The Mind–Brain Continuum Psychoneurointracrinology
Free Download The Mind-Brain Continuum: Psychoneurointracrinology by Susan Gordon
English | January 2, 2023 | ISBN: 3031100581 | 223 pages | MOBI | 3.76 Mb
This insightful book proposes a holistic theory of the development of self, drawing on interdisciplinary literature in existential-phenomenology, neurophenomenology, intracrinology, endocrinology, and naturopathic medicine. The psychoneurointracrine hypothesis bridges the gap between the mind and brain, providing a framework to explain the complex system that facilitates development of one's sense of self and well-being. The book challenges assumptions in present day neuroscience and psychiatry, placing the mind and brain on a continuum of health and growth rather than reducing the study of human consciousness to neurobiological terms and pathological classifications. Professionals and students in psychiatry and psychological medicine will find this book a practical reference, while a broad interdisciplinary audience across the sciences and humanities will find it a unique and accessible perspective on cognition and the self.

The Middle Way The Emergence of Modern–Religious Trends in Nineteenth–Century Judaism Responses to Modernity in the Phi
Free Download Ephraim Chamiel, "The Middle Way: The Emergence of Modern-Religious Trends in Nineteenth-Century Judaism Responses to Modernity in the Phi"
English | ISBN: 1618114077 | 2014 | 534 pages | PDF | 2 MB
This book in two volumes is devoted to examining the first encounter between traditional Judaism and modern European culture, and the first thinkers who sought to combine the Torah with science, revelation with reason, prophecy with philosophy, Jewish ethics with European culture, worldliness with sanctity, and universalism with the particular redemption of the Jews. These religious thinkers of the nineteenth century struggled with challenges of the modern age that continue to confront the modern Jews to this day. This objective work of scholarship, neither simplistic and isolationist nor destructive and arrogant, will be of interest to the modern thinker and to scholars of the history of religions. It is relevant to comparative study between Judaism and the various denominations of Christianity and other faiths that seek to find a middle way between their traditions and modernity.

The Metaphysics of Michael Polanyi Toward a Post–Critical Platonism
Free Download Martin E. Turkis II, "The Metaphysics of Michael Polanyi: Toward a Post-Critical Platonism"
English | ISBN: 3031412109 | 2024 | 276 pages | EPUB, PDF | 500 KB + 4 MB
This book tells the story of how the Platonic vision of Michael Polanyi - the Hungarian-British chemist and philosopher - bridges the gap between speculative metaphysics and scientific practice, thus making sense of the broad swathe of human experience in a phenomenologically satisfying fashion. The central proposal is that Polanyi is a Platonist due to his affirmation of the ontological status of abstract objects, with particular focus placed on the question of uninstantiated universals. The book engages contemporary, speculative realists from both continental and analytic traditions as it introduces Polanyi's influential epistemology and unpacks the fascinating metaphysics implied thereby. It then proceeds to develop Polanyi's rather unsystematic metaphysics into a coherent, post-critical Platonism which incorporates his well-known theory of tacit knowledge, thus achieving something akin to the ancient Neoplatonic synthesis of Plato and Aristotle in our contemporary, scientific context.
