Free Download Peter Damian Fehlner, "Studies Systematic and Critical: The Collected Essays of Peter Damian Fehlner, OFM Conv: Volume 8"
English | ISBN: 1532663986 | 2023 | 726 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
This eighth and final volume of the Collected Essays of Peter Damian Fehlner entitled, in the spirit of Fehlner's hero John Henry Newman, Studies Systematic and Critical, includes published and previously unpublished studies, spanning a wide range of years and topics. In his critical studies, Fehlner with his Scotistic subtlety wrestles with Karl Rahner over Trinitarian theology and the Kantian inflections within transcendental Thomism. Fehlner unmasks Hegelian undercurrents of Neopatripassianism. And he unravels sophistries in situational and sentimental ethics. Fehlner's systematic essays unpack Scotus's teaching on the person, grace, and justification. Seeing created personal perfection in the Immaculate Mother of God, Fehlner explores how Mary can be exemplar, mother, and teacher of Christians precisely as the most perfectly redeemed beneficiary of her Son's redemptive and salvific work. In a monumental and original study, Fehlner demonstrates the deep contours of thought between the two greatest Oxford theologians: John Duns Scotus and John Henry Newman. The essays in this volume give clear witness to the range and depth of Fehlner's theological and philosophical contributions as a critic and, more importantly, as the greatest Franciscan voice in constructive theology since the seventeenth-century "Golden Age" of Scotism.

Free Download Hagit Borer, "Structuring Sense: Volume I: In Name Only"
English | 2005 | pages: 327 | ISBN: 0199263892 | PDF | 16,3 mb
Structuring Sense explores the difference between words however defined and structures however constructed. It sets out to demonstrate over three volumes, of which this is the first, that the explanation of linguistic competence should be shifted from lexical entry to syntactic structure, from memory of words to manipulation of rules. Its reformulation of how grammar and lexicon interact has profound implications for linguistic, philosophical, and psychological theories about human mind and language.

Free Download Strengthening a Workforce for Innovative Regulatory Science in Therapeutics Development : Workshop Summary By Institute of Medicine; Board on Health Sciences Policy; and Translation Development Forum on Drug Discovery; Anne B. Claiborne; Steve Olson
2012 | 118 Pages | ISBN: 0309222141 | EPUB | 1 MB
The development and application of regulatory science - which FDA has defined as the science of developing new tools, standards, and approaches to assess the safety, efficacy, quality, and performance of FDA-regulated products - calls for a well-trained, scientifically engaged, and motivated workforce. FDA faces challenges in retaining regulatory scientists and providing them with opportunities for professional development. In the private sector, advancement of innovative regulatory science in drug development has not always been clearly defined, well coordinated, or connected to the needs of the agency. As a follow-up to a 2010 workshop, the IOM held a workshop on September 20-21, 2011, to provide a format for establishing a specific agenda to implement the vision and principles relating to a regulatory science workforce and disciplinary infrastructure as discussed in the 2010 workshop.

Free Download Strengthening Peer Review in Federal Agencies That Support Education Research By National Research Council; Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education; Center for Education; Committee on Research in Education; Lauress L. Wise; Jack M. Fletcher; Lisa Towne; Lauress L. Wise
2004 | 106 Pages | ISBN: 0309090997 | PDF | 1 MB
Peer review is a method used to inform decision-making by engaging experts in a critical evaluation of the merits of a product or proposal. It is most commonly known as a mechanism for judging the quality of proposals for research funding, or manuscripts submitted for publication in academic journals. It is at once a tool with which scientific judgment is formalized and decisions about the allocation of scarce public resources are legitimized. Strengthening Peer Review in Federal Agencies That Support Education Research seeks to advance an improved understanding of a scientific approach to addressing education problems and to engage the field of education research in action-oriented dialogue about how to further the accumulation of scientific knowledge. The focus of this report is on peer review as it is applied to the evaluation of proposals for federal funding of education research projects.

Free Download Strengthening High School Chemistry Education Through Teacher Outreach Programs : A Workshop Summary to the Chemical Sciences Roundtable By National Research Council; Division on Earth and Life Studies; Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology; Chemical Sciences Roundtable; Steve Olson
2009 | 70 Pages | ISBN: 0309128609 | PDF | 1 MB
A strong chemical workforce in the United States will be essential to the ability to address many issues of societal concern in the future, including demand for renewable energy, more advanced materials, and more sophisticated pharmaceuticals. High school chemistry teachers have a critical role to play in engaging and supporting the chemical workforce of the future, but they must be sufficiently knowledgeable and skilled to produce the levels of scientific literacy that students need to succeed. To identify key leverage points for improving high school chemistry education, the National Academies' Chemical Sciences Roundtable held a public workshop, summarized in this volume, that brought together representatives from government, industry, academia, scientific societies, and foundations involved in outreach programs for high school chemistry teachers. Presentations at the workshop, which was held in August 2008, addressed the current status of high school chemistry education; provided examples of public and private outreach programs for high school chemistry teachers; and explored ways to evaluate the success of these outreach programs.

Free Download Strengthening Community : Social Insurance in a Diverse America By Kathleen Buto; Martha Priddy Patterson; William E. Spriggs; Maya Rockeymoore
2004 | 295 Pages | ISBN: 0815712812 | PDF | 1 MB
This new volume from the National Academy of Social Insurance raises a provocative question that goes to the heart of discussion about social insurance and diversity --to what extent must social insurance programs address historical, social, and economic inequities? The contributors explore issues of equity and diversity in social insurance programs in America today. Some argue that differences in the treatment of racial and ethnic minorities have contributed to contemporary "gaps" that span an array of socioeconomic indicators, including education, wealth, life expectancy, and health status. These indicators are central to the administration of social insurance programs because they help determine not only the type and amount of benefits distributed but also whether benefits are received at all. Contributors include Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.), Kathleen Buto (Johnson & Johnson), Adam Carasso (Urban Institute), Donna Chiffriller (Verizon), Lee Cohen (Social Security Administration), Cecilia Conrad (Pomona College), Paul Eggers (National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disorders), James Randolph Farris (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services), Linda Fishman (Senate Finance Committee), Nancy M. Gordon (U.S. Census Bureau), J. Lee Hargraves (Center for Studying Health System Change), Pamela Herd (University of Michigan), Kim Hildred (House Ways and Means Committee), Audrietta C.
