Gender and Occupational Outcomes: Longitudinal Assessment of Individual, Social, and Cultural Influences by Helen M. G. Watt and Jacquelynne S. Eccles
English | January 2008 | ISBN-10: 1433803100 | 384 pages | PDF | 21,6 Mb
Despite concentrated research and important legislative milestones on gender equality over the past quarter-century, gender-related disparities in science, technology, and math careers persist into the 21st century. This persistence sustains a troubling state of gender inequity in which women are not sharing in the salary and status advantages attached to scientific and technical careers.

From Trotsky to Gödel The Life of Jean van Heijenoort
Anita Burdman Feferman, "From Trotsky to Gödel: The Life of Jean van Heijenoort"
English | 2000 | ISBN: 1568811489 | PDF | pages: 432 | 43.7 mb
This story of a highly intelligent observer of the turbulent 20th century who was intimately involved as the secretary and bodyguard to Leon Trotsky is based on extensive interviews with the subject, Jean van Heijenoort, and his family, friends, and colleagues. The author has captured the personal drama and the professional life of her protagonist-ranging from the political passion of a young intellectual to the scientific and historic work in the most abstract and yet philosophically important area of logic-in a very readable narrative.

Freedom, Justice, and Decolonization
Freedom, Justice, and Decolonization by Lewis Gordon
English | Dec 31, 2020 | ISBN: 0367632969, 0367632462 | 158 pages | PDF | 6 MB
The eminent scholar Lewis R. Gordon offers a probing meditation on freedom, justice, and decolonization. What is there to be understood and done when it is evident that the search for justice, which dominates social and political philosophy of the North, is an insufficient approach for the achievements of dignity, freedom, liberation, and revolution? Gordon takes the reader on a journey as he interrogates a trail from colonized philosophy to re-imagining liberation and revolution to critical challenges raised by Afropessimism, theodicy, and looming catastrophe. He offers not forecast and foreclosure but instead an urgent call for dignifying and urgent acts of political commitment. Such movements take the form of examining what philosophy means in Africana philosophy, liberation in decolonial thought, and the decolonization of justice and normative life. Gordon issues a critique of the obstacles to cultivating emancipatory politics, challenging reductionist forms of thought that proffer harm and suffering as conditions of political appearance and the valorization of nonhuman being. He asserts instead emancipatory considerations for occluded forms of life and the irreplaceability of existence in the face of catastrophe and ruin, and he concludes, through a discussion with the Circassian philosopher and decolonial theorist, Madina Tlostanova, with the project of shifting the geography of reason.

Einstein, Relativity, and Mind
Einstein, Relativity, and Mind by Peter March
English | 2013 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B00D71ZACW | 101 pages | Rar (PDF, AZW3) | 0.51 Mb
Einstein's work continued that of Galileo, and Newton, and brought Relativity to a high level of development. His intellectual strategies may not be familiar to all so the first part of this short book describes the relational theory which he employed. The second part shows that the strategies he used work just as well in philosophy as they did in physics; here the techniques are applied to the philosophy of mind, suggesting a radically new philosophy of mind which promises to answer many of the questions which still remain unanswered.
