African Women in Revolution
Free Download W.O. Maloba, "African Women in Revolution"
English | 2007 | pages: 317 | ISBN: 1592214460 | PDF | 8,4 mb
This book is an ambitious, extensive and detailed analysis of the roles played by African women in seven revolutionary movements in post World War 11 Africa. The revolutionary movements covered in this book occurred in: Algeria, Kenya, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Angola, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. The book describes and analyzes the nature and impact of women s participation in these revolutionary movements. How did these revolutionary movements define women s liberation? What is the linkage between feminist theories of liberation and national liberation? Did the national liberation movements betray women? And what has been the fate of the original commitments (and impulses) toward women s liberation and gender equality? At its center, this is a pioneering broad interpretive work. Drawing on the theoretical formulations and advances in economics and economic theory, political science, sociology, anthropology, education, history (of several countries), and feminist studies, this book is a significant contribution to the study of African women s history and struggle in recent African history. For the first time, African women s struggles for liberation in these movements are studied, and analyzed under one roof . By considering seven movements in one book, Maloba provides opportunities for both direct and indirect comparison. Also considered is the destructive impact of globalization on African women. The case studies of Senegal, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe show not only how each country has been affected, but the specific effects on women and their families; how household economy and gender relations are continually adjusting to the challenges posed by globalization. This timely and valuable book is written without jargon. It demonstrates that some social questions, like the status of women in society, are best understood if they are studied in an interdisciplinary manner, and not limited to one discipline.

Advanced Application of Nanotechnology to Industrial Wastewater
Free Download Advanced Application of Nanotechnology to Industrial Wastewater
English | 2023 | ISBN: 9819932912 | 613 Pages | PDF EPUB (True) | 31 MB
This book discusses new and innovative trends and techniques in the application of nanotechnology to industrial wastewater treatment both at a laboratory scale and an industry scale, including treatment, remediation, sensing and pollution prevention. The book also explores unique physicochemical and surface properties of nanoparticles; it highlights advantages they provide for engineering applications. Each chapter covers a different nanotechnology-based approach and examines basic principles, practical applications, recent breakthroughs and associated limitations. Nanotechnology applications to wastewater research have significant impact in maintaining the long-term quality, availability and viability of water. Regardless of the origin-for example, municipal or industrial wastewater-the remediation nanotechnology allows water to be recycled and desalinized in addition to simultaneously detecting biological and chemical contamination.

A Contribution to the Critique of Contemporary Capitalism Theoretical and International Perspectives
Free Download Ph.D. Das, Raju J., "A Contribution to the Critique of Contemporary Capitalism: Theoretical and International Perspectives"
English | 2014 | pages: 215 | ISBN: 1631175599, 1634831497 | PDF | 2,4 mb
The book is a critique of the capitalist world, including both the injustices it inflicts and the acts of resistance it provokes, which end up reproducing it. The book is also a critique of the ideas about this world, especially some of the ideas which are considered to be progressive. The book talks about why so-called critical thought as it exists is inadequate; why genuine critique is possible and necessary; what its different forms and attributes are; and who it is aimed toward: the masses or academia? This book presents what it considers to be the most adequate form of critique: the Marxist critique. This is a critique which explains humanity's problems, mainly in terms of the conflict-ridden social relations that determine how society's resources are used, which seeks to democratically transcend the current arrangements to establish popular democracy in all spheres of life; economic, political and cultural. The book then employs the principles of the Marxist critique to shed light on specific issues in the world as they exist or on the so-called progressive ideas about these issues, such as poverty and inequality in India; industrial disasters in the US; labour unfreedom in the capitalist North and South; the relation between economic and political power in modern society; social democracy; development of capitalism in rural areas and imperialism; pharmaceutical fraud and the consequent threat to human health in the US and the Maoist movement and protest politics (of the anarchist type' left) against dispossession and other forms of injustice.

1917 Russia's Red Year
Free Download John Newsinger, "1917: Russia's Red Year"
English | 2016 | pages: 95 | ISBN: 1910885207 | EPUB | 110,8 mb
This stunningly illustrated graphic novel follows the lives of Natalia and Peter, two young people who found themselves at the centre of a revolutionary storm. In 1917, Russian women workers poured out of their factories on International Women's Day and sparked a revolution. Defying Cossacks armed with whips, they took control of the streets and pelted other factories with stones and snowballs, calling on other workers to join them. The government brought in the troops to restore order. But soldiers' anger at the war, at food shortages and at the injustice of a rotten system exploded on the streets of St Petersburg. They mutinied and joined the marchers. That is where Natalia and Peter's story begins. We know where it ends: in weeks the Tsar was gone, followed a few months later by the government that replaced him. By October, workers had taken control. But what happens in that momentous year changed those who lived it forever and has inspired millions since.

Your Body, Your Voice The Key to Natural Singing and Speaking
Free Download Your Body, Your Voice: The Key to Natural Singing and Speaking by Theodore Dimon Jr, G. David Brown
English | September 27, 2011 | ISBN: 158394320X | 184 pages | PDF | 5.08 Mb
In this innovative book, Theodore Dimon, EdD, shows how each part of the vocal organ (breathing, larynx, throat, and so on) works as part of a larger musculoskeletal system that is often interfered with, and how identifying this larger system and understanding in a practical way how it works allows a person to train and improve the voice, whether speaking or singing. Traditional vocal training methods, says Dimon, cannot be effective without restoring the functioning of the musculature that supports the voice.
