Free Download Database and Expert Systems Applications: 16th International Conference, DEXA 2005, Copenhagen, Denmark, August 22-26, 2005. Proceedings By Lotfi Bouzguenda (auth.), Kim Viborg Andersen, John Debenham, Roland Wagner (eds.)
2005 | 955 Pages | ISBN: 3540317295 | PDF | 14 MB
DEXA 2005, the 16th International Conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications, was held at the Copenhagen Business School, Copenhagen, Denmark, from August 22 to 26, 2005. The success of the DEXA series has partly been due to the way in which it has kept abreast of recent developments by spawning specialized workshops and conferences each with its own proceedings. In 2005 the DEXA programme was co-located with the 7th International Conference on Data Warehousing and Knowledge Discovery [DaWaK 2005], the 6th International Conference on Electronic Commerce and Web Technologies [EC-Web 2005], the 4th International Conference on Electronic Government [EGOV 2005], the 2nd International Conference on Trust, Privacy, and Security in Digital Business [TrustBus 2005], the 2nd International Conference on Industrial Applications of Holonic and Multi-agent Systems [HoloMAS 2005], as well as 19 specialized workshops. These proceedings are the result of a considerable amount of hard work. Beginning with the preparation of submitted papers, the papers went through the reviewing process. This process was supported by online discussion between the reviewers to determine the final conference program. The authors of accepted papers revised their manuscripts to produce this fine collection. DEXA 2005 received 390 submissions, and from those the Program Committee selected the 92 papers in these proceedings. This year the reviewing process generated more than 1000 referee reports. The hard work of the authors, the referees and the Program Committee is gratefully acknowledged.

Database Support for Data Mining Applications Discovering Knowledge with Inductive Queries
Free Download Database Support for Data Mining Applications: Discovering Knowledge with Inductive Queries By Jean-François Boulicaut (auth.), Rosa Meo, Pier Luca Lanzi, Mika Klemettinen (eds.)
2004 | 332 Pages | ISBN: 3540224793 | PDF | 3 MB
Data mining from traditional relational databases as well as from non-traditional ones such as semi-structured data, Web data, and scientific databases housing biological, linguistic, and sensor data has recently become a popular way of discovering hidden knowledge. This book on database support for data mining is developed to approaches exploiting the available database technology, declarative data mining, intelligent querying, and associated issues, such as optimization, indexing, query processing, languages, and constraints. Attention is also paid to the solution of data preprocessing problems, such as data cleaning, discretization, and sampling. The 16 reviewed full papers presented were carefully selected from various workshops and conferences to provide complete and competent coverage of the core issues. Some papers were developed within an EC funded project on discovering knowledge with inductive queries.

Cultural Linguistics and (Re)conceptualized Tradition Past in Present
Free Download Cultural Linguistics and (Re)conceptualized Tradition: Past in Present
English | 2024 | ISBN: 981976324X | 474 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 34 MB
This book offers a cutting-edge compilation of studies on (re)conceptualized traditions in a wide variety of discourses such as the language of emotion, folklore, religion and morality, the natural environment, idioms and proverbs. It also raises complex theoretical and methodological questions regarding the cultural-cognitive linguistic approach to metaphors and figurative language, embodiment, diachronic and corpus linguistics, and pragmatics. The languages under scrutiny range from well-documented to minority varieties, and even to endangered languages and dialects. Building from the assertion that cultural conceptualizations are rendered as manifestations of the interplay between language, culture, and the collective cognition of communities as handed down from generation to generation, this edited book discovers and rebuilds traditional cultural cognition. Employing analytical tools provided by the cultural-cognitive linguistic framework, the authors investigate how the field is being revitalized and renegotiated in present-day cultural contexts, and how it contributes to shaping our contemporary understanding of the world. It is useful for academics and students interested in cultural and cognitive linguistics, ethnosemantics, sociolinguistics, pragmatics, applied linguistics, linguistic anthropology, and religious studies.
