A History of Events Which Led to the Abdication of Napoleon" English | 2013 | ISBN: 1845748255 | EPUB | pages: 426 | 0.9 mb This is a rare document of unusual historical interest. It is an account of the events leading up to Napoleon's first abdication at the Palace of Fontainebleau near Paris in 1814. The account was written at the fallen Emperor's express command by Baron Fain, his Cabinet secretary. The book contains a facsimile of Napoleon's own handwriting in his (unreadable) instrument of abdication. The first part of the book chronicles Napoleon's movements and manoeuvres between November 1813 and January 1814 as he strove to avoid abdicating and drive wedges between the countries of the coalition which had overwhelmed him - Britain, Prussia, Russia, Austria and Sweden. The second, larger, portion of the narrative contains a journal of Napoleon's only campaign fought on French soil - the 1814 'campaign of France' - rated by many as his most brilliant when sometimes fighting an engagement every two days, he desperately fought off the advancing Prussians under Marshal Blucher for two months. Finally, the third part of the book, describes the scene of the abdication at Fontainebleau, and an appendix lists the terms of Napoleon's surrender, which saw him exiled to a 'mini-kingdom' on the island of Elba - an exile which would detain him for just eleven months until his final hurrah in the 100 days ending at Waterloo. ![]() Free Download The Manhattan Project Encyclopedia: A Concise Guide to the People, Places, Concepts, Devices and Events of the Development of the Atomic Bomb English | 2025 | ISBN: 3031743245 | 261 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 48 MB ![]() Free Download Will Thomas, "The Managing Workload Pocketbook" English | ISBN: 1903776635 | 2005 | 128 pages | PDF | 5 MB The extensively illustrated pocketbook is aimed at primary and secondary teachers in the UK but will be relevant to those working overseas. A woman, bitter about her marriage to a man turned blind, must decide if he lives or dies. A man haunted by his role in creating the H-bomb suddenly disappears in old age, only to turn up at Alamagordo, seeking an Indian and redemption. Such characters, at the crossroads of emotion and ethics, confounding loss and resurrection, populate this unforgettable collection of tales. Loosely connected, the stories chronicle the lives of the Matters, a captivating, tragic, yet ultimately exultant Arab American family. Spanning continents and a century, the stories center on the balm that human relationships offer. In "The Chandelier," a boy desperate to feed his starving family hauls a stolen chandelier over a snowy mountain in Lebanon during World War I. A young Mexican nurse and her lover wind their way through eighteenth-century California missions in "Fabiola." Against the backdrop of the September 11 attacks, an Arab American man is thrown from a bus, echoing past racial discriminations, in "Get Off the Bus." With a poet's ear and a historian's keen eye for detail, Orfalea offers readers beautifully crafted stories filled with flawed yet irresistible characters who are rendered with great tenderness and aching complexity. ![]() Free Download The Making of the Middle Sea: A History of the Mediterranean from the Beginning to the Emergence of the Classical World by Cyprian Broodbank English | November 12, 2024 | ISBN: 0500026440, 9780500780190 | True EPUB | 688 pages | 127 MB An award-winning history of the Mediterranean from prehistory to the Classical world reissued with an extended new preface by the author. ![]() Free Download The Making of a University: The Path to Higher Education in Huddersfield, 2025 Edition John O'Connell English | 2025 | ISBN: 9781862182424 | 157 Pages | PDF | 1.4 MB ![]() Free Download The Magellan Fallacy : Globalization and the Emergence of Asian and African Literature in Spanish By Adam Lifshey 2012 | 335 Pages | ISBN: 0472118471 | EPUB | 1 MB Winner of the 2015 A-Asia/ICAS Africa-Asia Book Prize, a global competition, for the best book in English, French, or Portuguese on any topic linking Asia and Africa. The Magellan Fallacy argues that literature in Spanish from Asia and Africa, though virtually unknown, reimagines the supposed centers and peripheries of the modern world in fundamental ways. Through archival research and comparative readings, The Magellan Fallacy rethinks mainstream mappings of diverse cultures while advocating the creation of a new field of scholarship: global literature in Spanish. As the first attempt to analyze Asian and African literature in Spanish together, and doing so while ranging over all continents, The Magellan Fallacy crosses geopolitical and cultural borders without end. The implications of the book, therefore, extend far beyond the lands formerly ruled by the Spanish empire. The Magellan Fallacy shows that all theories of globalization, including those focused on the Americas and Europe, must be able to account for the varied significances of hispanophone Asia and Africa as well. ![]() Free Download The Lost Voice: A Memoir by Greta Morgan English | May 20, 2025 | ISBN: 0063411962 | True EPUB | 304 pages | 2.8 MB A poignant, tenacious memoir by musician Greta Morgan chronicling how she rediscovered her artistic voice after losing her ability to sing. ![]() Free Download The London Connection: Unveiling the Banking Influence Behind the Federal Reserve : Revisiting E.
