![]() Free Download Militancy and the Arc of Instability : Violent Extremism in the Sahel By Jennifer G. Cooke; Thomas M. Sanderson 2016 | 37 Pages | ISBN: 1442279680 | EPUB | 1 MB An arc of instability stretching across Africa's Sahel region, an area of strategic interest for the United States and its allies, is plagued by violent extremist organizations (VEOs). These organizations, including Boko Haram, al Qaeda, and other terror groups, have metastasized and present a serious threat to regional stability. Now these VEOs are transitioning. Under sustained pressure from French and regional security forces, and reeling from the loss of senior leaders, many of these groups feel backed into a corner. Despite setbacks, these groups continue to plague the region. To enhance policymakers' understanding of these threats and how to respond to them, CSIS experts from the Africa Program and Transnational Threats Project conducted field-based and scholarly research examining the broad range of factors at play in the region. This research provides little ground for optimism. Chronic underdevelopment, political alienation, failed governance and corruption, organized crime, and spillover from Libya help foster and sustain violent extremists throughout the Sahel. ![]() Free Download Microsoft Copilot For Dummies by Chris Minnick English | February 11, 2025 | ISBN: 1394314949 | 320 pages | MOBI | 10 Mb Straightforward guidance on the AI tool that's built into Windows, Microsoft 365, and more ![]() Free Download Microsoft 365 Word For Dummies by Dan Gookin English | February 11, 2025 | ISBN: 1394295448 | 400 pages | MOBI | 4.67 Mb Take a deep dive into the most popular word processor on the planet ![]() Free Download Microsoft 365 PowerPoint For Dummies by Doug Lowe English | February 11, 2025 | ISBN: 1394292368 | 400 pages | MOBI | 8.88 Mb Present like a pro, with the top-selling PowerPoint book on the market ![]() Free Download Microsoft 365 Excel VBA Programming For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech)) by Dick Kusleika English | February 11, 2025 | ISBN: 1394292392 | 448 pages | MOBI | 5.82 Mb Your step-by-step guide to doing more with Microsoft Excel ![]() Free Download Micronutrients Deficiency in Soils and Plants by Theocharis Chatzistathis English | February 12, 2018 | ISBN: 1608059359 | 213 pages | PDF | 3.71 Mb Micronutrient Deficiency in Soils and Plants highlights the problems caused by micronutrient deficiencies in vegetative production. Retaining their autonomy and freedom, creative individuals selectively adopted or rejected modern gadgets, tools, and machines. In standard historical narratives, globalization is portrayed as an unstoppable force that flattens all obstacles in its path. Modern technology is also seen as inexorable: in the nineteenth century, steamships, telegraph lines, and Gatling guns are said to have paved the way for colonialism and other forms of dominating people and societies. Later, shipping containers and computer networks purportedly pulled the planet deeper into a maelstrom of capitalism. Hård discusses instances that push back against these narratives. For example, in Soviet times, inhabitants of Samarkand, Uzbekistan, preferred to remain in-and expand-their own mud-brick houses rather than move into prefabricated, concrete residential buildings. Similarly, nineteenth-century Sumatran carpenters ignored the saws brought to them by missionaries-and chose to chop down trees with their arch-bladed adzes. And people in colonial India successfully competed with capitalist-run Caribbean sugar plantations, continuing to produce their own muscovado and sell it to local consumers. This book invites readers to view the history of technology and material culture through the lens of diversity. Based on research funded by the European Research Council and conducted in the Global South, Microhistories of Technology: Making the World shows that the spread of modern technologies did not erase artisanal production methods and traditional tools. ![]() Free Download Microeconomics: The Basics by Thomas R.
