fields of decision analysis, fuzzy theory, and information fusion. ![]() Free Download Hesiod's Ascra By Anthony T. Edwards 2004 | 220 Pages | ISBN: 0520929578 | PDF | 1 MB In Works and Days, one of the two long poems that have come down to us from Hesiod, the poet writes of farming, morality, and what seems to be a very nasty quarrel with his brother Perses over their inheritance. In this book, Anthony T. Edwards extracts from the poem a picture of the social structure of Ascra, the hamlet in northern Greece where Hesiod lived, most likely during the seventh century b.c.e. Drawing on the evidence of trade, food storage, reciprocity, and the agricultural regime as Hesiod describes them in Works and Days, Edwards reveals Ascra as an autonomous village, outside the control of a polis, less stratified and integrated internally than what we observe even in Homer. In light of this reading, theconflict between Hesiod and Perses emerges as a dispute about the inviolability of the community's external boundary and the degree of interobligation among those within the village. Hesiod's Ascra directly counters the accepted view of Works and Days, which has Hesiod describing a peasant society subordinated to the economic and political control of an outside elite. Through his deft analysis, Edwards suggests a new understanding of both Works and Days and the social and economic organization of Hesiod's time and place. ![]() Free Download Herbs in Every Season: 48 Edible and Medicinal Herbs for the Kitchen, Garden, and Apothecary by Bevin Cohen English | March 25th, 2025 | ISBN: 1643261967 | 252 pages | True EPUB | 78.97 MB An accessible exploration of how herbs can be used for medicinal and culinary purposes year round, from gardening to cooking-you'll learn how to use herbs in a myriad of life-changing ways. ![]() Free Download Hematology for Students and Practitioners, Including Practical Hematology, 7th Edition by Ramnik Sood English | 2024 | ISBN: 935466458X | 819 Pages | True PDF | 63 MB ![]() Free Download Tom Cole, "Hell West and Crooked: A Living Legend, a Real-life Crocodile Dundee" English | 2013 | ISBN: 0732297311 | EPUB | pages: 352 | 0.5 mb The bestselling story of a real-life Crocodile Dundee. the bestselling story of a real-life Crocodile Dundee.
