Columbo, played by Peter Falk, as he unravels clues to catch killers who believe they are above the law. In her investigation of the 1970s series cocreated by Richard Levinson and William Link, Amelie Hastie explores television history through an emphasis on issues of stardom, authorship, and its interconnections with classical and New Hollywood cinema. Through close textual analysis, attentive to issues of class relations and connections to other work by Falk as well as Levinson and Link, Columbo: Make Me a Perfect Murder sees American television as an intertextual system, from its origins as a commercial broadcast medium to its iterations within contemporary streaming platforms. Ultimately, Hastie argues, in the titular detective's constant state of learning about cultural trends and media forms, Columbo offers viewers the opportunity to learn with him and, through his tutelage, to become detectives of television itself. ![]() Free Download Color Atlas of Female Genital Tract Pathology by Pranab Dey English | EPUB (True)| 2018 (2019 Edition) | 496 Pages | ISBN : 9811310289 | 834.8 MB This book presents colored gross and microphotographs of histopathology sections of both common and uncommon tumors of the female genital tract, and also includes the immunohistochemistry of the important lesions. Further, it explains the salient diagnostic features and the immunocytochemistry, molecular pathology and differential diagnosis of each lesion with brief references and discusses recent advances in the diagnosis of these tumors. With numerous images offering guidance on diagnosing different lesions of the female genital tract, the book is intended for practicing pathologists and post-graduate students as well as for gynecology practitioners and post-graduate students. ![]() Free Download Hal R. Boyd, E. Gordon Gee, "College for the Commonwealth: A Case for Higher Education in American Democracy" English | 2018 | ISBN: 081317659X | EPUB | pages: 160 | 1.5 mb In the past decade, states across the nation have cut higher education spending per student by more than 15 percent. Kentucky has experienced some of the largest cuts in the country, leading many to claim that higher education is in a state of crisis. In spite of this turmoil, however, Kentucky's remarkable institutions of higher education stand more capable than ever to prepare new generations for the challenges and opportunities of their time. ![]() Free Download Code-switching in Bilingual Children by Katja F. Cantone English | PDF (True) | 2007 | 288 Pages | ISBN : 1402057830 | 3.1 MB This study investigates the issue of code-switching in young bilingual children, in particular, intra-sentential switches, that is, mixing within an utterance. The data come from five bilingual Italian/German ch- dren (age 1;8 to 5 years), who grew up in Hamburg, Germany. The term bilingual is used in order to describe a person who has been exposed to both languages from birth on (Meisel 1989:20). Hence, this work is placed within the research field of Bilingual First Language Acquisition. The present book discusses three main issues. The first assumption concerns language mixing in young bilingual children. Differently from former studies on mixing in children, I claim that bilingual children's mixed utterances should be analyzed in the same way as adult mixing. I further argue that child grammar is organized in the same way as adult grammar. Therefore, a grammatical development should not explain a different type of switching. In fact, I claim that there is no relation between the development of grammar in child speech and the quality of language mixing. The data rather show that language mixing depends on an individual choice, that is, either children mix throughout or they do not. Following Cantone & Müller (2005), slightly higher rates at the beginning of language production might be due to a performance factor. Since the operation Select has no full practice to pick items according to the language context yet, some errors might occur as long as fluency has not been reached. ![]() Free Download Code Reading in Practice (First Early Release) by Felienne Hermans English | 2022 | ISBN: 9781098133818 | 60 pages | MOBI | 1.59 Mb Reading code is an essential skill, but many organizations today don't teach, practice, or even discuss it. Developers who lack the ability to read code well can't perform good code reviews, assess code quality, or decide on the use of an open source library. In two parts, this practical book helps developers become more comfortable at reading code. ![]() Free Download Code Optimization Techniques for Embedded Processors: Methods, Algorithms, and Tools by Rainer Leupers English | PDF | 2000 | 218 Pages | ISBN : 0792379896 | 21.9 MB The building blocks of today's and future embedded systems are complex intellectual property components, or cores, many of which are programmable processors. Traditionally, these embedded processors mostly have been pro grammed in assembly languages due to efficiency reasons. This implies time consuming programming, extensive debugging, and low code portability. The requirements of short time-to-market and dependability of embedded systems are obviously much better met by using high-level language (e.g. C) compil ers instead of assembly. However, the use of C compilers frequently incurs a code quality overhead as compared to manually written assembly programs. Due to the need for efficient embedded systems, this overhead must be very low in order to make compilers useful in practice. In turn, this requires new compiler techniques that take the specific constraints in embedded system de sign into account. An example are the specialized architectures of recent DSP and multimedia processors, which are not yet sufficiently exploited by existing compilers. ![]() Free Download Code Generation in Microsoft .NET by Kathleen Dollard English | PDF | 2004 | 746 Pages | ISBN : 1590591372 | 59.5 MB Code generation has the potential to revolutionize application development. Rather than handcrafting each piece of code, developers are increasingly turning to code generation based on templates and applications of business logic to automatically perform a variety of tasks. This book teaches the technical details of code generation in .NET through a coherent series of steps that will help you to incorporate code generation into your own development efforts. ![]() Free Download Steve McConnell, "Code Complete: A Practical Handbook of Software Construction, Second Edition" English | 2009 | pages: 960 | ISBN: 0735619670 | EPUB | 3,5 mb Widely considered one of the best practical guides to programming, Steve McConnell's original code complete has been helping developers write better software for more than a decade. Now this classic book has been fully updated and revised with leading-edge practices-and hundreds of new code samples-illustrating the art and science of software construction.
