Anlass für das neue Buch waren die unzähligen Gartenfragen, die den Autor in den letzten zehn Jahren erreicht haben. "Ich bekomme über meine Homepage täglich zwischen 20 und 30 Fragen, die ich alle selbst beantworte", erläutert der enthusiastische Gartenliebhaber Ploberger. Für ihn ist sein elektronischer Frage-postkasten ein "Problem-Barometer". "Bevor andere überhaupt erkennen, dass es ein neues Problem gibt, erkenne ich das schon anhand der Fragen", sagt Ploberger, der zum Beispiel das Auftreten des Buchsbaumzünslers in unseren Breiten schon ausmachte, als in Fachkreisen davon noch keine Rede war. Und so dreht sich im ersten Teil viel um unerwünschte Gartengäste wie die Kirschessigfliegen, die immer lästiger werden, weil sie nicht bloß Kirschen, sondern vor allem auch Himbeeren, Brombeeren und Weintrauben anknabbern. Freilich fehlen aber auch die alltäglichen "alten" Sorgen nicht: etwa wie man nun wirklich der Trockenheit ein Schnippchen schlägt und richtig gießt oder welche Pflanzen für den einen oder anderen Standort besonders gut geeignet sind. Der zweite Teil des Buches befasst sich mit den sogenannten "Gartenirrtümern". Es gibt nämlich zahlreiche Gerüchte, die sich hartnäckig halten, obwohl sie falsch sind. So zum Beispiel der oft zu lesende Tipp, dass man im Hochsommer die Blätter der Küchenzwiebeln umknicken soll, damit die Pflanzen ausreifen und größer werden. Oder dass man lieber täglich ein wenig gießen muss, wenn es sehr heiß ist: "Gerade das Gegenteil ist richtig", erklärt Ploberger. In dem Buch findet man freilich nicht nur die an ihn gerichteten Fragen, sondern auch all die anderen Tipps, die er immer wieder gibt - egal, wo er sich gerade befindet: "Weil ich Sie gerade sehe ..., beginnt oft die Begrüßung", lacht Ploberger und erinnert sich an eine der lustigsten Geschichten, als er sogar einmal auf der Toilette von einem neben ihm stehenden Mann über Wollläuse befragt wurde ... Ja, so geht's einem, der seine Leidenschaft zum Beruf gemacht hat. |
