Applications in Finance, Investments, and Banking
Free Download Applications in Finance, Investments, and Banking By Diem Ho (auth.), Diem Ho, Thomas Schneeweis (eds.)
1999 | 335 Pages | ISBN: 1441950621 | PDF | 8 MB
Technological, economic, and regulatory changes are some of the driving forces in the modern world of finance. For instance, financial markets now trade twenty-four hours a day and securities are increasingly being traded via real-time computer-based systems in contrast to trading floor-based systems. Equally important, new security forms and pricing models are coming into existence in response to changes in domestic and international regulatory action. Accounting and risk management systems now enable financial and investment firms to manage risk more efficiently while meeting regulatory concerns. The challenge for academics and practitioners alike is how to keep themselves, and others, current with these changing markets, as well as the technology and current investment and risk management tools. Applications in Finance, Investments, and Banking offers presentations by twelve leading investment professionals and academics on a wide range of finance, investment and banking issues. Chapters include analysis of the basic foundations of financial analysis, as well as current approaches to managing risk. Presentations also include reviews of the means of measuring the volatility of the underlying return process and how investment performance measurement can be used to better understand the benefits of active management. Finally, articles also present advances in the pricing of the new financial assets (e.g., swaps), as well as the understanding of the factors (e.g., earnings estimates) affecting pricing of the traditional assets (e.g., stocks). Applications in Finance, Investments, and Banking provides beneficial information to the understanding of both traditional and modern approaches of financial and investment management.

An Introduction to KMS Weights
Free Download An Introduction to KMS Weights
English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031756290 | 339 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 35 MB
This book provides an introduction to the theory of KMS weights and KMS states, which play an important role in mathematical physics and other applications of operator algebras. Leading from the definitions to some of the most recent research results, it covers advanced topics such as the Laca-Neshveyev theorem, elements of the modular theory of von Neumann algebras, the geometry of the set of KMS weights, duality (for KMS weights on crossed products), the relationship between KMS weights and traces and the types of factors associated with extremal KMS weights. Some of the material is new, in the sense that the proofs and results are published here for the first time. This relatively self-contained book will be useful both to researchers in the area of operator algebras and to more advanced students who wish to enter this field.

American Exceptionalism Reconsidered U.S. Foreign Policy, Human Rights, And World Order
Free Download Patrice C. McMahon, David P. Forsythe, Shareen Hertel, "American Exceptionalism Reconsidered: U.S. Foreign Policy, Human Rights, And World Order"
English | 2016 | pages: 173 | ISBN: 1138956791 | PDF | 3,0 mb
Is the US really exceptional in terms of its willingness to take universal human rights seriously? According to the rhetoric of American political leaders, the United States has a unique and lasting commitment to human rights principles and to a liberal world order centered on rule of law and human dignity. But when push comes to shove―most recently in Libya and Syria-the United States failed to stop atrocities and dithered as disorder spread in both places. This book takes on the myths surrounding US foreign policy and the future of world order. Weighing impulses toward parochial nationalism against the ideal of cosmopolitan internationalism, the authors posit that what may be emerging is a new brand of American globalism, or a foreign policy that gives primacy to national self-interest but does so with considerable interest in and genuine attention to universal human rights and a willingness to suffer and pay for those outside its borders―at least on occasion. The occasions of exception―such as Libya and Syria―provide case studies for critical analysis and allow the authors to look to emerging dominant powers, especially China, for indicators of new challenges to the commitment to universal human rights and humanitarian affairs in the context of the ongoing clash between liberalism and realism.
