An Introduction to Families, Deformations and Moduli
An Introduction to Families, Deformations and Moduli by T. E. Venkata Balaji
English | 2010 | ISBN: 3941875329 | 208 pages | PDF | 3 MB
Moduli Theory is one of those areas of Mathematics that has fascinated minds from classical to modern times. This has been so because it reveals beautiful Geometry naturally hidden in questions involving classification of geometric objects and because of the profound use of the methods of several areas of Mathematics like Algebra, Number Theory, Topology and Analysis to achieve this revelation. A study of Moduli Theory would therefore give senior undergraduate and graduate students an integrated view of Mathematics.

Allan Dwan and the Rise and Decline of the Hollywood Studios
Frederic Lombardi, "Allan Dwan and the Rise and Decline of the Hollywood Studios"
English | 2013 | ISBN: 0786434856 | PDF | pages: 383 | 7.7 mb
It could be said that the career of Canadian-born film director Allan Dwan (1885-1981) began at the dawn of the American motion picture industry. Originally a scriptwriter, Dwan became a director purely by accident. Even so, his creativity and problem-solving skills propelled him to the top of his profession. He achieved success with numerous silent film performers, most spectacularly with Douglas Fairbanks Sr. and Gloria Swanson, and later with such legendary stars as Shirley Temple and John Wayne. Though his star waned in the sound era, Dwan managed to survive through pluck and ingenuity. Considering himself better off without the fame he enjoyed during the silent era, he went on to do some of his best work for second-echelon studios (notably Republic Pictures' Sands of Iwo Jima) and such independent producers as Edward Small. Along the way, Dwan also found personal happiness in an unconventional manner. Rich in detail with two columns of text in each of its nearly 400 pages, and with more than 150 photographs, this book presents a thorough examination of Allan Dwan and separates myth from truth in his life and films.

Age Of Pandemics (1817-1920) How they shaped India and the World
Age Of Pandemics (1817-1920): How they shaped India and the World by Chinmay Tumbe
2020 | ISBN: 9353579457 | English | 280 pages | EPUB | 2 MB
From lockdowns to lock-ups, viruses to vaccination, the movement of people to the movement of bowels, from rats to cats, and more, The Age of Pandemics chronicles the many facets of the cholera, plague and influenza pandemics, which claimed over 70 million lives between 1817 and 1920, with India being the epicentre in all these episodes. A time otherwise known for the worldwide spread of the industrial revolution, imperialism and globalization, the period between the early nineteenth century and the early twentieth century was also the age of pandemics. This book documents the scale of devastation, the likely causes and consequences, and the resilience with which people faced those uncertain times. It also provides the first comprehensive coverage of the worlds greatest demographic disaster ever to descend upon a country in a short period of time - the influenza pandemic in India in 1918 - which claimed more lives than all the battle casualties of World War I. And it shows the continuing relevance of learning from those times to tackle contemporary challenges, such as COVID-19.
