Free Download Nafeesah Allen, "Indo-Mozambicans in Maputo, 1947-1992: Oral Narratives on Identity and Migration "
English | ISBN: 3031088255 | 2022 | 256 pages | EPUB | 19 MB
This book explores the experiences of 'Indo-Mozambicans,' citizens and residents of Mozambique who can trace their origins to the Indian subcontinent, a region affected by competing colonialisms during the twentieth century. Drawing from ethnographic interviews, the author illustrates why migration developed as both an identity marker and a survival tool for Indo-Mozambicans living in Maputo, in response to the series of independence movements and prolonged period of geo-political uncertainty that extended from 1947 to 1992. A unique examination of post-colonialism, the book argues that four pivotal moments in history forced migratory patterns and ethnic identity formations to emerge among Indo-Mozambicans, namely, the end of the British empire in India and the subsequent partition of India and Pakistan in 1947; the end of the Portuguese empire in India, with the annexation of Goa, Daman and Diu in 1961; the independence of Mozambique from Portugal in 1975; and the civil war of Mozambique from 1977 to 1992. Framing these historical markers as trigger points for shifts in migration and identity formation, this book demonstrates the layered experiences of people subject to Portuguese colonialism and highlights the important perspective of those 'left behind' in migration studies.

Free Download Individualized Quality of Experience Estimation in Audiovisual Communication (T-Labs Series in Telecommunication Services) by Robert Philipp Spang
English | September 17, 2024 | ISBN: 3031675509 | 172 pages | MOBI | 4.85 Mb
The book presents an in-depth exploration of the Individuality Assisted Estimation (IAE) model in the context of Quality of Experience (QoE) assessment for multimedia, specifically audiovisual communication. The book delves into how individual characteristics, including psychological traits and states, influence perceptions of multimedia quality. The book argues for the integration of individual differences into these assessments, hypothesizing that this approach can enhance the accuracy and relevance of QoE ratings. Through a series of experiments and analyses, the book rigorously evaluates the effectiveness of the IAE model, comparing it against traditional methods, and highlights its particular strengths in estimating task load. The research contributes to the field by emphasizing the importance of individuality in multimedia quality assessment and offering a practical, empirically validated approach for incorporating individual differences into QoE models.

English | ISBN: 9819967171 | 2024 | 223 pages | EPUB | 10 MB
This book opens new pathways for decolonial autoethnography, presented as a series of reflective stories that showcase how Māori have negotiated and navigated their personal and professional identities within contemporary society. Framed within the academic methodology of Indigenous Autoethnography, authors recount their personal and professional experiences to address their encounters with cultural trauma and personal enlightenment. As a culturally responsive methodology, Indigenous Autoethnography embraces reflective practice and critical awakening to validate Indigenous knowledge, ensuring that it remains meaningful and responsive to the needs of Māori. Utilising metaphorical storytelling as a primary means of sensemaking, this work reinforces the importance of Māori and other Indigenous People to seek wisdom from the past to guide them into the future. With Indigenous knowledge historically ignored and misrepresented in higher education, this seminal text provides invaluable guidance for global Indigenous researchers seeking to produce story work that genuinely encompasses physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions.

Free Download Aslam Khan, "India's Energy Diplomacy in Eurasia: Geopolitical and Geo-economic Perspectives"
English | ISBN: 9819982804 | 2023 | 336 pages | EPUB | 13 MB
This book provides an accurate evaluation of re-integration of Eurasia in the context of India's energy security and diplomacy which requires a normative shift as in the current Eurasian geopolitical and geo-economic matrix, the growing role of transit countries and their proximity with the Energy Complex Zone negates the fact that great powers or strong states control the Eurasian Heartland. Authors believe that wrecking this norm is fundamental here to deconstruct the undercurrents of energy geopolitics prevailing in Eurasia over the emerging phenomenon, as it discourages the re-integration of the Eurasian region. It explores how the geopolitical struggle between major powers for energy resources has been engendering mutual interdependencies between energy producers and transit countries.
