The Spiritual Condition of Infants A Biblical-Historical Survey and Systematic Proposal
Free Download Adam Harwood, "The Spiritual Condition of Infants: A Biblical-Historical Survey and Systematic Proposal"
English | ISBN: 1608998444 | 2011 | 196 pages | EPUB | 613 KB
What is the spiritual condition of infants? According to the Augustinian-Calvinist view, all people inherit from the first Adam both a sinful nature and his guilt. The result is that all infants are subject to the judgment of God against their nature before they knowingly commit any sinful actions. But is this the clear teaching of Scripture? In The Spiritual Condition of Infants, Adam Harwood examines ten relevant biblical texts and the writings of sixteen theologians in order to clarify the spiritual condition of infants. Although no passage explicitly states the spiritual condition of infants, each text makes contributions by addressing the doctrines of man, sin, the church, and salvation. If this biblical-historical analysis exposes the traditional Augustinian-Calvinist view to be inadequate, then is it possible to construct an alternate view of the spiritual condition of infants? Such a view should remain faithful to the biblical emphasis on humankind's connection to Adam and his sin but also recognize the guilt and condemnation of an individual only in the manner and time that God does in Scripture. That is the aim of this book.

The Spirit and the Secular A Study on the Holy Spirit and Church Planting
Free Download Phil William Zarns, "The Spirit and the Secular: A Study on the Holy Spirit and Church Planting"
English | ISBN: 1725269147 | 2021 | 192 pages | EPUB | 4 MB
How does one make disciples and plant the church in a secular environment? Does it take technical production? Is a great venue or "mother" church necessary? Does it take a well-networked team? Tangible factors such as these are easily remedied by consulting seasoned, church planting experts. Yet, what if some obstacles to plant the church aren't tangible at all? The Spirit and the Secular examines the ways that Spirit-led Christians trust the Holy Spirit while church planting amidst a secular cultural backdrop. A review of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles traces a Spirit-led Christ and Spirit-led church as they make disciples. To better discern the challenge of what it means to be a contemporary church planter in Sweden, a historical review of Swedish culture reveals the rise of secularism alongside of the flourish of the Pentecostal church of the 1900s. What follows is a groundbreaking fieldwork study using a current, investigative interview method, Q-Methodology, measuring the perceptions of thirty church planters in Sweden who reveal their collective ideal and differing practices. The study wraps with a comprehensive analysis grounding the research in a theory of Spirit-led church planting.

The Spirit and the Lake of Fire Pneumatology and Judgment
Free Download Rustin Umstattd, "The Spirit and the Lake of Fire: Pneumatology and Judgment"
English | ISBN: 1532615426 | 2017 | 192 pages | EPUB | 881 KB
The Holy Spirit and the Lake of Fire! What does the Spirit have to do with God's final judgment? The Holy Spirit and God's judgment upon sin are not two topics that are often connected, but to understand the full work of the Spirit, they need to be. It is not enough to view judgment as the work of just the Father and the Son, but in full Trinitarian fashion, it must be understood as the work of all three persons of the Trinity. In The Spirit and the Lake of Fire Rustin Umstattd establishes the Spirit's role in judgment by connecting several symbols that are used for both the Spirit and judgment, such as fire, God's breath, and God's arm. Furthermore, by examining Augustine's position that the Spirit is the mutual-love of the Father and the Son, and Luther's position that God's wrath is the underside of his love, Umstattd demonstrates how one comes to the conclusion that the Spirit is operative in God's judgment upon sin.

The Spirit Said Go Lessons in Guidance from Paul s Journeys
Free Download Mark W. Wilson, "The Spirit Said Go: Lessons in Guidance from Paul s Journeys"
English | ISBN: 1532630158 | 2017 | 166 pages | EPUB | 8 MB
""God's got a plan for your life"" is an aphorism frequently heard by Christians. But how do you discover that plan? The Spirit Said Go is designed to help believers find God's will. Using Paul's journeys in Acts as examples, Wilson discusses twenty lessons on guidance drawn from these journeys. Using his firsthand experience traveling along these routes in the Eastern Mediterranean, he reads between the lines offering additional insights into Luke's account. He also provides important geographical and archaeological information to illustrate Paul's world among the Jews, Greeks, and Romans. Wilson then illustrates each lesson with autobiographical vignettes drawn from his own spiritual pilgrimage of over forty years as a follower of Jesus. Friends and colleagues also share stories of similar experiences of guidance. Each chapter ends with reflection questions that help the reader integrate the lesson into Christian living. The volume offers an inductive Bible study combined with practical, spiritual insights regarding how God guides his people then and now. ""Mark Wilson combines superb biblical and historical scholarship with intense personal warmth in this highly insightful book on God's guidance. It not only teaches us about the numerous and (often) surprising ways God guides us as believers, but inspires us towant to be guided by Christ. And all through a fascinating study of Paul's experience of guidance in Acts. One of the best books I've read on this subject!"" -M. Blaine Smith, author of Knowing God's Will: Finding Guidance for Personal Decisions ""Mark Wilson brings fascinating insights into the journeys of the Apostle Paul. Purchasing the book for just those would be worth it. But, he combines those insights with interesting and challenging views on how Paul heard from God illustrating each chapter with stories of how others have heard from God in a similar way. This book will encourage you, challenge you, and ask you to stop and listen to how God may be speaking to you."" -Jackson Crum, Lead Pastor, Park Community Church ""As a pastor of a local church I'm confronted regularly with urgent questions about the Christian life, but none more frequently than that of spiritual guidance: 'How can I know the will of God?' 'In what ways might I confidently expect God to guide me?' 'I don't want to miss God's perfect will for my life, so what should I do?' These are difficult but extremely important questions that all Christians face. Mark Wilson's The Spirit Said Go is a welcome contribution to the many books that attempt to provide biblical answers. It is rigorously biblical, pastorally sensitive, and eminently wise in the counsel given. Not everyone will agree with his perspective, but we should all give it close consideration."" -Sam Storms, Lead Pastor for Preaching and Vision, Bridgeway Church Mark Wilson is the founder and director of the Asia Minor Research Center in Antalya, Turkey. He currently has academic appointments at Stellenbosch University, the University of South Africa, Ridley College, and Regent University. He is the author of Biblical Turkey (2010) and Victory through the Lamb (2014).

The Special Operations Executive (SOE) in Burma Jungle Warfare and Intelligence Gathering in WW2
Free Download Richard Duckett, "The Special Operations Executive (SOE) in Burma: Jungle Warfare and Intelligence Gathering in WW2 "
English | ISBN: 1788319885 | 2019 | 256 pages | PDF | 5 MB
In the mountains and jungles of occupied Burma during World War II, British special forces launched a series of secret operations, assisted by parts of the Burmese population. The men of the SOE, trained in sabotage and guerrilla warfare, worked in the jungle, deep behind enemy lines, to frustrate the puppet Burmese government of Ba Maw and continue the fight against Hirohito's Japan in a theatre starved of resources. Here, Richard Duckett uses newly declassified documents from the National Archives to reveal for the first time the extent of British special forces' involvement - from the 1941 operations until beyond Burma's independence from the British Empire in 1948. Duckett argues convincingly that `Operation Character' and `Operation Billet' - large SOE missions launched in support of General Slim's XIV Army offensive to liberate Burma - rank among the most militarily significant of the SOE's secret missions. Featuring a wealth of photographs and accompanying material never before published, including direct testimony recorded by veterans of the campaign and maps from the SOE files, The SOE in Burma tells a compelling story of courage and struggle in during World War II

The Socialist Way Social Democracy in Contemporary Britain
Free Download Roy Hattersley, "The Socialist Way: Social Democracy in Contemporary Britain"
English | ISBN: 1780765800 | 2013 | 240 pages | PDF | 12 MB
In 2010, the Labour Party of Great Britain suffered its worst General Election defeat since the 1930s (with one exception), bringing to an end thirteen years of New Labour government. Since then, the debate over both the legacy of New Labour and the future direction of the party has been widespread, yet so far there has been little consideration from a social democratic perspective. The chapters in this book cover a wide range of issues and provide new perspectives in the areas of economic, social and foreign policy with a central focus on the defence of the state. The chapters on the economy put forward a strategy for economic growth through industrial democracy and collective ownership, whilst in terms of social policy a more radical agenda than New Labour's is advocated, underpinned by stronger notions of social justice, equality and welfare rights. In the context of growing nationalist sentiments and calls for Scottish independence, this book sets out the importance of central state activity, the promotion of a public service ethos and civil liberties and a social democratic approach to the increasingly important issue of national identity.

The Six-Day War The Breaking of the Middle East
Free Download Guy Laron, "The Six-Day War: The Breaking of the Middle East"
English | ISBN: 1538400901 | 2017 | pages | AZW | 2 MB
One fateful week in June 1967 redrew the map of the Middle East. Many scholars have documented how the Six Day War unfolded, but little has been done to explain why the conflict happened at all. As we approach its fiftieth anniversary, Guy Laron refutes the widely accepted belief that the war was merely the result of regional friction, revealing the crucial roles played by American and Soviet policies in the face of an encroaching global economic crisis, and restoring Syria's often overlooked centrality to events leading up to the hostilities. The Six Day War effectively sowed the seeds for the downfall of Arab nationalism, the growth of Islamic extremism, and the animosity between Jews and Palestinians. In this important new work, Laron's fresh interdisciplinary perspective and extensive archival research offer a significant reassessment of a conflict-and the trigger-happy generals behind it-that continues to shape the modern world.

The principle of legal certainty is of fundamental importance for law and society: it has been vital in stabilising normative expectations and in providing a framework for social interaction, as well as defining the scope of individual freedom and political power. Even though it has not always been fully realised, legal certainty has also functioned as a normative ideal that has structured legal debates, both at the national and transnational level.
