The discovery in 1989 of a mammoth tusk in river gravels at Stanton Harcourt, Oxfordshire, revealed the very different ancient past of this landscape. Here, some 200,000 years ago, mammoths, straight-tusked elephants, lions, and other animals roamed across grasslands with scattered trees, occasionally disturbed by small bands of Neanderthals. The pit where the tusk was discovered, destined to become a waste disposal site, provided a rare opportunity to conduct intensive excavations that extended over a period of 10 years. This work resulted in the recording and recovery of more than 1500 vertebrate fossils and an abundance of other biological material, including insects, molluscs, and plant remains, together with 36 stone artefacts attributable to Neanderthals. The well-preserved plant remains include leaves, nuts, twigs and large oak logs. Vertebrate remains notably include the most comprehensive known assemblage of a distinctive small form of the steppe mammoth, Mammuthus trogontherii, that is characteristic of an interglacial period equated with marine isotope stage 7 (MIS 7). Richly illustrated throughout, Mammoths and Neanderthals in the Thames Valley offers a detailed account of all these finds and will be of interest to Quaternary specialists and students alike. ![]() Free Download Mama Bell's Big Family Cooking: 100+ Big-Batch Homestyle Recipes Your Family Is Gonna Love! by Heather Bell English | October 22nd, 2024 | ISBN: 1507222610 | 256 pages | True EPUB | 280.88 MB Dig in to comforting and delicious big-batch recipes the whole family will love from social media star Heather Bell a.k.a. Since each malunion can be fairly specific, the treatment regimens provide guidelines to effectively approach such problems. Opening with a brief overview of the principles of malunions, the remainder of the book is divided by anatomical area and provides evidence-based recommendations, case examples, and preferred treatment/algorithms for both the upper and lower extremities, including the clavicle, proximal and distal humerus, hand and wrist, proximal and distal femur, and tibia and ankle, as well as the pelvis and acetabulum. Specialized circumstances are also discussed, including periprosthetics and joint replacement. ![]() Free Download Charles A. Davis, "Making Disciples Across Cultures: Missional Principles for a Diverse World" English | 2015 | ISBN: 083083690X | EPUB | pages: 236 | 1.9 mb Culture affects how we make disciples. We often unconsciously bring our own cultural assumptions into ministry and mission, not realizing that how we think and operate is not necessarily the best or only way to do things. In today's global environment, disciplemaking requires the cultural humility and flexibility to adapt between different cultural approaches.Charles Davis, former director of TEAM, provides a framework for missional disciplemaking across diverse cultural contexts. He shows how we can recalibrate our ministry efforts, like adjusting sound levels on a mixer board, to accommodate different cultural assumptions. With on-the-ground stories from a lifetime of mission experience, Davis navigates such tensions as knowledge and behavior, individualism and collectivism, and truth and works to help Christian workers minister more effectively.Ministry teams, church planters, pastors and missionaries working interculturally at home or overseas can be part of God's movement of making disciples. Discover how the body of Christ grows in the unity and diversity of the global church. ![]() Free Download Make Room for Healing: 40 Tips from a Breast Cancer Survivor by Travis Brady English | October 15th, 2024 | ISBN: 1401977413 | 176 pages | True EPUB | 4.20 MB Accessible, heartfelt, and witty, this short collection of simple, practical tips offers self-care, healing, and recovery, from a stage-3 breast cancer survivor. ![]() Free Download Roberto de Luca, "Magnetic Properties of Josephson Junction Networks: An Introduction" English | ISBN: 9811209251 | 2020 | 432 pages | PDF | 17 MB The study of the magnetic response of Josephson junction networks can be useful in outlining the behaviour of existing superconducting electronic devices, in conceiving new types of magnetic sensors, and in describing the low-field magnetic properties of granular superconductors. In the present work a wide introduction to Josephson junction networks is provided. The Josephson equations are introduced by means of Ohta's semi-classical model and a simple description of the magnetic response of multiply connected superconductors is given. The analysis of the magnetic response of Josephson junction networks is gradually built up from simple interferometers to three-dimensional lattices of superconducting devices. The analytic description of these systems may be applied when fabricating ultrasensitive vectorial magnetic field sensors and interpreting the low-field magnetic properties of superconducting granular systems. ![]() Free Download Abu Shahid Abdullah MD, "Magical Feminism in the Americas: Resisting Female Marginalisation and Oppression through Magic " English | ASIN : B0DGQT7QHP | 2024 | 194 pages | PDF | 2 MB The book aims to show the way magical feminism resists female marginalisation and oppression in the Americas. Dealing with multiple victimisation of women in the Americas who have suffered not only because of their gender but also their race, ethnicity, political ideology, social status, financial insecurity and such, magical feminism provides a voice to them so that they can speak about their marginalisation and victimisation. In other words, by using magical feminism, these female authors attempt to give a voice to the oppressed women, enabling them to resist and challenge the traditional female role and to raise their voices against various social and political issues. The subversive and transgressive power of magical feminism enables the oppressed women to break patriarchal constraints and to reverse the traditional power structure. By creating an imaginary realm through traditions, local beliefs and rituals, myth, magic and the spirits of the dead ancestors as guides, magical feminist technique functions as a survival strategy for women in traumatic and oppressive situations and provides them consolation. The project includes a total of eight novels from African American (Gloria Naylor's 'Mama Day'), Latin American (Isabel Allende's 'The House of the Spirits'), Native American (Louise Erdrich's 'Tracks'), Chicana (Ana Castillo's 'So Far from God'), North American (Gail Anderson-Dargatz's 'The Cure for Death by Lightning'), Central American (Gioconda Belli's 'The Inhabited Woman'), Hawaiian American (Kiana Davenport's 'Shark Dialogues') and Cuban American (Cristina García's 'Dreaming in Cuban') background. ![]() Free Download Madrid: A New Biography by Luke Stegemann English | August 27th, 2024 | ISBN: 0300276338 | 480 pages | True EPUB | 10.85 MB The miraculous story of Madridâ€"how a village became a great world city ![]() Free Download Madame Vo: Vietnamese Home Cooking from the New York Restaurant by Jimmy Ly, Dan Q.
