Free Download Designing Organizations: A Very Brief Introduction by Stefan Kühl, Judith Muster
English | August 19, 2025 | ISBN: 3032008565 | 71 pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 2.86 Mb
When (re-)designing organizations, one must first be clear about what is meant by the structures of an organization and what can be done in order to change them. In this book, we present communication channels, programs and personnel as central structures. We also unfold the aspects that come to the forefront when one focuses on either the formal, the informal or the display side of an organization. At the core, we elaborate on how structures cause blind spots, and how these can be utilized for processes of change.

Free Download Desiccant-Assisted Cooling: Fundamentals and Applications By Carlos Eduardo Leme Nóbrega, Nisio Carvalho Lobo Brum
2014 | 281 Pages | ISBN: 1447155645 | PDF | 9 MB
The increasing concern with indoor air quality has led to air-quality standards with increased ventilation rates. Although increasing the volume flow rate of outside air is advisable from the perspective of air-quality, it is detrimental to energy consumption, since the outside air has to be brought to the comfort condition before it is insufflated to the conditioned ambient. Moreover, the humidity load carried within outside air has challenging HVAC engineers to design cooling units which are able to satisfactorily handle both sensible and latent contributions to the thermal load. This constitutes a favorable scenario for the use of solid desiccants to assist the cooling units. In fact, desiccant wheels have been increasingly applied by HVAC designers, allowing distinct processes for the air cooling and dehumidification. In fact, the ability of solid desiccants in moisture removal is effective enough to allow the use of evaporative coolers, in opposition to the traditional vapor-compression cycle, resulting in an ecologically sound system which uses only water as the refrigerant. Desiccant Assisted Cooling: Fundamentals and Applications presents different approaches to the mathematical modeling and simulation of desiccant wheels, as well as applications in thermal comfort and humidity controlled environments. Experts in the field discuss topics from enthalpy, lumped models for heat and mass transfer, and desiccant assisted radiant cooling systems, among others. Aimed at air-conditioning engineers and thermal engineering researchers, this book can also be used by graduate level students and lecturers in the field.

Free Download Delta Ecosystems: From Contamination to Conservation
English | 2025 | ISBN: 3031979192 | 260 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 51 MB
This comprehensive volume delves into the intricacies of delta ecosystems, focusing on the transition from contamination to conservation. It addresses the critical challenges faced by these unique environments and introduces innovative solutions essential for sustainable restoration practices. Central to the discussion is the strategic improvement of restoration infrastructure and methods, aimed at reducing environmental impact while enhancing ecological health. The book emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach, demonstrating how collaboration among civil engineers, environmental scientists, and conservation experts can lead to the development of more effective restoration projects. Globally, over 600 million people reside in delta regions. Human activities in these areas, including their supplying canals, rivers, and estuaries, exert significant pressure on the natural resources and habitat equilibrium of deltas, leading to resource degradation and threatening the livelihoods and lives of inhabitants.

Free Download Delacroix's Moroccans: Art and Masculinity by Jennifer W. Olmsted
English | June 10, 2025 | ISBN: 0271098961 | True EPUB | 216 pages | 54.96 MB
The Women of Algiers in Their Apartment is arguably Eugène Delacroix's best-known work from his trip to Morocco in 1832, and the attention scholars have paid to it has obscured a crucial fact about Delacroix's Moroccan subjects: most of his paintings of North Africa depict men rather than women.

Free Download Decommissioning Aging Installations and Declining Technologies: Burden or Inspiration? (SpringerBriefs in Applied Sciences and Technology) by Mathilde Bourrier
English | August 19, 2025 | ISBN: 3031883683 | 118 pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 14 Mb
This open-access brief tackles the idea, prevalent in some industrial sectors, that decommissioning, de-pollution and waste management are a necessary evil rather than a predictable phase of industry for which preparations can and should be made in advance. The brief forms the beginning of a conversation on the conditions under which current examples of decommissioning and phasing-out could help establish a basis for envisioning future dismantling efforts across safety-critical systems and in the light of the sustainability transitions with which many sectors have to engage. What are the conditions that would allow these operations to be seen, not as a sad act of deconstruction, but rather as a source of learning about technological rebound, renaissance and ecological redirection?
