The dance of the geniuses - part II: From natural intelligence to artificial consciousness | Modeling artificial conscious systems
English | 17 Jan. 2026 | ASIN: B0GGZS5DMV | 64 pages | Epub | 1.19 MB
What if artificial intelligence is not merely a tool, but an active participant in shaping reality? In Part II of The Dance of the Geniuses , the inquiry moves from foundations into responsibility. Building on the ideas introduced in Part I-where intelligence, consciousness, time, and values were shown to be inseparably entangled-this volume addresses one of the most consequential questions of our time: how artificial systems should be designed once they begin to influence which futures become real. This book introduces the concept of Artificial Conscious Intelligence (ACI) as a functional extension of natural conscious intelligence. Rather than treating "natural" and "artificial" as opposing realms, it argues that artificial systems are crystallizations of human intelligence itself. As such, they inherit not only our computational power, but also our values, our blind spots, and our ethical risks. Once embedded in society, artificial systems do not merely predict outcomes; they participate in shaping them. Part II examines why intelligence-human or artificial-so often fails. Blindness, value misalignment, flawed reasoning, indecision, inaction, and deliberate harm are shown not as accidental flaws, but as structural vulnerabilities of conscious intelligence itself. Understanding these failure modes is essential before attempting to scale intelligence through machines. At the core of the book lies a central claim: intelligence without an explicit hierarchy of values is not neutral-it is dangerous. Values are not constraints placed on intelligence after the fact; they are the mechanism by which intelligence decides what matters, what to ignore, which futures to imagine, and which actions to take. To address this, the book formalizes a layered Hierarchy of Values-Logos, Telos, Ethos, Kairos, and Tropos-designed to anchor artificial systems with immutable core principles while allowing controlled adaptation at the surface. The book culminates in the Artificial Conscious Intelligence Framework (ACIF), a practical architecture for building Artificial Conscious Systems using today's technologies, including Large Language Models. ACIF reframes interaction with AI by treating inputs as representations of reality rather than questions, embedding explicit value hierarchies, maintaining internal models of unfolding reality, inferring multiple possible futures, and generating concrete, value-aligned plans of action. Full specifications and a reusable system-prompt template are included for direct experimentation. This book does not claim that machines possess subjective experience. Instead, it shows how the functions of conscious intelligence-interpretation, evaluation, foresight, decision, and action-can be responsibly modeled without mysticism or reductionism. Artificial systems do not invent values; they amplify the ones we encode. As intelligence increasingly shapes social, informational, and physical reality, neutrality becomes an illusion. The future will be shaped regardless. The remaining question is under which values, and with what responsibility. The Dance of the Geniuses - Part II is written for technologists, researchers, philosophers, and leaders seeking a disciplined framework for understanding and designing intelligence that does not merely optimize outcomes, but helps steward futures worth living.

The Worst Ideas In Western Philosophy: 20 Profound Thoughts That Broke Civilization (And Why Everyone Still Believes Them) (Cogito Ergo Nope)
English | June 16, 2025 | ASIN: B0FDGKJ118 | 214 pages | EPUB (True) | 1.36 MB
The funniest philosophy book you'll ever read-and the most devastating. For 2,500 years, Western civilization's brightest minds have been having spectacularly terrible ideas and convincing everyone else they're profound wisdom. From Plato's reality-denying Forms to postmodernism's truth-denying everything, philosophers have turned the simple act of being human into an impossibly complicated nightmare of bad theories and worse consequences. This book is your hilarious, savage, and surprisingly educational tour through philosophy's greatest disasters: Why Plato thought your entire life was fake (and why tech bros still believe him) How Descartes split humans into ghosts driving meat robots Why Kant's moral system would let Nazis murder your family rather than tell a lie How Marx explained all of history through economics while mooching off his capitalist friend Why philosophers convinced themselves that nothing matters while still caring very much about tenure With biting wit and savage humor, this book exposes the elaborate nonsense that passes for profound wisdom in philosophy departments worldwide. You'll learn to spot bad ideas before they ruin your worldview, understand why smart people believe stupid things, and discover why that one philosophy major at every party is always so insufferable. Perfect for: Students suffering through Philosophy 101 Anyone who's ever wondered if philosophers are just making it up People who suspect their existential crisis was manufactured by dead Europeans Readers who like their enlightenment with a side of entertainment Anyone who's ever thought "this makes no sense" while reading philosophy (you were right) Warning: This book may cause uncontrollable eye-rolling at philosophy majors, clarity of thought, and the sudden ability to spot intellectual BS from across a crowded room. Side effects include laughing at ideas you're supposed to take seriously and realizing your community college dropout uncle understands life better than most German philosophers.

The World of Chaucer By Derek Brewer
2000 | 240 Pages | ISBN: 0859916073 | PDF | 3 MB
Geoffrey Chaucer died on 25 October 1400. To mark the six-hundredth anniversary of his death Derek Brewer's classic book is once again available in a fully illustrated version: over one hundred contemporary colour and black and white illustrations, from the homely to the refined - from children's games and cooking to falconry and music-making - bring the late middle ages to life. Chaucer's English world - that of the second half of the fourteenth century - is rich in interest of every kind, and Chaucer was a uniquely perceptive recorder of it. The tensions between tradition and innovation led to severe, sometimes violent, clashes; age-old customs were contested by the new individualism among the educated, by passionate religious dissent in high and low, and by peasants in revolt. London, caught up in the intellectual ferment, became an economic and cultural force to rival the great Continental cities, yet remained closely linked with the royal court and the church, strongholds of tradition. The English language came to its first full flowering since the Norman conquest, and many international influences were absorbed; among the turmoil, the arts flourished. Chaucer stood close to the centre of this world. He was one of the new literate laymen, a product of the merchant-gentry, from early youth a courtier, briefly a soldier, throughout his life an administrator, diplomat, scholar. He was also a very great poet: drawing freely from his work, Derek Brewer's biography gives a full and rounded picture of a distant but fascinating age. DEREK BREWERhas written many books and articles on Chaucer and medieval and later English literature. He is professor of English literature emeritus in the University of Cambridge, and was Master of Emmanuel College from 1977-90.

John Curtis, "The World of Achaemenid Persia: History, Art and Society in Iran and the Ancient Near East"
English | ISBN: 1848853467 | 2010 | 648 pages | MOBI | 17 MB
Interest and fascination in Achaemenid Persia has burgeoned in recent years. It is time for a major new appraisal of the glorious civilization founded by Cyrus the Great and continued by his successors, the Great Kings Darius I, Xerxes and Artaxerxes I. This volume offers precisely that: a sustained and comprehensive overview of the field of Achaemenid studies by leading scholars and experts. It discusses all aspects of Achaemenid history and archaeology between 550 BCE and 330 BCE, and embraces the whole vast territory of the Persian Empire from North Africa to India and from Central Asia to the Persian Gulf. Topics covered include aspects of Achaemenid religion, administration, material culture, ethnicity, gender and the survival of Achaemenid traditions. The publication of the book is an event: it represents a watershed not only in better appreciation and understanding of the rich and complex cultural heritage established by Cyrus, but also of the lasting significance of the Achaemenid kings and the impact that their remarkable civilization has had on wider Persian and Middle Eastern history.
