Bodies at Work
Bodies at Work By Dr Carol Wolkowitz
2006 | 224 Pages | ISBN: 0761960643 | PDF | 2 MB
After reading this book it will be more difficult to ''do'' the sociology of work and the sociology of the body in the absence of the other. In some quite exquisite ways it throws down a challenge which practitioners in both fields will find difficult to ignore' - Paul Stewart, former editor of Work, Employment and Society, University of the West of England Bodies at Work provides the first full-length, accessible account of the body/work relation in contemporary western societies. Bringing together fields of sociology that have hitherto developed mainly along separate lines, the book demonstrates the relevance of concepts developed in the sociology of the body for enriching our understanding of changing patterns of work and employment. Bodies at Work begins by establishing key concerns in both the sociology of the body and the sociology of work. Drawing on existing research, the author proceeds to examine a wide range of employment sectors: industrial employment; customer relations; health practice; care work; the beauty industry; and sex work. The contribution of feminist theory and research is highlighted throughout, and analyses of photographs help the reader conceptualise the changing nature of the body/work relationship over time. Bodies at Work helps readers think more clearly and creatively about how work relations shape bodily experience.

Between the Stops The View of My Life from the Top of the Number 12 Bus
Sandi Toksvig, "Between the Stops: The View of My Life from the Top of the Number 12 Bus"
English | 2021 | ISBN: 0349006407, 0349006377 | 320 pages | MOBI | 0.44 MB
Between the Stops is a sort of a memoir, my sort. It's about a bus trip really, because it's my view from the Number 12 bus (mostly top deck, the seat at the front on the right), a double-decker that plies its way from Dulwich, in South East London where I was living, to where I sometimes work at the BBC in the heart of the capital. It's not a sensible way to write a memoir at all, probably, but it's the way things pop into your head as you travel, so it's my way.

Atlas of Transvaginal Endoscopy
Atlas of Transvaginal Endoscopy By Stephen Gordts, Hugo C. Verhoeven, Rudi Campo, Ivo Brosens
2007 | 124 Pages | ISBN: 1842143204 | PDF | 6 MB
Transvaginal endoscopy of the female genital tract is a powerful new technique for the evaluation and management of pelvic disease. This highly illustrated book details the possibilities and advantages of these techniques, including transvaginal laparoscopy, salpingoscopy, patency testing, and vaginocervicohysteroscopy for the exploration of the uterine cavity. The techniques are particularly useful in the investigation and management of infertility - e.g. oocyte pick-up, implantation, and the exploration of the uterine cavity and tubo-ovarian structures. As the use of water-based distension media is new in laparoscopy, and provides detailed images of pelvic structures, the high-quality illustrations are a particularly important part of the book.
