Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange, "Thomistic Common Sense: The Philosophy of Being and the Development of Doctrine" English | ISBN: 1645851079 | 2021 | 352 pages | EPUB | 975 KB Despite living in an "information age," we are confronted by the clash of ideologies and a crisis of universal knowledge. The Church is not unaffected by the world's weariness and similarly faces what Fr. Mauro Gagliardi describes as "the lack of truth, or perhaps better, the disinterest in it." Today's philosophical and doctrinal decline are the results of the loss of first principles and a relativistic view of doctrinal development. ![]() Free Download Roger Nutt and Michael Dauphinais (Editors), "Thomas Aquinas, Biblical Theologian" English | ISBN: 1645850374 | 2021 | 264 pages | EPUB | 2 MB In the past eight-hundred years, it is possible that no other theologian has shaped our understanding of God, man, and the Church more than St. Thomas Aquinas. While many people are familiar with his most famous work, the Summa Theologiae, fewer know of his important role as a biblical theologian. But in fact, Aquinas' primary work was biblical theology. His biblical commentaries remain invaluable in the ongoing work of Scripture study. ![]() Close Free Download Thermal Stress Resistance of Materials by Anatoly Lanin , Ivan Fedik English | PDF | 2008 | 246 Pages | ISBN : 3540713999 | 11.4 MB ![]() Free Download The Urban Enigma: Time, Autonomy, and Postcolonial Transformations in Latin America by Simone Vegliò English | 2020 | ISBN: 1786613883 | 198 Pages | PDF/ePUB (True) | 6.8 MB ![]() Free Download Jennifer D. That decision initiated a process of complex negotiations aimed at making the arrangements required for an "orderly Brexit". The UK's Withdrawal from the EU explores the UK's departure from the EU from a legal perspective: Michael Dougan provides a critical analysis of the final EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement, including explorations of the future protection of citizens' rights, the border between Ireland and Northern Ireland, and the prospects for future EU-UK relations in fields such as trade and security. These explorations also include an analysis of the primary problems that arose during the Brexit negotiation process and various constitutional principles relevant to EU withdrawal law. ![]() Free Download The Power of Modern Value Investing: Beyond Indexing, Algos, and Alpha English | 2024 | ISBN: 3031458990 | 284 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 10 MB The stock market is a wild and scary roller coaster ride that investors have tried to tame with superficially appealing but ultimately flawed strategies-technical analysis, modern portfolio theory, CAPM, factor models, and algos. Rossing English | PDF | 1991 | 629 Pages | ISBN : 0387941517 | 51.8 MB The history of musical instruments is nearly as old as the history of civilization itself, and the aesthetic principles upon which judgments of musical quality are based are intimately connected with the whole culture within which the instruments have evolved. An educated modem Western player or listener can make critical judgments about particular instruments or particular per formances but, to be valid, those judgments must be made within the appro priate cultural context. The compass of our book is much less sweeping than the first paragraph might imply, and indeed our discussion is primarily confined to Western musical instruments in current use, but even here we must take account of centuries of tradition. A musical instrument is designed and built for the playing of music of a particular type and, conversely, music is written to be performed on particular instruments. There is no such thing as an "ideal" instrument, even in concept, and indeed the unbounded possibilities of modem digital sound-synthesis really require the composer or performer to define a whole set of instruments if the result is to have any musical coherence. Thus, for example, the sound and response of a violin are judged against a mental image of a perfect violin built up from experience of violins playing music written for them over the centuries. A new instrument may be richer in sound quality and superior in responsiveness, but if it does not fit that image then it is not a better violin. ![]() Free Download Adam J. Graves, "The Phenomenology of Revelation in Heidegger, Marion, and Ricoeur " English | ISBN: 1793640572 | 2021 | 256 pages | EPUB | 5 MB The Phenomenology of Revelation in Heidegger, Marion, and Ricoeur provides a critical framework for understanding the phenomenology of revelation through a series of close readings that serve as the basis for an imagined dialogue between Martin Heidegger, Jean-Luc Marion, and Paul Ricoeur. Adam J. Graves distinguishes between two dominant approaches to revelation: a "radical" approach that seeks to disclose a pre-linguistic experience of revelation through a radicalization of the phenomenological reduction, and a "hermeneutical" one that characterizes revelation as an eruption of meaning arising from our encounter with concrete symbols, narratives, and texts. According to Graves, the radical approach is often driven by a misplaced concern for maintaining philosophical rigor and for avoiding theological biases, or "contaminations." This preoccupation leads to a process of "counter-contamination" in which the concept of revelation is ultimately estranged from the phenomenon's rich historical and linguistic content. While Ricoeur's hermeneutic phenomenology may do a better job of accommodating the concrete content of revelation, it does so at the price of having to renouncing the kind of "presuppositionlessness" generally associated with phenomenological method. Ultimately, Graves argues that a more nuanced appreciation of the complex nature of our linguistic inheritance enables us to reconceive the relationship between revelation and philosophical thought. |
