David E. Rival, "Biological and Bio-Inspired Fluid Dynamics: Theory and Application"
English | ISBN: 3030902706 | 2022 | 191 pages | MOBI | 1362 KB
This text provides the reader with tools necessary to study biological and bio-inspired flows, all the while developing an appreciation for their evolutionary and engineering constraints. It is suitable for students already exposed to introductory concepts in fluid mechanics and applied mechanics as a whole, but who would not need an advanced training in fluid mechanics per se. Currently no textbook exists that can take students from an introductory position in fluid mechanics to these contemporary topics of interest. The book is ideal for upper-level undergraduates and graduate students studying a range of engineering domains as well as biology, or even medicine.

Biological Outlook to Improve the Nutritive Quality of Bakery Products by Gaurav Sanghvi, Nitin Kumar Singh, Ashok Kumar Bishoyi
English | January 3, 2025 | ISBN: 981978560X, 9819785634 | 227 pages | MOBI | 2.13 Mb
This book aims to bring the focus on biological viewpoint and alternatives for producing the baked goods, as the confectionary is a major market segment comprising of the sugar and baked products. The bakery products include major segments including cereals, bread, chocolates, cookies, and other confectionary items. This book provides the data regarding the market of baked goods, as it is forecasted to increase at growth rate of 5.8% (CAGR) and it's expected to reach around its growth around (7%) by 2025 (Fortune insights 2022). The book also classifies amongst the major consumers worldwide, Asia pacific contributes around 43%, western Europe contributes around 22% while Africa continent represents as smallest group of consumers for baked confectionary consumers. The book provides information regarding health concerns as baked goods are liked by population of all ages. As per the data mentioned above the bakery goods are consumed heavily without clear insights about its health concerns. Majority of baked goods are made up of all-purpose flour having serious risk concerns/impact on health and higher consumption of bakery goods can increase sugar, cholesterol level and can also cause further problem in liver or heart functions. Although, gluten free, multigrain baked confectionaries are now a day's available in the market but the still the better understanding of the bio-based products is need of current time. The biological viewpoint especially for the bakery goods can serve as initial point for better handling baked goods in context of upbringing of healthy society. The book targets students and researchers interested in interdisciplinary research and devising novel biological applications with special focus on bakery products.

Biogas im Garten: Bauanleitung für Selbstversorger
Deutsch | 10 Feb. 2025 | ASIN: B0DWSGGNH6 | 47 Seiten | Epub | 1.94 MB

Biofilm Infections By Thomas Bjarnsholt (auth.), Thomas Bjarnsholt, Peter Østrup Jensen, Claus Moser, Niels Høiby (eds.)
2011 | 314 Pages | ISBN: 144196083X | PDF | 7 MB
There has been an increasing interest and emphasis on the sessile bacterial lifestyle biofilms since it was discovered that the vast majority of the total microbial biomass exists as biofilms. Leeuwenhoek first described the aggregation of bacteria in 1677, but it was only recently recognized as being important in chronic infection. In 1993, the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) recognized that the biofilm mode of growth was relevant to microbiology. This book covers both the evidence for biofilms in many chronic bacterial infections as well as the problems facing these infections such as diagnostics, pathogenesis, treatment regimes, and in vitro and in vivo models for studying biofilms. This is the first scientific book on biofilm infections, with chapters written by world- renowned scientists and clinicians. The intended audience of this book includes scientists, teachers at the university level, as well as clinicians. About the Editors: Thomas Bjarnsholt, Ph.D., Technical University of Denmark, Lyngby, Denmark Peter Oestrup Jensen, Dept. of Clinical Microbiology, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark Claus Moser, Ph.D., Dept. of Clinical Microbiology, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark Niels Hoeby, Dept. of Clinical Microbiology, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark

Biofilm Cities: How Microbes Build, Defend, and Communicate (The Library of Unconventional Ideas)
English | 23 Jan. 2026 | ASIN: B0GJTMMT5H | 260 pages | EPUB (True) | 9.23 MB
We tend to imagine bacteria as solitary wanderers floating in test tubes, but the reality beneath our feet and inside our bodies is far more complex. Biofilm Cities reveals that most microbes actually live in thriving, fortified communities that rival human metropolises in organization. This book answers a fundamental question: how do single-celled organisms cooperate to build structures, wage wars, and survive conditions that would kill an individual in seconds? It is an essential read for science enthusiasts, healthcare professionals, and anyone curious about the invisible social lives of the microscopic world. Readers will journey through the slime-paved streets of microbial mega-structures, discovering how bacteria engineer water channels, communicate via chemical languages, and ruthlessly police their own citizens against freeloaders. You will learn why these biological fortresses are so resistant to antibiotics, turning standard medical treatments into futile sieges, and explore how they wreak havoc on industrial pipelines while simultaneously cleaning our wastewater. From the plaque on your teeth to the rust on oil rigs, this narrative uncovers the massive impact of these microscopic collectives. Part of The Library of Unconventional Ideas, this volume bridges the gap between academic microbiology and popular science. By treating biofilms as sophisticated cities rather than mere infections, it offers a fresh perspective on the oldest life forms on Earth. Concise, engaging, and rigorously researched, this book provides the intellectual tools to understand the sticky
