Discrete–Valued Time Series
Free Download Discrete-Valued Time Series by Christian H. Weiss
English | PDF | 2024 | 224 Pages | ISBN : 372580477X | 4.7 MB
The analysis and modeling of time series has been an active research area for more than 100 years, with the main focus on time series having a continuous range consisting of real numbers or real vectors. It took until the 1980s for the first papers on discrete-valued time series to appear. In the 2000s, a rapid increase in research activity was noted, but only in the last few years was a certain maturity and consolidation of the area of discrete-valued time series observed. This reprint is a collection of articles on a wide range of topics on discrete-valued time series (especially count time series), covering stochastic models and methods for their analysis, univariate and multivariate time series, applications of time series methods to risk analysis, statistical process control, and many more. The proposed approaches and concepts are thoroughly discussed and illustrated with several real-world data examples.

Discovering the Ocean from Space The unique applications of satellite oceanography (2024)
Free Download Ian S. Robinson, "Discovering the Ocean from Space: The unique applications of satellite oceanography"
English | 2010 | pages: 678 | ISBN: 3662500019, 3540244301 | PDF | 38,7 mb
Althoughthisisacompanion volume tomypreviousbook Measuring the Oceans from Space, published in 2004, it approaches the subject from a di?erent angle by providing abroad-ranging introductionandreviewoftheapplicationsofsatelliteremotesensing across the ?eld of oceanography. During the ?ve years it has taken to prepare this book what has motivated me is the attraction of the subject itself. In searching the scienti?c literature I have been excited by the interesting, new, and important elements of satellite oceanography being discovered around the world. I hope this book will help others to discover for themselves how sensors in space are giving us a new perspective of oceanographic phenomena and are increasingly enabling ocean science to serve the needs of modern civilization. Primarily I have written with postgraduate and senior undergraduate students in mind. Readers of my previous book will know that it aimed to present a systematic explanation of the diverse methods of satellite oceanography, the breadth of scienti?c knowledge, and the richness of innovative technology developed over 30 years since the ?rst dedicated ocean satellite was ?own in 1978. But satellite oceanography is too important a subject to treat just as a specialist topic for those with an interest in observational instrumentation and data-processing techniques. In recent years the availability of high-quality, processed satellite data has delivered remarkable and inspiring images of the ocean, which can almost tell their own stories.

Discover the Holy Land A Travel Guide to Israel and Jordan
Free Download Max Miller, "Discover the Holy Land: A Travel Guide to Israel and Jordan"
English | ISBN: 1532660316 | 2020 | 222 pages | EPUB | 150 MB
This travel guide focuses on places that Holy Land tour groups typically visit and gives major attention to connections between the Bible and the land. The Holy Land is understood to overlap both present-day Israel and Jordan, so places like Gilead, Mount Nebo, Bethany-beyond-the-Jordan, and Petra are included. And while the biblical periods and biblical connections remain in the forefront, these are explored in the context of the Holy Land's long and fascinating history. Ancient "tells" dating back to the Bronze Age, colonnaded streets and temples from Hellenistic and Roman times, early Christian pilgrimage destinations, Crusader castles, Mamluk and Ottoman fortifications-all illustrated with chronological charts, maps, site plans, and photographs.

Discipuli dona ferentes Glimpses of Byzantium in Honour of Marlia Mundell Mango
Free Download Discipuli dona ferentes: Glimpses of Byzantium in Honour of Marlia Mundell Mango By Tassos Papacostas; Maria Parani
2017 | 518 Pages | ISBN: 2503575854 | PDF | 5 MB
In recognition and celebration of the achievements of Marlia (Maria Cordelia) Mundell Mango as a researcher and as a teacher, twelve of her doctoral students offer her this volume of collected essays, showcasing recent research in Byzantine archaeology and material culture studies. The essays are divided into three sections. The first comprises studies on Byzantine economy, shipping, road networks, production and trade from Late Antiquity down to the time of the Crusades. The studies in the second part discuss facets of the material culture and the lifestyle especially of the upper social strata in the Byzantine Empire, while those of the final section explore aspects of artistic creativity in the lands of the empire. Taken together, these diverse studies offer 'glimpses' into the Byzantine economy and trade, lifestyle and religion, ideology and identity, artistic creativity and its impact beyond the Byzantine frontier, illustrating a variety of methodological approaches and pointing towards new directions for future research. Their wide chronological, geographic and thematic coverage is in itself a tribute to Marlia Mango's breadth of knowledge and a reflection of her far-ranging research interests.

Disasters in the Philippines Before and After Haiyan
Free Download Glenda Tibe Bonifacio, "Disasters in the Philippines: Before and After Haiyan"
English | ISBN: 1529222907 | 2023 | 382 pages | PDF | 34 MB
Bringing together the voices of local scholars in the Philippines, this book offers critical insights into one of the world's most disaster-prone regions. The Asia-Pacific region is one of the most vulnerable regions in the world, with the effects of climate change contributing to rising sea levels and increasingly frequent typhoons and floods. Case studies in this book examine such disasters, including the aftermath of 2013 super typhoon Haiyan. Discussions are centered around four themes: women and empowerment, economics and recovery, community and resilience, and religion and spirituality. Through its analysis, the book demonstrates the scopes, inequities, and inefficiencies of policies and responses, as well as forms of empowerment and resilience, in meeting challenges in disaster-afflicted communities in the Philippines. Its conclusions provide a more nuanced and grounded perspective of policies, practices, and approaches in the sociology of disasters today.

Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Multidisciplinary Perspectives and Approaches in the Indian Context
Free Download Disaster Management and Risk Reduction: Multidisciplinary Perspectives and Approaches in the Indian Context: Proceedings of NERC 2022 by Sudip Mitra, Kaustubh Dasgupta, Arindam Dey, Rajshree Bedamatta
English | PDF (True) | 2023 | 356 Pages | ISBN : 981996394X | 13.6 MB
This book presents select proceedings of North-East Research Conclave (NERC 2022) that will help pave way toward disaster risk reduction through a holistic and multidisciplinary approach. The book discusses topics, such as rapid pace of climate change, its deleterious effects on nature and natural systems, human interventions in altering the natural geographical and geological systems, widespread urbanization, recurrent unwarranted rainfall and cloud bursts, unprecedented flooding, catastrophic landslides, dam breakages, glacial outbursts, snow avalanches, seismicity and its impacts, liquefaction, and wreaking environmental pollution leading to unimaginable toll on lives, property and economy. The book also discusses approaches to address such issues and frame a refined path towards a sustainable future, such as a three-fold approach like - Awareness, Inferences and Implementations. For this approach, it is ardently necessary to understand the core reasoning behind the disasters, their impact on the socio-economic contexts, and the ways to mitigate them. The book can be a valuable reference for beginners, researchers, and professionals interested in disaster risk reduction and allied fields.
