However, all the reviews and monographs on this subject deal only with crystalline conductors. At present, mainly in the Soviet Union, experi mental and theoretical investigations have been extended to liquid and solid amorphous conductors, and in particular to such semiconductors. However, all the work published so far in this field is in the form of separate papers scat tered throughout various journals, and there has as yet been no Soviet or for eign review of the theoretical work on amorphous semiconductors, in spite of the increasing interest in them. The investigation of liquid and amorphous semiconductors is of great practical importance, first, because all the solid semico'nductors are usually prepared from the liquid phase and it is important to know the electrical and other properties of this phase; secondly, amorphous semiconductors are beginning to be used in industry, for example, amorphous Sb S films in vidicon tubes. In some cases, especially in optical instruments, 2 S amorphous semiconductors have advantages compared with crystals. Theore tical studies of amorphous semiconductors should help in these practical applications. The present monograph is the first attempt to present systematically the quantum electron theory of amorphous conductors. The most interesting-in the author's view-theoretical papers on this subject, published in journals are reviewed and critically compared. ![]() Free Download Quantum Ecology: Why and How New Information Technologies Will Reshape Societies by Stefano Calzati, Derrick de Kerckhove English | November 12, 2024 | ISBN: 0262546213 | 232 pages | PDF | 3.40 Mb An exploration of the emerging quantum technological paradigm and its effects on human consciousness and cultures. ![]() Free Download Quantized Heat Flow as a Probe of Thermal Equilibration and Edge Structures of Quantum Hall Phases in Graphene English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031670507 | 353 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 66 MB This book describes the quantized thermal conductance measurements of integer and several fractional quantum Hall (QH) states realized in graphene devices. Although the electrical conductance quantization of the QH effect in graphene was demonstrated in 2005, a heat flow study of QH states needed to be included. This becomes particularly essential for the hole-conjugate fractional QH phases, where counterpropagating edge modes lead to complex transport behavior. The experimental results reported in this thesis are the first set of experiments done for the quantized heat flow in graphene devices since the first mechanical isolation of graphene flakes. The book devotes two detailed introductory chapters to the electronic properties of the graphene and its bilayer and trilayer parts at zero magnetic fields, and to the essential physics of the integer and fractional quantum Hall (FQH) states, the topological order of FQH phases and the experiments that can detect them. ![]() Free Download Quantization, Coherent States, and Complex Structures By Daniel Canarutto, Arkadiusz Jadczyk, Marco Modugno (auth.), J.-P. Antoine, S. Twareque Ali, W. Lisiecki, I. M. Mladenov, A. Odzijewicz (eds.) 1995 | 302 Pages | ISBN: 148991062X | PDF | 10 MB The XIIIth Bialowieza Summer Workshop was held from July 9 to 15, 1994. While still within the general framework of Differential Geometric Methods in Physics, the XnIth Workshop was expanded in scope to include quantum groups, q-deformations and non-commutative geometry. It is expected that lectures on these topics will now become an integral part of future workshops. In the more traditional areas, lectures were devoted to topics in quantization, field theory, group representations, coherent states, complex and Poisson structures, the Berry phase, graded contractions and some infinite-dimensional systems. Those of us who have taken part in the evolution of the workshops over the years, feel a good measure of satisfaction with the excellent quality of the papers presented, in particular the mathematical rigour and novelty. Each year a significant number of new results are presented and future directions of research are discussed. Their freshness and immediacy inevitably leads to intense discussions and an exchange of ideas in an informal and physically charming environment. The present workshop also had a higher attendance than its predecessors, with ap proximately 65 registered participants. As usual, there was a large number of graduate students and young researchers among them. ![]() Free Download R. B. Gupta, M. P. Khanna, "Quantitative Techniques for Managerial Decisions" English | 2011 | ASIN: B00K7YGOHW | PDF | pages: 771 | 6.9 mb This thoroughly revised and well-received book, now in its Fourth Edition, continues to give an in-depth and incisive analysis of the various mathematical techniques required for managers in their decision-making process. The book provides a clear understanding of the practical utility of mathematical modelling and techniques, such as linear programming, integer programming, goal programming, dynamic programming, inventory models, decision theory, game theory, network analysis, queuing, simulation and Markov analysis, for solving real-life problems. The book lays emphasis on the practical applications of the techniques rather than their rigorous mathematical treatment. It also discusses probability and probability distributions-essential to tackling the everyday uncertainties of life. ![]() Free Download Quantitative Imaging in Medicine: Background and Basics by Robert J. Hartmann Ph.D. (auth.) 1995 | 93 Pages | ISBN: 3540591990 | PDF | 4 MB Radiosurgery performed with the "Gamma Knife" or on a linac facility is a specific radiotherapy method to treat certain lesions in the brain with a high single radiation dose. Geometric miss of a radiosurgica target is considered the most likely serious error in a stereotactic radiosurgery treaatment. Therefore, the issue of quality assurance in stereotactic radiosurgery is a serious one for neurosurgeons, physicists, patients and those of us who wish to analyze the results of radiosurgery. The purpose of this book is to offer and describe a quality assurance program and procedures of the physical and technical aspects through identifying the sources of possible errors and suggesting quality assurance tests that should be performed in order for a stereotactic system to be used clinically. |
