Handbook of Practical X-Ray Fluorescence Analysis
Free Download Handbook of Practical X-Ray Fluorescence Analysis by Burkhard Beckhoff, habil. Birgit Kanngießer, Norbert Langhoff, Reiner Wedell, Helmut Wolff
English | PDF | 2006 | 896 Pages | ISBN : 3540286039 | 36.2 MB
X-Ray ?uorescence analysis (XRF) has developed into a well-established multi-elemental analysis technique with a very wide ?eld of practical app- cations, especially those requiring nondestructive analytical methods. Over a long period of time, steady progress of XRF was made, both methodological and instrumental. Within the last decade, however, advancements in te- nology, software development, and methodologies for quanti?cation have p- vided an impetus to XRF research and application, leading to striking new improvements. The recent technological advances, including table-top inst- ments that take advantage of novel low-power micro-focus tubes, novel X-ray optics and detectors, as well as simpli?ed access to synchrotron radiation, have made it possible to extend XRF to low Z elements and to obtain t- and three-dimensional information from a sample on a micrometer-scale. The development of portable and hand-held devices has enabled a more ?exible use of XRF in a variety of new situations, such as archaeometry and process control. Furthermore, synchrotron radiation provides high excitation ?ux and even speciation capabilities due to energetically tunable radiation. Because of these recent advancements, the editors decided to compile a practical handbook of XRF as are source for scientists and industrial user sthat provides enough information to conceive and set up modern XRF experiments for use in awide range of practical applications. Additionally, selected sections consist of a concise summary of background information for readers who wish to gain a more in-depth understanding of the topics without conducting a lengthy search of the literature. The present handbook is not intended to be a textbook with interdependent chapters, rather a reference in which the information in each sectionis largely self-contained.

Handbook of Japanese Semantics and Pragmatics
Free Download Wesley M. Jacobsen, "Handbook of Japanese Semantics and Pragmatics "
English | ISBN: 1614512884 | 2020 | 887 pages | EPUB | 5 MB
The volume on Semantics and Pragmatics presents a collection of studies on linguistic meaning in Japanese, either as conventionally encoded in linguistic form (the field of semantics) or as generated by the interaction of form with context (the field of pragmatics), representing a range of ideas and approaches that are currently most influentialin these fields. The studies are organized around a model that has long currency in traditional Japanese grammar, whereby the linguistic clause consists of a multiply nested structure centered in a propositional core of objective meaning around which forms are deployed that express progressively more subjective meaning as one moves away from the core toward the periphery of the clause.

Handbook of Japanese Lexicon and Word Formation
Free Download Taro Kageyama, "Handbook of Japanese Lexicon and Word Formation "
English | ISBN: 1614512752 | 2016 | 747 pages | EPUB | 87 MB
This volume presents a comprehensive survey of the lexicon and word formation processes in contemporary Japanese, with particular emphasis on their typologically characteristic features and their interactions with syntax and semantics. Through contacts with a variety of languages over more than two thousand years of history, Japanese has developed a complex vocabulary system that is composed of four lexical strata: (i) native Japanese, (ii) mimetic, (iii) Sino-Japanese, and (iv) foreign (especially English). This hybrid composition of the lexicon, coupled with the agglutinative character of the language by which morphology is closely associated with syntax, gives rise to theoretically intriguing interactions with word formation processes that are not easily found with inflectional, isolate, or polysynthetic types of languages.

Handbook of Japanese Applied Linguistics
Free Download Masahiko Minami, "Handbook of Japanese Applied Linguistics "
English | ISBN: 1614512450 | 2016 | 578 pages | EPUB | 26 MB
Applied linguistics is the best single label to represent a wide range of contemporary research at the intersection of linguistics, anthropology, psychology, and sociology, to name a few. The Handbook of Japanese Applied Linguistics reflects crosscurrents in applied linguistics, an ever-developing branch/discipline of linguistics. The book is divided into seven sections, where each chapter discusses in depth the importance ofparticular topics, presenting not only new findings in Japanese, but also practical implications for other languages. Section 1 examines first language acquisition/development, whereas Section 2 covers issues related to second language acquisition/development and bilingualism/multilingualism. Section 3 presents problems associated with the teaching and learning of foreign languages. Section 4 undertakes questions in corpus/computational linguistics. Section 5 deals with clinical linguistics, and Section 6 takes up concerns in the area of translation/interpretation. Finally, Section 7 discusses Japanese sign language. Covering a wide range of current issues in an in an in-depth, comprehensive manner, the book will be useful for researchers as well as graduate students who are interested in Japanese linguistics in general, and applied linguistics in particular.

Handbook of Critical Whiteness Deconstructing Dominant Discourses Across Disciplines
Free Download Jioji Ravulo, "Handbook of Critical Whiteness: Deconstructing Dominant Discourses Across Disciplines"
English | ISBN: 9819750849 | 2025 | 1393 pages | EPUB, PDF | 20 MB + 23 MB
This timely handbook responds to the international drive to know more about Whiteness - its origins, its impacts and, importantly, the means for diffusing it. Guided by critical Whiteness theory, the volume deconstructs, decodes and disrupts Whiteness as it is constructed and employed in contemporary and diverse contexts. To do so, the international contributors discuss and critique the role of 21st-century Whiteness across a range of professions and disciplines relevant to the needs of contemporary global citizens. Failure to deconstruct Whiteness as an ideology and the power structure underlying national and global racial inequalities undermines the efforts to improve social, health and economic outcomes for societies and nations on a grand scale.
