Human Chromosomes Structure, Behavior, and Effects
Free Download Human Chromosomes: Structure, Behavior, and Effects by Eeva Therman , Millard Susman
English | PDF | 1993 | 392 Pages | ISBN : 0387978712 | 38.2 MB
This book, like the two previous editions, was written as an introduction to human cytogenetics, but it could also be used as a text for a general cytogenetics course, since chromosome structure and behavior are similar in all eukaryotes. Many examples in this book are from organisms other than humans, reflecting our combined backgrounds of molecular and bacterial genetics, and plant and animal cytogenetics. In the rapidly expanding field of human cytogenetics, certain subjects, for instance clinical and cancer cytogenetics, are now covered in recently published, thousand-page volumes. In this book, such subjects are presented only in outline. The enormous growth of information has also made the choice of topics and of examples to illustrate them even more arbitrary and subjective than in the previous editions. Apart from a few pages here and there, the text has been rewritten. Major parts, especially those on molecular matters, have been added. This book would not exist without the dedicated participation of Mrs. Barbara Susman. She has been involved in the project from the planning stages to the final proofreading. She has done the extensive literature research, designed most of the tables and illustrations, and edited and typed the text. For discussions and suggestions we are indebted to many colleagues. We wish especially to mention Drs. Lassi Alvesalo, Evelyn M. Kuhn, and Renata Laxova, who have critically read selected parts of the book, and Dr. Carter Denniston, who has read the whole text.

Hop Integrity in the Internet
Free Download Hop Integrity in the Internet by Chin-Tser Huang , Mohamed G. Gouda
English | PDF | 2006 | 121 Pages | ISBN : 0387244263 | 5.1 MB
Hop Integrity in the Internet introduces a new security defense, hop integrity, that can be used against denial-of-service attacks in the Internet. If a message that is part of a denial-of-service attack is originated by an adversarial host in the Internet and if the message header includes a wrong address for the originating host (in order to hide the true source of the attack), then the message will be classified as modified or replayed and will be discarded by the first router that receives the message in the Internet.

History of Stroke
Free Download History of Stroke by Julien Bogousslavsky , Maurizio Paciaroni , Michael G. Hennerici and Laurent Tatu
English | PDF | 2024 | 162 Pages | ISBN : 3036523146 | 20.2 MB
Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability and death worldwide. It has become the first disease leading to neurologic referrals to hospital and, while recognized in medicine since antiquity, stroke did not acquire a proper place within neurology until the second part of the 20th century. The main reason for this is that, because it deals with blood vessels and circulation, neurologists themselves did not want to include stroke as a primary disorder of the nervous system. However, this is one of the many reasons the historical development of stroke and cerebrovascular disease is of unique interest; it touches not only on neurology but also on internal medicine, angiology, cardiology, rehabilitation, and psychiatry within the frame of secondary behavioral and personality changes after stroke. For the same reasons, the study of the developments in the field of stroke over time is an excellent mirror of historical developments in medicine in general, encompassing many different domains.

Geoinformatik Modelle Strukturen Funktionen
Free Download Geoinformatik: Modelle * Strukturen * Funktionen By Professor Dr. Norbert Bartelme (auth.)
2005 | 454 Pages | ISBN: 3540202544 | PDF | 7 MB

Fuzzy Set Theory – and Its Applications
Free Download Fuzzy Set Theory - and Its Applications by H.-J. Zimmermann
English | PDF | 1985 | 366 Pages | ISBN : 9401571554 | 11.6 MB
Since its inception 20 years ago the theory of fuzzy sets has advanced in a variety of ways and in many disciplines. Applications of this theory can be found in artificial intelligence, computer science, control engineering, decision theory, expert systems, logic, management science, operations research, pattern recognition, robotics and others. Theoretical advances have been made in many directions. In fact it seems extremely difficult for a newcomer to the field or for somebody who wants to apply fuzzy set theory to his problems to recognize properly the present "state of the art." Therefore, many applications use fuzzy set theory on a much more elementary level than appropriate and necessary. On the other hand, theoretical publications are already so specialized and assume such a background in fuzzy set theory that they are hard to understand. The more than 4,000 publications that exist in the field are widely scattered over many areas and in many journals. Existing books are edited volumes containing specialized contributions or monographs that only focus on specific areas of fuzzy sets, such as pattern recognition ezdek 1981, switching functions [Kandel, Lee 1979], or decision making [Kickert 1978]. Even the excellent survey book by Dubois and Prade [1980] is primarily intended as a research compendium for insiders rather than an introduction to fuzzy set theory or a textbook. This lack of a compre- hensive and modern text is particularly recognized by newcomers to the field and by those who want to teach fuzzy set theory and its applications.

Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence An Advanced Course
Free Download Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence: An Advanced Course by W. Bibel , A. W. Biermann , J. P. Delgrande , G. Huet , Ph. Jorrand , J. Mylopoulos , E. Shapiro , M. E. Stickel
English | PDF | 1987 | 315 Pages | ISBN : 3662391570 | 36.8 MB
This volume contains the elaborated and harmonized versions of seven lectures given at the first Advanced Course in Artificial Intelligence, held in Vignieu, France, in July 1985. Most of them were written in tutorial form; the book thus provides an extremely valuable guide to the fundamental aspects of AI. In the first part, Delgrande and Mylopoulos discuss the concept of knowledge and its representation. The second part is devoted to the processing of knowledge. The contribution by Huet shows that both computation and inference or deduction are just different aspects of the same phenomenon. The chapter written by Stickel gives a thorough and knowledgeable introduction to the most important aspects of deduction by some form of resolution. The kind of reasoning that is involved in inductive inference problem solving (or programming) from examples, and in learning, is covered by Biermann. The tutorial by Bibel covers the more important forms of knowledge processing that might play a significant role in common sense reasoning. The third part of the book focuses on logic programming and functional programming. Jorrand presents the language FP2, where term rewriting forms the basis for the semantics of both functional and parallel programming. In the last chapter, Shapiro gives an overview of the current state of concurrent PROLOG.
