Reiner Schürmann's thinking is, as he himself would say, "riveted to a monstrous site." It remains focused on and situated between natality and mortality, the ultimate traits that condition human life. This book traces the contours of Schürmann's thinking in his magnum opus Broken Hegemonies in order to uncover the possibility of a politics that resists the hegemonic tendency to posit principles that set the world and our relationships with one another into violent order.The book follows in the footsteps of Oedipus who, in abject recognition of his finitude, stumbles upon the possibility of another politics with the help of his daughters at Colonus. The path toward this other, collaboratively created and thus poetic politics begins with an encounter with Aristotle, a thinker whom Schürmann most frequently read as the founder of hegemonic metaphysics, but whose thinking reveals itself as alive to beginnings in ways that open new possibility for human community.This return to beginnings leads, in turn, to Descriptioninus, who Schürmann reads as marking the destitution of the ancient hegemony of the Parmenidean principle of the One. By bringing Schürmann's innovative and compelling reading of René Char's poem, The Shark and the Gull, into dialogue with Descriptioninus we come to encounter the power of symbols to transform reality and open us to new constellations of possible community. In Descriptioninus, where we expected to encounter an end, we experience a new way of thinking natality in terms of what comes to language in Char as the nuptial. Having thus been awakened to the power of symbols, we are prepared to experience how in Kant being itself comes to expression as plurivocal in a way that reveals just how pathologically delusional it is to attempt to deploy univocal principles in a plurivocal world. This opens us to what Schürmann calls the "singularization to come," a formulation that gestures to a mode of comportment at home in the ravaged site between natality and mortality. This then returns us to Oedipus at Colonus; but not to him alone. Rather, it points to the relationship that emerges for a time between Antigone, Ismene, and Oedipus, as they navigate a way between their exile from Thebes and Oedipus's final resting place near Athens. Here, having been awakened to the power of a poetic politics, we attend to three symbolic moments of touching between Oedipus and his daughters through which we might discern something of the new possibilities a poetic politics opens for us if we settle into the ravaged site that conditions our existence, together. Christopher P. Long is Professor of Philosophy and Dean of the College of Arts & Letters at Michigan State University. His extensive publications in Ancient Greek and Contemporary Continental Philosophy include four books: The Ethics of Ontology (SUNY, 2004), Aristotle On the Nature of Truth (Cambridge, 2010), and Socratic and Platonic Political Philosophy: Practicing a Politics of Reading (Cambridge, 2014). So that's what they do."-RFK Jr.'On his deathbed Robert Trumbull Crowley, CIA Director of Clandestine Operations, released the Project Zipper files detailing the true extent of the agency involvement in the death of JFK. He was at every planning session for the assassination. And he kept copious notes and a list of all the people who attended. Those files reveal that the Department of Defense, the CIA, the Deep State, the Joint Chiefs of Staff all got together with the architect of this fiasco, James Jesus Angleton, and held a mock trial of President Kennedy and Robert Kennedy in absentia, a star chamber, and condemned him to death for high treason. They then planned the execution of President Kennedy in a public execution in Dallas. A month after the assassination, exactly one month, December 22, 1963, they had an after action briefing to discuss how the operation had gone and how it was going as far as the cover up was concerned. They said that Lyndon Johnson had been told about the Description beforehand that they assassinated President Kennedy in front of Lyndon Johnson so that he would know that if he did not go along, the same thing would happen to him. They also acknowledged that what they were doing was illegal. They claim that going through the national constitutional procedures of impeachment and trial and senate would take too long and that he had to be removed immediately, so they had to use extra-legal methods to conduct this public execution. Many, many more things are revealed in the zipper files. Crowley handed over these files to a writer named Gregory Douglas who wrote this book. Apparently, all copies of Regicide were bought up and taken off the shelves in the United States, but a limited number of copies survived.It describes not only the Chicago mafia element of the assassination, but also the French Corsican mafia assassins who were sent there, and then where they themselves assassinated in the aftermath. The American people should know that one of the principal causes of the Vietnam War was to assure France that they would be able to continue the drug running operations that they had been running in Indochina since World War II. And that was that the Golden Triangle is a landlocked area and France begged the US government not to pull out a Vietnam because Vietnam was essential to the drug trade. When Vietnam's rivers, the French could not export the drugs from the Golden Triangle. They had to smuggle them through the rivers of Vietnam to the coast where they could be shipped to the United States and to Cuba for processing and dissemination. So in 1967, Charles De Gaulle went to Washington and he met with the CIA director and again begged them not to withdraw from Vietnam. And then in return for holding on to Vietnam, facilitating the French connection drug trade, they would split the profits of that drug trade 50-50 with the CIA. And that's where the black funding, the dark money, has been funding illicit operations for the CIA and for the French government since 1967 until actually the United States had to withdraw. So all the casualties of that war was the price paid to fund the agencies agenda for world domination instilled by the Project Paperclip mentors installed at the founding of the agency by the Dulles brothers.This virus of corruption and mistrust spread throughout the government and society to make a mockery of the spirit of democracy intended by the drafters of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. It continues to erode the fabric of society to this day and sets the unspoken code of what it takes to succeed in the nation's capital.
