Today, as heirs of this tradition, we are still stuck in Eurocentrism (and often racism), and now even threaten to ruin nature by destroying biodiversity and causing the climate to warm up dangerously. Applied through an anthropological perspective, this book calls for a NEED-humanism: Not-Eurocentric, Ecological and (economically) Durable approach that can help promote inclusion and pluralism. ![]() Free Download How to program in PYTHON: A beginners guide by Prof. Stephen W. Thus, a common 1/2" supply line, flowing at 6 fps, can generate a pressure rise of 360 psig above and beyond the flow pressure itself (right). The resultant shock wave bounces back and forth within the supply line until it reaches a point of relief in a larger main where the initial velocity was much slower. Within plastic pipe systems, such as PVC, CPVC, and PEX, the modulus of elasticity is much less than copper or steel pipe, and thus the velocity of the pressure wave is slower. This results in a lower pressure rise in plastic pipe versus metal pipe, given the same parameters. However, an equal amount of kinetic energy exists in both plastic and metal systems. So where does the energy go if it does not result in the same type of pressure rise? The answer is the excessive energy is absorbed into the plastic piping system by the instantaneous expansion of the pipe, fittings and appurtenances within the system. Historically, water hammer damage to the pipe itself is not the main concern, because the pipe can generally handle these expansions and contractions. Rather, it is the wide variety of fitting systems for plastic pipe (i.e., solvent weld, mechanical crimp, pinch clamps, expansion fittings, both made from brass and hard plastic) that are at risk. Why Air Chambers Don't Work It used to be thought that an air chamber, or capped stand pipe, was an effective solution to controlling water hammer. However, within an air chamber, nothing separates the air from the water. It only takes a few short weeks before the air is absorbed into the water, leaving the air chamber waterlogged and completely ineffective. Laboratory tests confirm that the air is depleted by simple air permeation and by interaction between static pressure and flow pressure. In the diagram shown, (right) notice the difference in water level between "Static Line Pressure" and "Post-cycle Static Level." ![]() Free Download Home-Oriented Informatics and Telematics By Elin Wihlborg (auth.), Andy Sloane (eds.) 2005 | 335 Pages | ISBN: 0387251782 | PDF | 20 MB International Federation for Information ProcessingThe IFIP series publishes state-of-the-art results in the sciences and technologies of information and communication. In the context of the cold war and the memory of the fascist past, he was able to exploit the combination of his religious, generational, regional, and educational (he has a PhD in History) experiences by connecting nationalist ideas to particular biographical narratives. Kohl presented himself as the embodiment of "normality": a de-radicalized German nationalism which was intended to eclipse any anti-Western and post-national peculiarities. This book takes a biographical approach to the study of nationalism by examining its manifestation in Helmut Kohl and the way he historicized Germany's past. ![]() Free Download Renée Hirschon, "Heirs of the Greek Catastrophe: The Social Life of Asia Minor Refugees in Piraeus" English | ISBN: 1805390139 | 2023 | 348 pages | PDF | 26 MB Heirs of the Greek Catastrophe is a landmark work in the areas of anthropology and migration studies. Since its first publication in 1989, this classic study has remained in demand. The third edition is published to mark the centenary of the 1923 Lausanne Convention which led to the movement of some 1.5 million persons between Greece and Turkey at the conclusion of their war. It includes updated material with a new Preface, Afterword by Ayhan Aktar, and map of the wider region. The new Preface provides the context in which the original research took place, assesses its innovative aspects and explores the dimensions of history and identity which are predominant themes in the book. ![]() Free Download George Pattison, "Heidegger and Kierkegaard " English | ISBN: 1009417479 | 2025 | 75 pages | PDF | 2 MB The work examines the presence and significance of Kierkegaard in Heidegger's work. After setting out the context of Heidegger's reception of the Danish thinker and examining his likely knowledge of his writings, the work first examines key Kierkegaardian concepts that are explicitly present in Being and Time, including existence, 'idle talk' (Gerede), anxiety, the moment of vision, repetition, and the existential significance of death. It is seen that Heidegger regarded Kierkegaard as an essentially religious writer whose work was only indirectly relevant to Heidegger's own project of fundamental ontology. Subsequently, the work considers the place of Kierkegaard in Heidegger's writings from the 1930s onwards, concluding with consideration of the paper Heidegger submitted for the 1963 Paris UNESCO conference marking the 150th anniversary of Kierkegaard's thought. |
