Hakan Yavuz, "Heydar Aliyev and the Foundations of Modern Azerbaijan" English | ISBN: 3031582640 | 2024 | 360 pages | EPUB | 650 KB This edited book examines and analyses Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of modern, post-Soviet Azerbaijan. The editors of the volume discuss developments between 1993 and 2003 - a decade that saw the establishment of the institutional foundations of the current republic, the adoption of a new form of national identity, the redefinition of the concept of the Azerbaijani state, and the creation of a security establishment designed to gain control of territories Armenia had held since the 1988-1994 war over Karabakh. The book explains why this fateful period had far-reaching consequences for Azerbaijan as a fully formed state and society, as well as major implications for its political future and its geopolitical strategy. ![]() Free Download Todd C. Ream, "Hesburgh of Notre Dame: Assessments of a Legacy" English | ISBN: 3031124774 | 2023 | 263 pages | EPUB | 655 KB This volume is the first comprehensive assessment of the life and legacy of Father Theodore Hesburgh (1917-2015), an educator, priest, public servant, and long-serving President of the University of Notre Dame. Despite being a transformative figure in Catholic higher education who led the University of Notre Dame for 35 years and wielded influence with US presidents on civil rights and other charged issues of his era, secular accounts of history often neglect to assess the efforts of religious figures such as Hesburgh. In this volume, the editors and their authors turn a fair-minded but critical eye to the priest's record to evaluate where he fits into the long development of Catholic higher education and Catholics' role in American public life. ![]() Free Download Her Space, Her Time: How Trailblazing Women Scientists Decoded the Hidden Universe by Shohini Ghose English | October 17, 2023 | ISBN: 0262048310 | 272 pages | PDF | 5.02 Mb An exciting new title in the vein of Hidden Figures, which tells the inspiring stories of long-overlooked women physicists and astronomers who discovered the fundamental rules of the universe and reshaped the rules of society. ![]() Free Download Heartbeat Art (Leonardo) by Claudia Arozqueta English | May 27, 2025 | ISBN: 0262551888 | 298 pages | PDF | 50 Mb An innovative history of heartbeats, pulse, and technoscience in the works of a wide international array of artists and composers. ![]() Free Download Healthy Teens, Healthy Schools : How Media Literacy Education Can Renew Education in the United States By Vanessa Domine 2015 | 131 Pages | ISBN: 1475813562 | PDF | 1 MB Widespread obesity, poor nutrition, sleep-deprivation, and highly digital and sedentary lifestyles are just a few of the many challenges facing young people. Although public schools in the United States have the potential for meeting these challenges on a mass scale, they are slow to respond. The emphasis on discrete subject areas and standardized test performance offers little in the way of authentic learning and may in reality impede health. Healthy Teens, Healthy Schools: How Media Literacy Education can Renew Education in the United States reframes health education as a complex terrain that resides within a larger ecosystem of historical, social, political, and global economic forces. It calls for a media literate pedagogy that empowers students to be critical consumers, creative producers, and responsible citizens. This book illustrates holistic health education through school-community initiatives and innovative partnerships that are successful in magnifying all curriculum subjects and their associated teaching practices. Vanessa Domine offers teachers, teacher educators, school administrators, community organizers, public health professionals, and policy makers with a transmedia and transdisciplinary educational approach to adolescent health to demonstrate how our collective focus on cultivating healthy teens will ultimately yield healthy schools. ![]() Free Download Health Workforce in Latin America and the Caribbean : An Analysis of Colombia, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay By Carmen Carpio; Natalia Santiago Bench 2015 | 133 Pages | ISBN: 1464805946 | PDF | 1 MB This report provides a status update on the human resources for health (HRH) sub-system in six Latin American and Caribbean countries: Colombia, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay. The report structures its discussion around how the health workforce is financed, organized, managed, regulated, and performing. In the area of financing, the study presents the variety of contracting mechanisms, salary levels, and financial incentives offered across the countries and their role in being able to attract and retain health workers. On the organization of the HRH sub-system, the report looks at the skill-mix, training, and distribution of health care workers concluding that although the countries have made progress towards achieving key HRH targets and in making education more accessible, there continues to be limited absorption capacity for graduates, the Primary Health Care focus of training programs needs to be strengthened, and strategies to encourage rural service have not been able to fully address the gap in the distribution of health workers. In reviewing management strategies for HRH, the report presents how all countries have adopted the WHO Global Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Personnel to recognize foreign-trained professionals to help address shortages and fill gaps of health worker presence in rural, remote areas. However, the countries continue to struggle with putting self-sufficiency policies in place to meet HRH needs such as the lack of promotion plans, limited non-monetary incentives, and the shortage of personnel for recruitment and eventual placement. In the area of regulation, the report presents the countries' efforts to reduce precarious employment and introduce HRH safety policies and legislation to regulate disputes and negotiations. On performance, the report found mixed results in the areas of access/availability to health workers and quality of care, factors discouraging dual practice, and unjustified absenteeism of health workers. ![]() Free Download Health Law as Private Law: Pathology or Pathway by I.
