P. Gonçalves, C. Godart (auth.), Veljko Zlatic, Alex Hewson (eds.) 2013 | 273 Pages | ISBN: 940074983X | PDF | 6 MB Thermoelectric devices could play an important role in making efficient use of our energy resources but their efficiency would need to be increased for their wide scale application. There is a multidisciplinary search for materials with an enhanced thermoelectric responses for use in such devices. This volume covers the latest ideas and developments in this research field, covering topics ranging from the fabrication and characterization of new materials, particularly those with strong electron correlation, use of nanostructured, layered materials and composites, through to theoretical work to gain a deeper understanding of thermoelectric behavior. It should be a useful guide and stimulus to all working in this very topical field. ![]() Free Download New Developments in the Dynamics of Planetary Systems: Proceedings of the Fifth Alexander von Humboldt Colloquium on Celestial Mechanics held in Badhofgastein (Austria), 19-25 March 2000 By William H. Szenthe (eds.) 1996 | 437 Pages | ISBN: 9401065535 | PDF | 11 MB This volume contains thirty-six research articles presented at the Colloquium on Differential Geometry, which was held in Debrecen, Hungary, July 26-30, 1994. The conference was a continuation in the series of the Colloquia of the János Bolyai Society. The range covered reflects current activity in differential geometry. The main topics are Riemannian geometry, Finsler geometry, submanifold theory and applications to theoretical physics. Includes several interesting results by leading researchers in these fields: e.g. on non-commutative geometry, spin bordism groups, Cosserat continuum, field theories, second order differential equations, sprays, natural operators, higher order frame bundles, Sasakian and Kähler manifolds. Audience: This book will be valuable for researchers and postgraduate students whose work involves differential geometry, global analysis, analysis on manifolds, relativity and gravitation and electromagnetic theory. ![]() Free Download Marlon Lee Moncrieffe, "New Black Cyclones: Racism, Representation and Revolutions of Power in Cycling" English | ISBN: 139940556X | 2025 | 224 pages | PDF | 12 MB 'Cycling as never told before' - Nicholas Dlamini, South African cycling champion ![]() Free Download Neville Chamberlain: A Life from Beginning to End (World War 2 Biographies) by Hourly History English | October 20, 2024 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B0DKFCZK9S | 60 pages | EPUB | 1.40 Mb Discover the remarkable life of Neville Chamberlain... ![]() Free Download Neurosurgical Treatment of Central Nervous System Tumors English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031685776 | 558 Pages | PDF (True) | 96 MB In this book the most recent technical and technological advancements in the treatment of intracranial tumours will be described, and a wide and updated review of the literature on neurosurgical pathologies with high clinical impact will be offered to the readers. This requires developing an organisational efficiency to concisely relay relevant patient information to a suitably qualified person to execute a given task. A trainee can work extremely hard during an on call, making suitable decisions, implementing previous plans to perfection and covering slack in a team. But if the presentation of this work is unclear then it undoes a lot of that hard work and generates an impression of a trainee being disorganised. Success in a handover requires an understanding of whom you are talking to, what you are saying, how you are saying it and if the way you are communicating gains and maintains interest. Above all a handover should ensure the smooth continuity of care of a patient. ![]() Free Download Neurobiology: Ionic Channels, Neurons and the Brain By G. Bucossi, M. Nizzari, V. Torre (auth.), Vincent Torre, Franco Conti (eds.) 1996 | 393 Pages | ISBN: 1461377064 | PDF | 26 MB Understanding how the brain works is undoubtedly the greatest challenge for human intelligence and one of the most ambitious goals of contemporary science. We are certainly far from this goal, but significant advancements in several fields of Neuroscience and Neurobiology are being obtained at an increasing pace. The NATO ASI School in Neurobiology, held in Erice May 2-12,1995, as the 23rd Course of the International School of Biophysics, provided an update on three basic topics: Biophysics and Molecular Biology ofIon Channels, Sensory Transduction, and Higher Order Functions. Current knowledge on these subjects was covered by formal lectures and critical discussions between lecturers and participants. This book collects original contributions from those scientists who attended the School. Many students presented their results in poster sessions, steering lively informal discussions. A selection of these contributions is also included. A major portion of the program of the School was devoted to a general overview of current trends of thought and experimental approaches in neurobiology, emphasising the importance of understanding molecular aspects of the elementary events underlying sensory transduction and processing in the nervous system, without indulging however in a pure reductionistic view of such complex phenomena. Recent studies of molecular biology and the electrophysiology of heterologously expressed ionic channels, have shed new light on the molecular mechanisms underlying ionic permeation of excitable membranes and its regulation by physical and chemical parameters. ![]() Free Download Neural Development and Schizophrenia: Theory and Research By J. Meggin Hollister, Ricardo A. Machon, Sarnoff A. Mednick (auth.), Sarnoff A. Mednick, J. Meggin Hollister (eds.) 1995 | 262 Pages | ISBN: 1461358035 | PDF | 35 MB This is the third meeting we have organized which has explored the meaning of fetal neural developmental disruption in the etiology of schiwphrenia. The first was sponsored by the Schiwphrenia Research Branch with the scientific cooperation of Dr. David Shore. We met in Washington; the output of the meeting was published in a book entitled, Fetal Neural Development and Adult Schizophrenia. Cambridge University Press. 1991. The next meeting was an Advanced Research Workshop sponsored by NATO and was held at n Ciocco. Castelvecchio Pascoli. This meeting was reported in a NATO volume. Developmental Neuropathology of Schizophrenia and was edited by Mednick. Cannon. Barr and La Fosse. The current meeting has noted several advances in the field. There are additional psychiatric illnesses which have been found to be related to maternal viral infection in the second trimester. There have been studies reported which have definitely observed a viral infection in the mothers of fetuses who later evidenced schirophrenia. More evidence has been published which has replicated the "second-trimester effect." In the future studies will be wise to provide serological evidence of a viral infection and information on the precise viruses involved. Another important step will be to determine whether second-trimester maternal viral infection is related to a behavioral deficit in the infant. If neural development has been compromised. it might be possible to detect deficits in the infant with the proper measures. We look forward to future meetings at which these new areas might be explored. |
