Traveling with Matthew How Does a Gospel Mean
Free Download James W Hulsey, "Traveling with Matthew: How Does a Gospel Mean?"
English | ISBN: 1666700703 | 2021 | 184 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
The purpose of Traveling with Matthew is to revisit the power of a great story to shape our lives, both in church and society. Unstoried, we lose our way home. In a sermonesque style of engaging with our deep concerns and more common questions, the author seeks to draw us closer to Matthew. We may hear Jesus forwarding the story of Israel as a light to the world. We may see Jesus walking among the least of these with a passion for healing and justice. We may follow as Jesus takes upon himself the crosses borne by the world and in anguish gathers our cries to God. Only then do we walk with the women on those "two legs of fear and great joy" and live by their message "as apostles to the apostles" (John Donne). Perhaps Matthew may rise on our favorites list of Gospels. Its demands are challenging but not legalistic. Its message is centered in Jesus Christ and related to Israel. Written in a first-century context of conflict and chaos, Jesus in Matthew delivers an urgent call for our lives to matter as blessed by God. With hope to endure, Matthew offers the presence of God for the harassed and helpless of earth. With power as Scripture, "God with Us, Emmanuel" continues to encounter the poor in spirit and creates a worldwide community of healing and hope, light, and joy. Deserving of a fresh hearing, Matthew is truly good news, though not always easy news, for our day.

Transitioning from an Ethnic to a Multicultural Church A Transformational Model
Free Download Byoung Ok Koo, "Transitioning from an Ethnic to a Multicultural Church: A Transformational Model"
English | ISBN: 153268083X | 2019 | 224 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
Multicultural churches help us understand God's will for us to become one in this multicultural world and experience a heavenly gathering in advance. This book, based on case studies of four multicultural churches, provides insights and knowledge regarding minority-dominant multicultural churches in the United States. Many multicultural churches in America are mainly concerned about racial reconciliation between the white and the black. On the other hand, resources concerning minority-dominant multicultural churches are scant. With the special attention on Korean immigrant churches, this book contributes to the body of knowledge regarding minority-dominant multicultural churches. Specifically, this book provides a model transition process, called the Windmill T-process, to facilitate the movement of monocultural/monoethnic churches in taking steps towards acquiring the characteristics of multicultural churches. In addition, this book touches on the issue of evangelism in the multicultural church. Although there is limited insight, the book describes what factors first draw different racial/ethnic people to a church and what factors cause them to stay there. All in all, this book will guide you to a deeper understanding on multicultural churches and its practices for all nations beyond ethnic/racial identities.

Transforming Tajikistan State-building and Islam in Post-Soviet Central Asia
Free Download Hélène Thibault, "Transforming Tajikistan: State-building and Islam in Post-Soviet Central Asia "
English | ISBN: 178453921X | 2018 | 288 pages | PDF | 3 MB
Tajikistan is a key state in Central Asia, and will become crucial to the regional power balance as it transitions away from Soviet government systems and responds to the rise of Chinese financial power alongside the continuing presence of Russian military might and instability in neighboring Afghanistan. This book demonstrates how the Soviet atheist legacy continues to influence current state structures, the regulation of religion, the formation of national identities, and the understanding of the place of religion in society. Helene Thibault focuses on the differences between secular nationhood in Tajikistan, and an increasingly popular and influential Muslim identity. Featuring extensive and original primary-source material, including 12 months of ethnographic fieldwork, Thibault demonstrates the profound and lasting influence of Soviet power structures and attitudes, and how secular and religious identities clash in a context of tightening authoritarianism.

Transformed into the Same Image Constructive Investigations into the Doctrine of Deification
Free Download Paul Copan, "Transformed into the Same Image: Constructive Investigations into the Doctrine of Deification"
English | ISBN: 1514009846 | 2024 | 368 pages | PDF | 66 MB
The doctrine of deification or theosis has been gaining interest among scholars for some time. Yet most publications on the topic have focused on Orthodox and Roman Catholic traditions and have subsumed the discussion under the category of soteriology. If "being transformed into the same image" (2 Corinthians 3:18) is truly essential to the Christian life, a fuller understanding of this biblical concept is needed for Christians of all traditions.

Transformative Worship Changing Lives Through Religious Experience
Free Download Laurene Beth Bowers, "Transformative Worship: Changing Lives Through Religious Experience"
English | ISBN: 1532606087 | 2017 | 162 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
When people felt obligated to attend worship, as in 1955, it didn't matter whether or not their religious needs were being met. But since our culture has shifted to giving people a choice, they are seeking something meaningful during worship; something which helps them to change their lives. In the church, we talk a lot about "changing people's lives" but we do not articulate what it is that the church has to offer to those seeking to do so. The author explores what happens during worship to provide a transformative experience and identifies which forms of worship are most conducive to this process. The focus here is on small groups, bible study, and forms of interaction between and among leaders and worshippers. For pastors and leaders discerning what forms of worship to experiment with in order to connect with seekers in their community and bring visitors back a second Sunday, this book offers easy to implement, practical ideas for church growth.

Transformation in Christ Paul's Experience of the Divine Mystery
Free Download David A Ackerman, "Transformation in Christ: Paul's Experience of the Divine Mystery"
English | ISBN: 1532671156 | 2019 | 222 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
Although Paul used language similar to the religions and cultures of his time, he had a unique understanding of the "mystery" of God. The once-hidden plan of God was revealed and fulfilled in the person of Jesus of Nazareth. Saul of Tarsus experienced a fundamental change when he encountered the risen Jesus on the road to Damascus. This vision gave him new direction and purpose and profoundly changed his understanding of God's plan for humanity. Paul often uses the phrase "in Christ" or its variations to describe this plan. Being in Christ results in transformation into Christ's likeness of holiness and love through the indwelling Holy Spirit. Those in Christ form a new community that crosses ethnic barriers, is bound together in fellowship with the Triune God, and fulfills its purpose of holiness before him. Paul's answer to the struggles people face is simple: when one is united with Christ by dying to the old self and committing to his supremacy, one will find victory over any force opposed to us in this world. This book explores one of the most profound claims in the New Testament that demands a response of its readers.

Transformation by the Spirit and the Word A Literary Exploration of Acts
Free Download Will Loescher, "Transformation by the Spirit and the Word: A Literary Exploration of Acts"
English | ISBN: 1666753505 | 2023 | 214 pages | EPUB | 3 MB
This book is a distillation of reading Acts for over fifty years, preaching it for twenty-five years, and studying it in-depth for five years. My aim is for students, church leaders, preachers, and missionaries to join me on a journey of narrative theology-a literary exploration of transformation by the Spirit and the Word in Acts. As with every part of God's inspired Scriptures, there is always more to discover and apply. As a Reformed Charismatic I believe that Acts is our story. However, rather than just attempting to copy it, I suggest that the book's unexpected literary shape reveals a challenging missional significance. The need for world gospel mission continues today. However, like the early church, we often contain the Holy Spirit within our own structures and are reluctant to move out of our comfort zones. Acts shows the church's priority is to be God's mission instrument in the world. Let's study, lead, preach, and go from Acts so that we realize Jesus's promise "that you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and to the end(s) of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

Transfiguration and Hope A Conversation across Time and Space
Free Download D. Gregory Van Dussen, "Transfiguration and Hope: A Conversation across Time and Space"
English | ISBN: 1532654537 | 2018 | 160 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
To read and visualize the transfiguration of Christ is to enter its mystery and encounter its hope. Like the Gospel writers and the disciples who climbed the mountain with Jesus, we struggle to tell the story and explain its meaning. Yet this astounding event reveals God's ultimate purpose in sending his Son-the complete restoration of humanity and all creation-our transfiguration in Christ. The light and glory of that moment reveal a destiny that is infinite and eternal, made possible by the power of grace. Transfiguration is the trajectory and goal of our spiritual journey.
