![]() Free Download Mark L Lawall, "Pottery in the Archaeological Record: Greece and Beyond " English | ISBN: 8779345875 | 2011 | 168 pages | PDF | 6 MB Archaeologist are increasingly focusing on the transformation of artifacts from their use in the past to their appearance in the archaeological record, trying to identiy the natural and cultural processes that created the archaeological record we study today. In Classical Archaeology, attention to these processes received an impetus by J. Theodore Pena's 2007 monograph, Roman Pottery in the Archaeological Record, which considered how ceramic vessels were made, used and stayed in use serving various secondary purposes, before finally being discarded. Pena relied mainly on evidence from Roman Italy, which raises the question of the impact of similar cultural forces on pottery from other periods and places. His work accentuates the need to continue the process of building and developing explicit interpretive models of ceramic life-histories in Mediterranean archeology. With a view to beginning to address these challenges, the editors invited a group of specialists in the pottery of Greece and the rest of the Eastern Mediterranean to a colloquium in Athens in June 2008, asking the contributors to recondiser Pena's general models, approaches and examples from their own particular geographic and cultural perspectives. This publication constitutes the proceedings of this colloquium. ![]() Free Download Lesley Gourlay, "Posthumanism and the Digital University: Texts, Bodies and Materialities" English | ISBN: 1350038172 | 2020 | 200 pages | PDF | 2 MB It is a commonplace in educational policy and theory to claim that digital technology has 'transformed' the university, the nature of learning and even the essence of what it means to be a scholar or a student. Invaluable genetic resources of this biogeographic dominion must deserve attention of conservationists, as well as of breeders. This project is aimed at producing a book on population genetics directed to an audience of undergraduate and graduate students but not limited to those. In a distinct approach, we seek to develop a material devoted to population genetics in the Neotropics, contextualizing examples of several animal and plant species belonging to this highly diverse dominion. Traditional books available in the subject of population genetics commonly deal with organisms that are native to North America and Europe, while neotropical organisms are lacking in the context, so our book comes forth as an initiative towards covering that. ![]() Free Download Polypharmacy and Geriatrics English | 2025 | ISBN: 3031773136 | 493 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 7 MB This book aims to collate contemporary, evidence-based literature regarding the safe and quality use of medicines in older people. Kemal Ataturk's task of building a nation 'from the people up' meant that the peasantry, by far Turkey's largest ethnographic group, became an important symbol of social cohesion. Here, Sinan Yildirmaz analyses the history of modern Turkey through the material culture of this peasantry - their speeches, social club documents, art and diaries - and reveals a rich social and political life which flowered after the Second World War. Politics and the Peasantry in Post-War Turkey is the first history to show how the changing peasantry laid the foundations for the modern Turkish state, and will be essential reading for students and scholars of the Ottoman Empire and of the History of Modern Turkey. |
