This inspired group of men and women viewed creativity and freedom as the driving force behind nature, and each strove to understand this in their own inventive way. Their collective energy changed the social mood of the era and brought a new synthesis of knowledge to ideas in science and art. Class barriers were threatened as power shifted from the landed oligarchy to those with talent and the will to make a difference. ![]() Edward Alan Miller, "Block Granting Medicaid: A Model for 21st Century Health Reform? " English | ISBN: 0415720621 | 2013 | 238 pages | EPUB | 2 MB Medicaid is the largest grant-in-aid program in the United States. Reform in this area, therefore, provides a unique opportunity to study the intersection between federal and state policy making in an area recently characterized by substantial uncertainty deriving from the lingering effects of the Great Recession, ongoing debate over the federal budget, and implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Invariably states reform the way health care is delivered, regulated, and financed within broader parameters established by federal statutes and regulations. It is critical therefore that effective strategies be put into place if both current and future health and long-term care reform efforts are to have their greatest chances at success. Rhode Island is the first state to receive permission to operate its entire Medicaid program under a global cap. As a consequence, it has entered the national consciousness as a key data point potentially supporting the block grant approach to Medicaid reform. ![]() Biomimetic and Biohybrid Systems: 7th International Conference, Living Machines 2018, Paris, France, July 17-20, 2018, Proceedings by Vasiliki Vouloutsi English | PDF | 2018 | 569 Pages | ISBN : 3319959719 | 126.6 MB This book constitutes the proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Biomimetic and Biohybrid Systems, Living Machines 2018, held in Paris, France, in July 2018.The 40 full and 18 short papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 60 submissions. While Bergsonism was fashionable, L. Susan Stebbing, Bertrand Russell, Moritz Schlick, and Rudolf Carnap launched different critical attacks against some of Bergson's views. This book examines this series of critical responses to Bergsonism early in the history of analytic philosophy. Analytic criticisms of Bergsonism were influenced by William James, who saw Bergson as an 'anti-intellectualist' ally of American Pragmatism, and Max Scheler, who saw him as a prophet of Lebensphilosophie. Some of the main analytic objections to Bergson are answered in the work of Karin Costelloe-Stephen. Analytic anti-Bergsonism accompanied the earlier refutations of idealism by Russell and Moore, and later influenced the Vienna Circle's critique of metaphysics. It eventually contributed to the formation of the view that 'analytic' philosophy is divided from its 'continental' counterpart. ![]() Before Copernicus: The Cultures and Contexts of Scientific Learning in the Fifteenth Century (McGill-Queen's Studies in the History of Ideas) edited by Rivka Feldhay, F. Jamil Ragep English | June 12, 2017 | ISBN: 0773550097, 0773550100 | True EPUB | 368 pages | 3.1 MB In 1984, Noel Swerdlow and Otto Neugebauer argued that Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543) explained planetary motion by using mathematical devices and astronomical models originally developed by Islamic astronomers in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. Was this a parallel development, or did Copernicus somehow learn of the work of his predecessors, and if so, how? And if Copernicus did use material from the Islamic world, how then should we understand the European context of his innovative cosmology? ![]() Hourly History, "Battle of France - World War II: A History from Beginning to End" English | 2021 | ASIN: B099S12QM9, B099LVXB58 | EPUB | pages: 27 | 0.3 mb Discover the remarkable history of the Battle of France... ![]() BBQ Revolution : Innovative Barbecue Recipes from an All-Star Pitmaster by Mitch Benjamin English | 2021 | ISBN: 1592339956 | 210 Pages | True PDF | 75 MB |
