Free Download Theoretical Computer Science: Essays in Memory of Shimon Even by Oded Goldreich, Arnold L. Rosenberg, Alan L. Selman
English | PDF (True) | 2006 | 410 Pages | ISBN : 3540328807 | 4.1 MB
On May 1, 2004, the world of theoretical computer science su?ered a stunning loss: Shimon Even passed away. Few computer scientists have had as long, s- tained, and in?uential a career as Shimon. Shimon Even was born in Tel-Aviv in 1935. He received a B.Sc. in Elect- cal Engineering from the Technion in 1959, an M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Northern Carolina in 1961, and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University in 1963. He held positions at the Technion (1964-67 and 1974-2003), Harvard University (1967-69), the Weizmann Institute (1969- 74), and the Tel-Aviv Academic College (2003-04). He visited many universities and research institutes, including Bell Laboratories, Boston University, Cornell, Duke, Lucent Technologies, MIT, Paderborn, Stanford, UC-Berkeley, USC and UT-Dallas. Shimon Even played a major role in establishing computer science education in Israel and led the development of academic programs in two major insti- tions: the Weizmann Institute and the Technion. In 1969 he established at the Weizmann the ?rst computer science education program in Israel, and led this program for ?ve years. In 1974 he joined the newly formed computer science department at the Technion and shaped its academic development for several decades. These two academic programs turned out to have a lasting impact on the evolution of computer science in Israel.

Free Download The Synthesis of Three Dimensional Haptic Textures: Geometry, Control, and Psychophysics by Gianni Campion
English | PDF (True) | 2011 | 170 Pages | ISBN : 0857295756 | 3 MB
The sense of touch is fundamental during the interaction between humans and their environment; in virtual reality, objects are created by computer simulations and they can be experienced through haptic devices. In this context haptic textures are fundamental for a realistic haptic perception of virtual objects.

Free Download The Sutures of the Skull: Anatomy, Embryology, Imaging, and Surgery by Mehmet Turgut
English | EPUB | 2021 | 444 Pages | ISBN : 3030723372 | 103.4 MB
This book provides an in-depth review of the sutures of the skull. The premature closure of the sutures of the skull (craniosynostosis) due to genetic or metabolic etiologies results in typical progressive skull deformity, due to both the inhibition of growth caused by the affected cranial suture and associated compensatory expansion of the skull along the open ones.

Free Download The Special Theory of Relativity: Einstein's World in New Axiomatics by Helmut Günther
English | EPUB | 2019 | 547 Pages | ISBN : 9811377820 | 112.8 MB
This book discusses in detail the special theory of relativity without including all the instruments of theoretical physics, enabling readers who are not budding theoretical physicists to develop competence in the field. An arbitrary but fixed inertial system is chosen, where the known velocity of light is measured. With respect to this system a moving clock loses time and a moving length contracts. The book then presents a definition of simultaneity for the other inertial frames without using the velocity of light.

Free Download The Multi Business Model Innovation Approach : Part 1 By Peter Lindgren
English | PDF | 2018 | 244 Pages | ISBN : 8793609663 | 172.3 MB
It is argued in most academic literature that the Business Model (BM) is a general model for how any business "runs" or should run its business - "a blueprint of the business". The book argues that no business has just one BM and just one model on which it runs its entire business or intends to run all its business. The research presented in the book points in contrast to other BM frameworks that businesses have more BMs - and have both "as-is" and "to-be" BMs. Further our research shows that the BM framework can and should be used for both "as-is" and "to-be" Models - which we call "The Multi Business Model Approach".

Free Download The Mathematics of the Bose Gas and its Condensation by Elliott H. Lieb , Jan Philip Solovej , Robert Seiringer , Jakob Yngvason
English | PDF (True) | 2005 | 204 Pges | ISBN : 3764373369 | 1.7 MB
The mathematical study of the Bose gas goes back to the ?rst quarter of the twentieth century, with the invention of quantum mechanics. The name refers to the Indian physicist S.N. Bose who realized in 1924 that the statistics governing photons(essentiallyinventedbyMaxPlanckin1900)isdetermined(usingmodern terminology) by restricting the physical Hilbert space to be the symmetric tensor product of single photon states. Shortly afterwards, Einstein applied this idea to massive particles, such as a gas of atoms, and discovered the phenomenon that we now call Bose-Einstein condensation. At that time this was viewed as a mathematical curiosity with little experimental interest, however. The peculiar properties of liquid Helium (?rst lique?ed by Kammerlingh Onnes in 1908) were eventually viewed as an experimental realization of Bose- Einstein statistics applied to Helium atoms. The unresolved mathematical pr- lem was that the atoms in liquid Helium are far from the kind of non-interacting particles envisaged in Einstein's theory, and the question that needed to be - solved was whether Bose-Einstein condensation really takes place in a strongly interacting system - or even in a weakly interacting system. That question is still with us, three quarters of a century later! The ?rst systematic and semi-rigorous mathematical treatment of the pr- lem was due to Bogoliubov in 1947, but that theory, while intuitively appealing and undoubtedly correct in many aspects, has major gaps and some ?aws. The 1950's and 1960's brought a renewed ?urry of interest in the question, but while theoreticalintuitionbene?tedhugelyfromthisactivitythemathematicalstructure did not signi?cantly improve.

Free Download The Mathematics of Medical Imaging: A Beginner's Guide by Timothy G. Feeman
English | PDF (True) | 2010 | 150 Pages | ISBN : 0387927115 | 6.1 MB
In 1979, the Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology was awarded jointly to Allan McLeod Cormack and Godfrey Newbold Houns eld, the two pioneering scienti- engineers primarily responsible for the development, in the 1960s and early 1970s, of computerized axial tomography, popularly known as the CAT or CT scan. In his papers [13], Cormack, then a Professor at Tufts University, in Massachusetts, dev- oped certain mathematical algorithms that, he envisioned, could be used to create an image from X-ray data. Working completely independently of Cormack and at about the same time, Houns eld, a research scientist at EMI Central Research Laboratories in the United Kingdom, designed the rst operational CT scanner as well as the rst commercially available model. (See [22] and [23]. ) Since 1980, the number of CT scans performed each year in the United States has risen from about 3 million to over 67 million. What few people who have had CT scans probably realize is that the fundamental problem behind this procedure is essentially mathematical: If we know the values of the integral of a two- or three-dimensional fu- tion along all possible cross-sections, then how can we reconstruct the function itself? This particular example of what is known as an inverse problem was studied by Johann Radon, an Austrian mathematician, in the early part of the twentieth century.
