Reinventing Liberal Christianity
Free Download Reinventing Liberal Christianity By Theo Hobson
2013 | 240 Pages | ISBN: 0802868401 | EPUB | 1 MB
In this provocative book Theo Hobson addresses the current crisis of liberal Christianity. In past years liberal Christianity challenged centuries of authoritarian tradition and had great political influence. It played a major role in the founding of the United States and gave rise to the secular liberalism that we take for granted. But liberal Christianity today is widely dismissed as a watering-down of the faith, and more conservative forms of Christianity are increasingly dominant. Can the liberal Christian tradition recover its influence? Hobson puts forth a bold theory about why liberal Christianity collapsed and how it can be reinvented. He argues that a simple revival is not possible, because liberal Christianity consists of two traditions -- a good tradition that must be salvaged and a bad tradition that must be repudiated. Reinventing Liberal Christianity untangles these two traditions with a fascinating survey of Christian thought from the Reformation to the present and, further, aims to transform liberal Christianity through the rediscovery of faith and ritual.

Reinterpreting the Borderline Heidegger and the Psychoanalytic Understanding of Borderline Personality Disorder
Free Download Reinterpreting the Borderline : Heidegger and the Psychoanalytic Understanding of Borderline Personality Disorder By Paul Cammell
2016 | 287 Pages | ISBN: 1442252847 | EPUB | 1 MB
Reinterpreting the Borderline is a timely and comprehensive analysis of Heidegger's philosophy and its relevance to the clinical fields of psychiatry, psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis. Cammell presents the key elements of Heidegger's philosophy and further explores affiliations with other key philosophers influenced by Heidegger. By applying these philosophical ideas to developmental models and clinical treatments of borderline personality disorder, Cammell develops a system of ideas he terms "hermeneutic ontology," exploring the fundamentally relational, embodied, affective, temporal, and technical aspects of existence that become problematized in the experience of "the borderline"--both for the suffering individual and the concerned clinician. Cammell posits that "borderline experience" extends beyond the suffering individual to the context of the psychotherapy itself, something in which the therapist and suffering individual must collaborate to overcome. Reinterpreting the Borderline provides a rich and complex study toward simultaneously overcoming the divide between theory and practice, philosophy and psychotherapy, and finally the borderline between suffering individuals and their concerned clinicians.

Reforming Collateral Laws to Expand Access to Finance
Free Download Reforming Collateral Laws to Expand Access to Finance By Heywood Fleisig; Mehnaz Safavian; Nuria de la Pena; Nuria De La Pena
2006 | 120 Pages | ISBN: 0821364901 | PDF | 1 MB
Most readers, especially those with car loans or home mortgages, know about "collateral"--property that the lender can take away from the borrower in the event that the borrower defaults. In low/middle income countries, it is understood that conservative lenders exclude firms from credit markets with their excessive collateral requirements. Usually, this is because only some property is acceptable as collateral: large holdings of urban real estate and, sometimes, new motor vehicles. Microenterprises, SMEs, and the poor have little of this property but they do have an array of productive assets that could easily be harnessed to serve as collateral. It is only the legal framework which prevents firms from using these assets to secure loans. In countries with reformed laws governing collateral, property such as equipment, inventory, accounts receivable, livestock are considered excellent collateral. This book aims to better equip project managers to implement reforms to the legal and institutional framework for collateral (secured transactions). It discusses the importance of movable property as a source of collateral for firms, the relationship between the legal framework governing movable assets and the financial sector consequences for firms (better loan terms, increased access, more competitive financial sector), and how reforms can be put in place to change the lending environment.

Reflections on Gender from a Communication Point-of-View GenderSpectives
Free Download Reflections on Gender from a Communication Point-of-View : GenderSpectives By Laura Finley; Nickesia Gordon
2017 | 254 Pages | ISBN: 144381699X | PDF | 1 MB
This volume documents the experiences of, and reflections on, gender from undergraduate students in the field of Communication. It is the product of conversations, queries and discoveries that emerged from a spirited Communication and Gender course offered by the Department of Communication at Barry University, USA. The essays collected here offer an introspective from the students' point of view as they grapple with gender issues as they intersect with their identities, sexualities, race and ethnicity, and nationalities, as well as socio-economic backgrounds in their everyday communicative experiences. On a subject as personal as gender, multiple perspectives exist, many of which do not necessarily fit traditional ideas about how to enact gender. The students' reflections explore a diversity of standpoints on gender as they internalize ideas about selfhood and scrutinize their own understandings of gender as it is constructed, performed, evaluated, and negotiated through communication.

Reexamining Reentry The Policies, People, and Programs of the United States Prisoner Reintegration Systems
Free Download Reexamining Reentry : The Policies, People, and Programs of the United States Prisoner Reintegration Systems By Rolanda J. West; Kaia Niambi Shivers; Imani West-Abdallah
2016 | 185 Pages | ISBN: 0739192027 | EPUB | 1 MB
Reexamining Reentry takes an in-depth look at how and why prisoner reentry programs are developed. Furthermore, this book explains how having access to these programs, or not, could potentially stymie the community reintegration of the formerly incarcerated. All too often we see the pervasive criminalization of the formerly incarcerated even after serving their sentences and being released into the general public. What makes this text different from many others that focus on prisoner reentry is the focus on empowerment strategies for the participant of the program rather than the deficits experienced by prison populations while attempting to transition. This book will show how the policies, social labeling and discrimination, trauma experienced prior to and during incarceration, as well as media interpretation of the population prior to incarceration all work together to further criminalize populations that have paid their respective debts to society.

Reengaging the Prospects of Rhetoric Current Conversations and Contemporary Challenges
Free Download Reengaging the Prospects of Rhetoric : Current Conversations and Contemporary Challenges By Mark J. Porrovecchio
2010 | 224 Pages | ISBN: 0415873088 | EPUB | 1 MB
Reengaging the Prospects of Rhetoric reanimates the debate over the function and scope of rhetoric. Providing a contemporary response to the volume The Prospect of Rhetoric (1971), this volume reconceptualizes that classic work to address the challenges facing the study of rhetoric today. With contributions from today's leading rhetorical scholars, Reengaging tje Prospects of Rhetoric offers "response" essays to each chapter of the original work. Each scholar uses his/her essay as a forum in which to address three questions: As a historical document, why is this essay important? In terms of contemporary theory and/or practice, what is the significance of the essay? How can the issues raised therein be profitably addressed in the future? These provocative engagements suggest that, while the study of rhetoric has gained much ground in the intervening decades, there is more work to be done to reestablish the primacy of rhetoric in contemporary society. This volume provides students and scholars of rhetoric with a strong foundation in the issues that have shaped contemporary rhetorical theory and criticism. It offers them an accessible introduction to the challenges facing future iterations of rhetorical theory and criticism. As a standalone text or a supplemental resource for undergraduate and graduate courses in the history, theory, and criticism of rhetoric or contemporary rhetorical theory, it will help to shape rhetoric's future role in communication studies and will foster interdisciplinary dialogues about the topic.
