The Presidential Years 2012–2017
Free Download The Presidential Years: 2012-2017 By Pranab Dr Mukherjee
2021 | 215 Pages | ISBN: 9390356520 | EPUB | 5 MB
The Presidential Years offers a fascinating account of how one of the country's most respected veteran politicians reshaped the functioning of Rashtrapati Bhavan and responded to tumultuous events as the country's first citizen, leaving behind a legacy that will be hard to match. Pranab Mukherjee became President of India after having spent several decades in politics, and there was great speculation over how he would approach his new bipartisan role after having been associated with a political party for so many years of his life. By the time he had served his term, Mukherjee had won the respect and admiration of people from across the political spectrum, including those who were his rivals when he was a political figure. He had the occasion to work with two prime ministers, belonging to two parties who were (and are) fiercely opposed to each other, and he managed to do so with aplomb.

The Poverty of Strategy Organization in the Shadows of Technology
Free Download The Poverty of Strategy: Organization in the Shadows of Technology
English | 2023 | ISBN: 1107150329 | 389 Pages | PDF | 12 MB
At least since the ancient Greeks, strategists have sought to direct and distinguish organized activity through planned, rational decision-making, through the imaginative creation of vision, or through the assertion of will. In all cases, argue Holt and Zundel, strategy impoverishes, not because it only ever offers limited view of organized life, but because it is dedicated to concealing these limits behind grand generalities. The situation is exacerbated when machines and algorithms, not humans, organize. Holt and Zundel draw on philosophy, literature, media theory, art, mathematics, computing and military thinking in an attempt to rescue strategy by isolating what, they argue, remains its essence: strategy is a continual organizational struggle towards authenticity. This, too, is a condition of poverty, but one that sets in place an unhomely condition of questionability as opposed to one of distinctive settlement. It is, argue Holt and Zundel, the sole gift of strategy to thoughtfully refuse rather than impose, organizational imperatives.

The Pentecostal World
Free Download Michael Wilkinson, "The Pentecostal World "
English | ISBN: 0367621800 | 2023 | 502 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
The Pentecostal World provides a comprehensive and critical introduction to one of the most vibrant and diverse expressions of contemporary Christianity. Unlike many books on Pentecostalism, this collection of essays from all continents does not attempt to synthesize and simplify the movement's inherent diversity and fragmented dispersion. Instead, the global flows of Pentecostalism are firmly grounded in local histories and expressions, as well as the various modes of their worldwide reproduction. The book thus argues for a new understanding of Pentecostal and Charismatic movements that accounts for the simultaneous processes of pluralization and homogenization in contemporary World Christianity.

The Oxford Handbook of Quaker Studies
Free Download Stephen W. Angell, "The Oxford Handbook of Quaker Studies "
English | ISBN: 0199608679 | 2013 | 644 pages | EPUB | 3 MB
Quakerism began in England in the 1650s. George Fox, credited as leading the movement, had an experience of 1647 in which he felt he could hear Christ directly and inwardly without the mediation of text or minister. Convinced of the authenticity of this experience and its universal application, Fox preached a spirituality in which potentially all were ministers, all part of a priesthood of believers, a church leveled before the leadership of God. Quakers are a fascinating religious group both in their original "peculiarity" and in the variety of reinterpretations of the faith since. The way they have interacted with wider society is a basic but often unknown part of British and American history. This handbook charts their history and the history of their expression as a religious community.

The Nature of Endangerment in India Tigers, 'Tribes', Extermination & Conservation, 1818–2020
Free Download Ezra Rashkow, "The Nature of Endangerment in India: Tigers, 'Tribes', Extermination & Conservation, 1818-2020"
English | ISBN: 0192868527 | 2023 | 394 pages | PDF | 13 MB
Perhaps no category of people on earth has been perceived as more endangered, nor subjected to more conservation efforts, than indigenous peoples. And in India, calls for the conservation of Adivasi culture have often reached a fever pitch, especially amongst urban middle-class activists and global civil society groups. But are India's 'tribes' really endangered? Do they face extinction? And is this threat somehow comparable to the threat of extinction facing tigers and other wildlife? Combining years of fieldwork and archival research with rigorous theoretical interrogations, this book examines fears of interlinking biological and cultural (or biocultural) diversity loss-particularly in regard to Bhil and Gond communities facing conservation and development-induced displacement in western and central India. It also problematizes the frequent usage of dehumanizing animal analogies that carelessly equate the fates of endangered species and societies. In doing so, it offers a

The Long Eighth Century
Free Download Chris Wickham, Inge Lyse Hansen, "The Long Eighth Century"
English | 2000 | pages: 199 | ISBN: 9004117237 | PDF | 177,3 mb
The eighth century has not been analysed as a period of economic history since the 1930s, and is ripe for a comprehensive reassessment. The twelve papers in this book range over the whole of Europe and the Mediterranean from Denmark to Palestine, covering Francia, Italy and Byzantium on the way. They examine regional economies and associated political structures, that is to say the whole network of production, exchange, and social relations in each area. They offer both authoritative overviews of current work and new and original work. As a whole, they show how the eighth century was the first century when the post-Roman world can clearly be seen to have emerged, in the regional economies of each part of Europe.

The Intelligence of a Machine
Free Download Jean Epstein, "The Intelligence of a Machine "
English | ISBN: 1937561186 | 2014 | 111 pages | PDF | 531 KB
The advent of the cinema radically altered our comprehension of time, space, and reality. With his experience as a pioneering avant-garde filmmaker, Jean Epstein uses the universes created by the cinematograph to deconstruct our understanding of how time and space, reality and unreality, continuity and discontinuity, determinism and randomness function both inside and outside the cinema. Time, he says, should be regarded as the first, not the fourth, dimension-and the cinematograph allows us, for the first time, to manipulate it in directions and speeds of our choosing.
