The Apocryphal Acts of the Apostles in Armenian
Free Download Valentina Calzolari, "The Apocryphal Acts of the Apostles in Armenian "
English | ISBN: 9042946210 | 2022 | 284 pages | PDF | 2 MB
After an overview of the Christian Apocrypha in Armenian, the volume starts with three essays dealing with the apostles of Armenia, Thaddaeus and Bartholomew. The cycle of Thaddaeus merges with the traditions related to Addai, King Abgar, and the old Christianity of Edessa, while the account of the discovery of the relics of Bartholomew in Armenia is connected with the bishop Marutha of Maypherkat. The second part of the volume includes four essays on Thecla and on the different paradigms of holiness (virgin, martyr, preacher, and patroness of Nicaean orthodoxy) that she embodies in the ancient Armenian historiographical literature. The last two chapters are devoted to the Armenian translations of the Martyrdom of Andrew and the Martyrdom of Philip, which contain some Encratite passages absent from the Greek. All these essays stress the importance of the apocryphal writings as evidence for a better understanding of ancient Christianity in Armenia in its different facets and in its relations with the neighbouring Christian communities.

Teaching for Spiritual Formation
Free Download Kyle R Hughes, "Teaching for Spiritual Formation"
English | ISBN: 1725281244 | 2022 | 198 pages | PDF | 4 MB
In Teaching for Spiritual Formation, church historian and experienced Christian educator Kyle R. Hughes advances a fresh vision of Christian teaching and learning by drawing upon the riches of the Christian tradition, synthesizing the wisdom of the early church fathers with contemporary efforts to cultivate a distinctively Christian approach to education. Of interest to a wide range of Christian educators, this book examines how the writings of five significant church fathers can illuminate our understanding of the vocation of teachers, the nature of students, the purpose of curriculum, decisions about pedagogy, and how spiritual formation works. Besides reimagining these aspects of Christian education, Hughes also offers habits and practices that can help bring this vision of Christian teaching and learning to life, challenging Christian educators to sharpen their approach to the integration of faith and learning in practical and accessible ways.

Tantric Revisionings New Understandings of Tibetan Buddhism and Indian Religion
Free Download Tantric Revisionings: New Understandings of Tibetan Buddhism and Indian Religion By Geoffrey Samuel
2005 | 392 Pages | ISBN: 0754652807 | PDF | 19 MB
Tantric Revisionings presents stimulating new perspectives on Hindu and Buddhist religion, particularly their Tantric versions, in India, Tibet or in modern Western societies. Geoffrey Samuel adopts an historically and textually informed anthropological approach, seeking to locate and understand religion in its social and cultural context. The question of the relation between 'popular' (folk, domestic, village, 'shamanic') religion and elite (literary, textual, monastic) religion forms a recurring theme through these studies. Six chapters have not been previously published; the previously published studies included are in publications which are difficult to locate outside major specialist libraries.

This edited book delves into several aspects of sports and sports management from a vantage of uncertainty and turbulence unleashed initially by COVID-19. The book, divided into three broad sections, deals in strategy and governance of sports organizations, use and evolution of technology in sports, and sports consumption and media. It starts from the backdrop of how sport assumed a new-found importance in people's lives while reeling under several phases of pandemic-induced lockdowns. Consumers felt how integral sports was in their lives when there were no live games to watch and bond on. Players, leagues, organizers, and media are still recovering, along with viewers, as sports makes a tentative comeback in our lives. COVID-19 was a precursor of the disruptions to come. Both the supply and demand sides have taken note of those disturbances to prepare themselves for any such potential derailments. The organizations, franchises, athletes, media, health care, logistics on sports have been reworking their strategies to keep coping with uncertainties. On the other hand, the consumers have transformed their sports consumption behavior over these two years, aided by the enormous technological changes.
