One hundred forty thousand years ago, some of these modern humans migrated to the Great Rift Valley and Ethiopia, where almost all non-African people living today originated. More than seventy thousand years ago, some of their descendants moved across the Red Sea to the Arabian Peninsula, where 90 percent of the world's existing non-African population originated. Many thousands of years later, some of these hunter-gatherers moved north. Because of climate change, their black skin changed to the olive brown of the Middle East, and some of them later migrated to the Caucasus and the Southern Eurasian Steppe grasslands. A few went east to Siberia and Northern Asia and eventually to the Americas, mutations changing their bodily features as they went. Others moved east and south, to India and Australasia. Forty thousand years ago, after moving farther north to the vast colder Northern Eurasian Steppes, mutations again took place, with the people adapting to the climate by changing their hair, skin, and eye color to a lighter hue. My own paternal haplogroup eventually moved west from the Eurasian Steppes to the fjords of Norway, becoming Viking warriors who raided the British Isles. They eventually settled here in the eleventh century with the family name Manningham, changing to Glover in the seventeenth century. My maternal ancestors moved from being some of the first farmers in Anatolia to become the Anglo-Saxons in North West Europe who invaded and settled in South East England over 1,400 years ago. Over the centuries, some members of these families settled in the United States of America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, helping to build these new countries to what they are today. Some towns and cities are named after them. If you are a member of one of these now-very-wide families or simply interested in the early history of mankind, I hope you will find this little book of interest. -Richard Donovan Glover ![]() Free Download Tracer Kinetics in Biomedical Research: From Data to Model by Claudio Cobelli , David Foster , Gianna Toffolo English | PDF | 2002 | 455 Pages | ISBN : 0306464276 | 46.2 MB The use of mathematical modeling techniques in biomedical research is playing an increasingly important role in the understanding of the pathophysiology of disease processes. This includes not only understanding mechanisms of physiological processes, but also diagnosis and treatment. In addition, its introduction in the study of genomics and proteomics is key in understanding the functional characteristics of gene expression and protein assembly and secretion. ![]() Free Download Toxic: Heal Your Body from Mold Toxicity, Lyme Disease, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, and Chronic Environmental Illness by Neil Nathan English | October 9th, 2018 | ISBN: 1628603119 | 336 pages | True EPUB | 6.50 MB Millions of people are suffering from chronic illnesses that, unbeknownst to them, are the result of exposure to environmental toxins and infectious agents such as mold and Borrelia, which causes Lyme disease. Millions. Because the symptoms of these illnesses are so varied and unusual, many of these individuals have sought medical care only to be dismissed, as if what they are experiencing is "in their head." Many (if not most) have tried to tough it out and continue to function without hope of improvement. Unfortunately, their illnesses are very real. ![]() Free Download Towards a Hybrid, Flexible and Socially Engaged Higher Education: Proceedings of the 26th International Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning (ICL2023), Volume 4 by Michael E. Auer, Uriel R. Cukierman, Eduardo Vendrell Vidal, Edmundo Tovar Caro English | PDF (True) | 2024 | 541 Pages | ISBN : 303153381X | 31.6 MB We are currently witnessing a significant transformation in the development of education on all levels and especially in post-secondary education. To face these challenges, higher education must find innovative and effective ways to respond in a proper way. The pandemic period left us with profound changes in the way we teach and learn, including the massive use of new means of communication, such as videoconferencing and other technological tools. Moreover, the current explosion of artificial intelligence tools, mainly used by students, is challenging teaching practices maintained for centuries. Scientifically based statements as well as excellent best practice examples are absolutely necessary. The 26th International Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning (ICL2023), which will take place in Madrid, Spain, between 26th and 30th September 2023, will be the perfect place where to present and discuss current trends in Higher Education. ![]() Free Download Murat A. Yülek, "Towards Third Generation Learning and Teaching: Contours of the New Learning" English | ISBN: 1839984600 | 2022 | 278 pages | PDF | 5 MB Descartes has said he is because he thinks. Perhaps we should say: we are because we learn. Learning is an essential human characteristic, look at children who self-learn empirically. In our times we are privileged to have special learning institutions while learning has become a hallmark of civilization. Teachers are among the key contributors to our society, but will they work the same as in the last millennia? Right now, just about everything in learning and teaching is changing. Traditional methods are replaced by newer ones and there is a host of new learning "technologies." It is of foremost importance that societies adapt to this and that is why this book has been created. Thoughts and experiences of the brightest minds of today offer an overview of what is going on and where we are heading. ![]() Free Download Zenda Ofir, "Towards Impact and Resilience: Transformative Change in and Through Agricultural Education and Training in Sub-saharan A" English | ISBN: 1443856800 | 2014 | 550 pages | PDF | 4 MB This book, consisting of 17 chapters, focuses on clarifying the challenges, issues, and priorities of Agricultural Education and Training (AET) in sub-Saharan Africa, and provides suggestions for practical solutions that can help guide organisations interested in furthering AET for agricultural development on the continent. It discusses the African context within which a transformed AET system needs to be located; analyses African and international experiences that are relevant to identified AET needs and challenges; dissects AET models that may hold important lessons; and addresses the main critical issues that will impact upon AET in sub-Saharan Africa. The concluding chapter synthesises the ideas, experiences, and evidence from the preceding chapters in order to highlight critical issues for success as well as possible solutions. The book is uniquely positioned to add to a call to action on AET, to pull together state-of-the-art knowledge from within and outside sub-Saharan Africa, and to advance "out of the box" thinking about the principles, values and character of AET for development, with an emphasis on the models that can help to cultivate leaders and change-makers at all levels of the agricultural sector. ![]() Free Download Ramjee Prasad, "Towards Green ICT " English | ISBN: 8792329349 | 2010 | 392 pages | PDF | 6 MB ICT is playing an increasingly important role in both business and individual's private life. It has increased international interconnectedness and speed up the process of globalization. But on the other side the total energy consumption by the communication and networking devices and the relevant global CO emission is increasing exponentially. ICT has, in many ways, a vital role to play. It accounts for about two percent of global CO emissions. Telecommunications applications can have a direct, tangible impact on lowering greenhouse gas emissions, power consumption, and achieve efficient recycling of equipment waste. This book is the outcome of the special session on Green Communications at 'The 12th International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications' (WPMC) held in September '09 in Sendai, Japan. To the best of the editors' knowledge this is the first book on the Green Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and can be considered a milestone and a key-tool aimed at driving the industrial, scientific and academic efforts of the international community to guarantee a greener future to the whole planet. ![]() Free Download Toward Good Simulation Practice: Best Practices for the Use of Computational Modelling and Simulation in the Regulatory Process of Biomedical Products by Marco Viceconti, Luca Emili English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 153 Pages | ISBN : 3031482832 | 5.8 MB This book, the Community of Practice led by the VPH Institute, the Avicenna Alliance, and the In Silico World consortium has brought together 138 experts in In Silico Trials working in academia, the medical industry, regulatory bodies, hospitals, and consulting firms.
