![]() Free Download Poetry in America By Julia Spicher Kasdorf 2011 | 89 Pages | ISBN: 0822961563 | PDF | 1 MB Poetry in America offers extravagantly formed lyric and narrative poems that function like works of social realism for our times: hard times, wartime, divorce, times of downturn and dissipated resources. Where, in such times, can poetry emerge, the book asks--and answers--again and again. Largely set in rural places and small towns, these poems are politically committed but deeply sensuous, emotionally complex and compassionate. They take up the everyday in meaningful ways, and deliver it with blunt force, yet not without hope or bright humor. ![]() Free Download Dan Strange, "Plugged In: Connecting Your Faith With What You Watch, Read, and Play" English | ISBN: 1909919411 | 2019 | 160 pages | PDF | 2 MB Enjoy culture in a way that feeds your faith and helps you share it with others. ![]() Free Download Playing for God : Evangelical Women and the Unintended Consequences of Sports Ministry By Annie Blazer 2015 | 246 Pages | ISBN: 1479818135 | EPUB | 1 MB When sports ministry first emerged in the 1950s and 1960s, its founders imagined male celebrity athletes as powerful salespeople who could deliver a message of Christian strength: "If athletes can endorse shaving cream, razor blades, and cigarettes, surely they can endorse the Lord, too," reasoned Fellowship of Christian Athletes founder Don McClanen. But combining evangelicalism and sport did much more than serve as an advertisement for religion: it gave athletes the opportunity to think about the embodied experiences of sport as a way to experience intimate connection with the divine. As sports ministry developed, it focused on individual religious experiences and downplayed celebrity sales power, opening the door for female Christian athletes to join and eventually dominate sports ministry. Today, women are the majority of participants in sports ministry in the United States. In Playing for God, Annie Blazer offers an exploration of the history and religious lives of Christian athletes, showing that evangelical engagement with popular culture can carry unintended consequences. When sport became an avenue for embodied worship, it forced a reckoning with evangelical teachings about the body. Female Christian athletes increasingly turned to their own bodies to understand their religious identity, and in so doing, came to question evangelical mainstays on gender and sexuality. What was once a male-dominated masculinist project of sports engagement became a female-dominated movement that challenged evangelical ideas on femininity, marriage hierarchy, and the sinfulness of homosexuality. Though evangelicalism has not changed sporting culture, for those involved in sports ministry, sport has changed evangelicalism. ![]() Free Download Plant Protein: 80 quick and delicious high-protein vegan recipes packed with healthy wholefoods by Gigi Grassia English | January 7, 2025 | ISBN: 1529440408 | 208 pages | MOBI | 64 Mb tasty ![]() Free Download Plant Academy: The Cookbook: Plant-based techniques & recipes for creative cooking by Lauren Lovatt, Sophie Dunster, Sara Kiyo Popowa English | February 18, 2025 | ISBN: 0711290482 | 192 pages | EPUB | 13 Mb PLANT ACADEMY: THE COOKBOOK is theinspirationalcookery manual for tasty and beautiful vegan food, teaching the essential ingredients and key techniques you need to create delicious and stunning plant-based dishes. ![]() Free Download Plain Language Big Book: A Tool for Reading Alcoholics Anonymous by Alcoholics Anonymous World Services Inc. Photography in Portuguese Colonial Africa, 1860-1975 brings together sixteen scholars from interdisciplinary fields as varied as history, anthropology, art history, visual culture and museum studies, to consider some of the key aspects in the visual representation of the longest-lasting European colonial empire in the African continent. The chapters span over two centuries and cover five formerly colonial territories - Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe - deploying a range of methodologies to explore the multiple meanings and the contested uses of the photographic image across the realms of politics, science, culture and war. This book responds to a marked surge of international interest in the relationship between photography and colonialism, which has hitherto largely overlooked the Portuguese imperial context, by delivering the most recent scholarly findings to a broad readership. |
