Free Download Nationalism as a Way of Life: The Rise and Transformation of Modern Subjectivities
English | 2025 | ISBN: 100957020X | 369 Pages | PDF | 2 MB
While nationalism is a term that is often associated with instability, violence, extremism, terrorism, wars and even genocide, in fact most forms of nationalism are nonviolent. Beyond politics, it is a set of discourses and practices that shape economic, social, legal, and cultural life all over the globe. This book explores the global rise and transformation of nationalism and analyses the organisational, ideological, and micro-interactional mechanisms that have made it the dominant way of life in the twenty-first century. In a series of case studies across time and space, the book zooms in on three key forms of lived experience: how nationalism operates as a multi-faceted meta-ideology, how national categories have become organisationally embedded in everyday practices and why nationalism has become the dominant form of modern subjectivity. The book is aimed at readers interested in understanding how nation-states and nationalisms have attained such influence in contemporary world.

Free Download Nationalism and the Transformation of the State: Border Change and Political Violence in the Modern World
English | 2025 | ISBN: 1009527797 | 394 Pages | PDF | 30 MB
Following Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014, the recent conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East signals the return of geopolitics. This book challenges conventional approaches that ignore border change, arguing that geopolitics is driven by nationalism and focusing on how nationalism transforms the state. Using geocoded historical maps covering state borders and ethnic groups in Europe, the authors' spatial approach shows how, since the French Revolution, nationalism has caused increasing congruence between state and national borders and how a lack of congruence increased the risk of armed conflict. This macroprocess is traced from early modern Europe and widens the geographic scope to the entire world in the mid-twentieth century. The analysis shows that the risk of conflict may be increased by how nationalists seeking to revive past golden ages and restore their nations' prestige respond to incongruent borders. This title is also available as Open Access on Cambridge Core.

Free Download Nanosensors: Improving Disease Prevention, Detection, And Treatment
English | 2026 | ISBN: 9819818249 | 262 Pages | PDF (True) | 5 MB
This book will represent one of the first to cover the fundamental and applied aspects of nano sensors in healthcare. It will focus on specific diseases, present real clinical data and case studies, and highlight future areas of research needed to commercialize such devices. It will cover the design, fabrication, and use of nanosensors in numerous medical applications.Sensors have already revolutionized numerous fields from automobiles to alternative energy to consumer goods. However, they have only just started to impact medicine. Thought leaders around the world are predicting how nanosensors will revolutionize medicine. From wearables to implantables, sensors can prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases without requiring hospital or doctor visits.Sensors also represent improved healthcare as they can intervene in disease progression earlier than conventional medicine and can incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI), learning how to improve patient health with every treatment. They can also be used anywhere in the world, thus, reducing global healthcare disparities. Nanomaterials are a crucial part of sensor design and fabrication as they are small, light weight and have improved properties such as a greater ability to detect biomolecules and electrical properties for sensing.
