White, "The Medieval English Landscape, 1000-1540" English | ISBN: 1441135065 | 2012 | 208 pages | PDF | 5 MB The landscape of medieval England was the product of a multitude of hands. While the power to shape the landscape inevitably lay with the Crown, the nobility and the religious houses, this study also highlights the contribution of the peasantry in the layout of rural settlements and ridge-and-furrow field works, and the funding of parish churches by ordinary townsfolk. The importance of population trends is emphasised as a major factor in shaping the medieval landscape: the rising curve of the eleventh to thirteenth centuries imposing growing pressures on resources, and the devastating impact of the Black Death leading to radical decline in the fourteenth century. Opening with a broad-ranging analysis of political and economic trends in medieval England, the book progresses thematically to assess the impact of farming, rural settlement, towns, the Church, and fortification using many original case studies. The concluding chapter charts the end of the medieval landscape with the dissolution of the monasteries, the replacement of castles by country houses, the ongoing enclosure of fields, and the growth of towns. ![]() Dorothy McCoy, "The Manipulative Man: Identify His Behavior, Counter the Abuse, Regain Control" English | ISBN: 1593376235 | 2006 | 256 pages | AZW3 | 475 KB Conventional wisdom says that women are the manipulative ones - but tell that to the thousands of desperate women suffering at the hands of a manipulative man. With most books, I would have given up well before then, but this book had so much promise that I knew I wanted to push through and read it. I finally did, and I'm crazy glad. What excited me most about the book was that although it's about a moment in history that we've all read about in history books -- the Donner Party and their disastrous trip west -- it wasn't another dry overview from above. Instead, the book really dives into one specific person there and what the trip would have been like from her perspective. As a result, there were scattered times throughout the book where it really felt a bit more like historical fiction to me than straight biography, but in that awesome blended way where it actually didn't bother me. The book was engaging enough to keep me reading, and presented the story from such a distinct perspective that it really got me thinking about all sorts of things. ![]() The Great Mathematical Pattern Book- Let'S Get Your Brain Working: Math Problems by Rupert Stanbery English | January 7, 2021 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B08SJGP87Z | 332 pages | Rar (PDF, AZW3) | 26 Mb From a zebra's stripes to a spider's web: an engaging examination of patterns in nature and the mathematics that underlie them. ![]() The Great Kosher Meat War of 1902: Immigrant Housewives and the Riots That Shook New York City by Scott D.
